Sorry, but you are incorrect. The Erie triplexes were 2-8-8-8-2 and the Virginian triplex was 2-8-8-8-4. You can see for yourself via the photos on my web site.
The Triplexes have to be considered failures; the demand for steam from six cylinders outstripped what the boiler could supply. They did not have a long service life.
Nice chuff rhythm and no need for a double header :)

That is one triple-huge locomotive.
Here in Croatia the biggest locomotive
is a 2-6-6-0 Mallet.

What an odd, yet awesome locomotive. And I thought the 4-14-0 arrangement was strange. LOL

The triplex must be MTH's most popular model as it is available in G-Scale, 2 versions in O-scale, and it HO-Scale!

It's a magnificent model.

good question! you go to school, get a Ph.D., have a good career for 25 years, save your pennies, and then "get retired" at 50. LOL

They are very strong pullers; I run out of layout before I can come anywhere close to challenging them.

Also it was hell for the crew with those cylinders on both sides.

That is one fine steamer. Got to love those articulated steam engines. Watching all the drive wheels at work. Thanks for posting.
