You all forget that Germany and Russia divided Poland between them, and while the allies were preoccupied with Germany, Russia invaded Finland. During a very long period of rule, there were many different Muslim regimes (with different rulers/caliphs) that came into power -- some moderate and peaceful, a few radical and tyrannical, and some in between. What is rarely spoken and written about in the Western world are the significant scientific and cultural contributions that were made by Muslim thinkers like Avicenna, Averroes, Alfarabi, etc.

We're going to diagree on this one, I don't see the need for religion, I get along quite fine without it, as do most of my close friends/family, but I also don't see the need for anyone of different beliefs to be violent with each other.
If one thing is certain to me right now, it's that we're going to have dfferent faiths, and no faiths in or world, so we better get along or we're doomed. We need to be watchful of those who would divide us, we're all one on after-all.

There were two fronts in the war against the Nazis: east and west. The western front was made up of American and British forces and made a huge contribution to the victory. Any attempt to discredit this demonstrates a severe ignorance of history.

I would never discredit Americas contribution to the german war effort. When Hitler was elected US investment went down in all european countries while going up 48% in Germany. It took several years until Roosevelt could assert himself against the domestic corporate fascists and Churchill to go in for real (when it became apparent that Russia turned the tide). Only then did people like the Bush crime family indicted under the "Trading with the Enemy Act".

2. strategically, landing in normandy was a nonsense (landing in italy was much easier), but it saved time

The red army was a never before seen and never again seen 10 million man mechanized army in the field. Unheard of. And if you don't think that is relevant, then just compare the size, scope, fatalities and battles on the Eastern and Western front, the Eastern Front dwarfs the Western Front. The Soviet Union won World War 2 and the U.S. came out winner.

But the Red Army was what broke the back of the Wermacht and where the vast majority of the Wermacht was spent trying to fight them off. But all ppl remember is the US and the Normandy landings. US and Britain did their part, sure. But make no mistake the ReD Army did the majority of the dirty work. Sad it had to be under a tyrant asshole like Stalin.

America lost 250,000 men in WW2.The USSR lost 17 million military personnel & at least a further 20 million citizens.
Germany lost 11 million men killed wounded or captured in the east.They lost around 2 million against the western allies.
Then you have the scale of the battles..
Moscow,Stalingrad,Kursk,Kharkov (1,2&3)..etc..
If u think D.day was big,look up operation Bagration!
They ALL,by far,dwarf anything in the western theatre or the Pacific.

Chinas poor live in a different world. A third world. The communists are in government. The communist party is the only party there is. China doesnt have freedom of speech or freedom of the press. It doesnt tolerate dissent. Authorities can arrest and imprison people who threaten stability, as the party defines it. Any group that dares to protest is treated brutally. There are no civil liberties, no labor unions, no centers of political power outside the communist party.

There are no communist countries. If you still think China is communist then you need to read a book as soon as possible. Every successful socialist revolution that has occurred has always met a crackdown from other imperialist powers. Take 1917 for instance when the Russian masses overthrew the tzar and installed a socialist republic in Russia, only to be invaded by 19 different imperialist armies including the US. Every time workers stand up and revolt they're squashed by the capitalist powers
