  • This is truly inspiring. I love the song. Brian went through so much as a songwriter with family turning against him. For me, this is a beautiful salute to a reluctant genius.

  • who wrote the speech for Josh? its really moving lol :DD

  • @hisumi1234 He wrote it himself

  • this world is a much better place because of Brian Wilson's music (and of course The Beach Boys), and of course Libera's boys touch the hearts of all that listen to the beauty of their voices.

  • Whenever I watch this I always end up smiling, :')

  • This was the best performance of the night!

  • @annggu fuck you. they, sorry, WE put in a lot more time and effort than you think we did.

  • No other group has touched me as much as Libera has. Their singing is so relaxing and then to perform this song is such a great tribute to Brians music. These young guys put everything they have into their music in addition to being so respectfull. I haven't known about them for a long time but I have seen and heard videos of previous groups and I have to say this particular group has won me over. This is not a slight on the other groups but to me this group is special as is Brian.

  • Look @ Diana Ross white people aren't the only ones who love The Beach boys and Brian Wilson

  • Diana Ross also was very moved and her presenting Brian with one of the beach balls very touching

  • Amazing that Libera has performed in front of so many people and with such a big supporting choir - I'm proud of them! and Josh is such a good speaker.

  • @Shinibo My daughter is in love with him! (She is 6). She says he has the best smile when he talks and when he sings. She thinks that she is going to marry him when she gets older!

  • @imsoninja I feel the same about him too

  • Diana Ross finally got Brian Wilson's attention after the finally here she even earlier in his tribute looked like she was plotting a way to steal Brian from Melinda which would of been so cool because Diana is no golddigger, not made of wax, and doesn't looklike the devil

  • @coolsweetgroovy Look at Melinda she got her arm around Brian and a sad face as if she were attending a funeral.LOL

  • @Desiree50 I saw that sis hillarious it is and how about Diana Ross she finally got his attention here

  • @coolsweetgroovy The wax lady and her phony tears.

  • @Desiree50 I agree sis Go Team Marilyn Brian and Marilyn forever

  • They would so much better without the other people in the background. Those people just ruined it!

  • I would prefer LIBERA- and just Libera only = not the choir in the background = so annoy >.<

  • There's Melinda with her crocodile tears(She found out that she couldn't adoptthose kids LOL) Go home watch those kids you adopted and make Brian a sandwitch you blonde goldigger

  • The Lil Beach Boys LOL those Libera boys did an awesome job and not to mention very cute

  • Diana Ross trying to get Brian Wilson's attention through his whole tribute cute and hillarious she finally got it after the their finale

  • such sweet sounds...................

  • oh...they are from G.B...as i say...great voices come mostly from european decent...full of passion...

  • When I first saw this video probably about a year or so ago, I was like "wow, they didn't do such a great job." But watching it again and knowing what to expect, Libera did do very well when singing this song. Especially with a ton of other people they never sing with, with almost no warm up, and having just gotten off a plane from Europe. The bit when just Libera harmonizes together is brilliant. The only real problem was with the person controlling the sound...

  • A fitting tribute to a absolute legend.Nice to see Brian so touched by it all.

  • It's really nice but anyone heard a strange voice. I think it came from the choir, not Libera

  • I guess the all libera member had to sing in real voice and got so nervous or not a bit deeper and husky a bit than another concerts, dont you think ?

So the voices are a bit expressed by maybe Sam? singing lower parts?

JOsh sings so whisper voice and husky too but its cool Thanks LIBERA !

  • WOW!!! OUTSTANDING.

  • ooo...rough start tom

    still amazing tho =)

  • the people who arrange these are brilliant

you couldnt get a more perfect finish than the beach balls

  • WOW--nuff said

  • this is great

  • My English Teacher Thomas Desmidt From Florida Virtual School asked me to watch this video. Its good

  • Libera deserves much praise and credit for their singing prowess. It is never easy to give such a concert and when boys their age do it so marvelously well they deserve much praise! Thank you Libera! Thank you Robert Prizeman and boys!

  • beautiful

  • the one with the low note was from libera

  • I like tom's voice but his voice was not good that day.

And I wonder that who's the voice which the low parts. the voice breaks the harmoney.

  • Is it someone from the other choir backing Libera?

But still, as always, Libera's performance is amazingly beautiful. :)

  • I think it's a boy from Libera. 2.38 look at the mouths mooving. Maybe the soundmanager (?) didn't do he's job right...

  • @0subin Libera just got off the plane, so they didn't get to warm up.

  • amazing kids...=)

  • this is the perfect example of what Brian hears when he is writing a song, those young voices harmonizing, yes Libera was paying tribute to Brian but also in his own way Brian was payiing tribute to them

  • Just so great seeing Brian Wilson honored! I cried and cried the night this was televised.

  • The ultimate compliment from Brian occurs at 2:24. When he's really into a piece of music, he closes his eyes and lets it wash over him. There's another great video on YouTube where Brian hears Ronnie Spector's version of "Don't Worry Baby" for the first time, and does the same thing.

  • from about 00:14 Sam looks like hes about to cry, even though I'm sure he's really happy :D

  • this is so sincere, even Diana Ross was moved into tears..

although Josh seems to have a little problem there..

    well done boys!

  • I love that all the boys are looking at Brian...they are singing TO him. It's so sweet.

  • Libera's newest album "New Dawn" brings slightly bittersweet emotions for me. Tom (soloist here) sings many solo bits, my favorites being "Ave Maria (Caccina" and "Air." He's getting to a point where his voice will break soon, which is sad for me and I'm sure for many because he is an amazing treble. If you listen to the new "Ave Maria" you'll understand. I think whatever happens I'll always remember his superior talent.

  • Nevertheless, for the most part, high art goes unnoticed. I'm glad that so many people love Libera, but I don't want them to just stop there! Let's all go out and find the amazing young singers all around us- in parishes, concerts, or wherever else they may be! There are so few people who are successful, but so many who are talented.

Please don't hate, learn to discuss and share opinions openly and with understanding.

  • proof: listen to some other of their live recordings.

  • although this particular live recording doesnt sound as good as most of theirs, (for whatever reason) Libera is the best sounding boy's choir BAR NONE in my opinion.

  • excellent touch w/beach balls at the end!!!!!!!!!

  • your so right i couldnt have been more perfect

    very emotional

  • @keno8spot and how about Diana Ross? she was the most touched

  • C'mon guys, you're missing the whole beauty of the occassion. This is about the "genius" and music of 1 man, who gave us so much music and painted a soundtrack of our own lives.

To be honored like this, with the other distinguished artists and peers, Oh my God; how could one not get a lump in their throat and hold back tears of joy and thankfulness? I want to go right now and put on "The

Warmth of The Sun" and "Sloop John B'.

Thank you angelvoices07. You are a "class act". Thanks B.Wilson.

  • Bravo, mysterytrax. You said it all.

  • Your taking the one and only performance were they dared to show a flaw from their usual standards of perfection. You need to familiarise yourself with the hundreds of Libera video's out there, that more than prove they are one of the best boy choirs of today. They are unique to their field of expertise and in some ways are incomparable to other boy choirs. I like listening to their songs, more than I do any other vocal group. They accommodate for many different mood types. Go see them live.

  • actually I have seen many of their songs, as well as being at the kennedy center honors and listened to this song live. But I have looked up their singing style and realize that they don't want to be identified as a boys choir, so I take back what I said. They're trying to be something new and I respect that.

  • Ok, once again I apologize. I respect them for trying to be something new and yet still retain some key elements of a boys choir. I still withold my opinion, as a proffessional musician and singer, that they have weak voices, but I agree that there is nothing more angellic than a treble boy's voice. I never tried to "bash" them.

  • I just want it to be clear that I'm not attacking them but just giving my opinion of their abilities, and because I have experience I should be allowed to voice that opinon. I see how my first comment came off as aggressive.

  • WOW I can't believe that u under estimate Libera, FYI the reason why their voices on this was kinda lame is because they only had how many days of practice without any notice to be invited by Brian still they did a great job, if you buy their NEW DAWN CD thye re arrange everything again.

    CHINO

  • I'm going to look for this song on the dawn cd. I thought this was beautiful.

  • If u are a professional musician then why are u not famous than Libera? why u never prosper in your own style of music? if u are a professional musician u should never say unprofessional words to these awesome boy band. You should go & watch their live performance when they were doing a concert in the U.S. I was there mannnn they are the best everrrrrrrrr.

    CHINO:)

  • @doomwhatelse This was just a small ensemble from Libera backed up by many boys from Washington D.C. prep schools. They ALL did a wonderful tribute to Brian. Listen to Libera CD's or better yet go see the whole choir LIVE and you just might change your opinion! Their CD's and LIVE performances are WONDERFUL!

  • realmente hermosa,... sin palabras

  • wow, bush was there

  • @miguelusamex Yes, the sitting president ALWAYS attends the Kennedy Center Honors performance.

  • I was fine until Brian's wife started patting his shoulder, then I lost it.

What a lovely performance, Libera! <3

  • I love this song so much. I really like Libera, too. It seems like their tones and voices work really well with the lyrics of Love and Mercy. For me, the best part of it is TOM'S SOLO!!

  • I like the way Libera sing the song, (Love and Mercy) Libera have a very nice voice!. And I really love it.

  • I really love the song, (Love and Mercy) Very Very much.

  • Great Job , Both choir.

  • they didnt need any other people singin !!!

  • They could of done better without the main alto parts but it was still great.

  • Just Beautiful

  • That was really moving, Brian Wilson deserves it!

  • Brian has the cutest smile around.

  • Truer words have never been spoken!

  • it's great that Brian's music is recognised

    by children of that age.

  • Wow! Brian looked so moved by that performance and is right to be proud. His music will live forever. What a tribute and so well deserved and overdue. Congratulations Brian! I hope you had a great night and many more to come, because your music will be with me 'til I die! Thank you so much!

  • Love this version, but it's better for them to re-record it just them alone singing it with their new cd. I understand why many people has negative feeling with this song. Guys we gotta understand that the time for Libera to perform was so limited and not much time of rehearsals I bet its bec.they are lacking of some sort of time and practice and thats how it goes.

    CHINO DA CHARGER!!!

  • OMG. tears. :")

    well done Libera!

  • Wasn't it beautiful how Brian & Diana Ross seemed to bond. They have so much in common, they hit the big time in 1964, they both "lost" group members, and were both inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 1989, and sadly enough they still "feud" with former partners.

  • @laminage I agree nice to know I'm not the only one that noticed

  • here we go, you uploaded another one, much louder! thanks!

  • what happende Michael ?

  • Michael H. or Michael V.?

  • OK. Thank you for your Comment :)

  • i mean Micahel H , was he leaves from Libera

  • No, he's still with them, along with Conor and Callum. They could only send a certain number of boys to the US, and so they had to limit themselves to only boys who were still trebles, but established ones (no big boys, but no newbies either). Michael's voice has deepened, so he missed out this time. But I certainly hope and expect he will be part of the full Libera choir when they come to the US in 2008! :-)

  • What month in 2008 and which states? thanks :)

  • Nothing has been announced yet on the details. Please keep an eye on the Libera's official website (libera . org . uk). The good news should be posting any day now (or is it just my wishful thinking...).

  • Thanks :)
