Camp and Border Gaurds, Propoganda Ministry workers, etc. who know just enough to want to effect but aren't high up enough to be watched endlessly. Usually its reported by defectors that based on peoples "Songbun" or loyalty 30-40% of the Population are true believers in the Kim's, 40-50% are not true believers but are not dissidents either. The remaining 30-10% are secret dissidents .

There are only about 50,000 defectors, compare that to the 120,000 cuban refugees from a much smaller country with less reasons to defect. @wageofsins The Percentage is fairly low. Defectors are almost exclusively members of the Lower Party. Camp and Border Gaurds, Propoganda Ministry workers, etc. who know just enough to want to effect but aren't high up enough to be watched endlessly. Usually its reported by defectors that based on peoples "Songbun" or loyalty 30-40% of the Population are true believers in the Kim's, 40-50% are not true believers but are not dissidents either. The remaining 30-10% are secret dissidents .

There are only about 50,000 defectors, compare that to the 120,000 cuban refugees from a much smaller country with less reasons to defect. The vast majority of North Koreans are oblivious to the outside world even if thier not true believers. The Cult and Propoganda is very succesful except right along the chinese border.

And those parts they both claim are than made into "neutral" zones. Meaning that they both claim it but neither would go into it for that will be read by the other as an invasion into it's territory. The south broke that understanding by deliberatly shooting into such a neutral zone which the north thus regarded as an bombardment of it's territory
