I guess if Big Bird was going to try to come up with a better reason why he was walking with his head between his legs, instead of saying "just because", maybe he could have said something like "just for fun, and just to see what it feels like to walk with my head between my legs while looking upside down." (I know this scene was set up for later in the episode when Big Bird asked why Mr. Hooper died with Gordon saying "just because" but, Gordon wouldn't have said it if Big Bird didn't here).

oh my gosh i didn't know that... I always knew about them saying that Mr. Hooper died "just because" but I don't think I ever considered how it was set up earlier in the show.

This was so remarkably brilliant and subtle.

The clip is from the episode in which Mr. Hooper's death is explained. In that now-famous episode, Gordon explains to Big Bird that the reason people die is... "just because."

This clip sets up the later scene.

@christytina81: I had to remove the scene about Hooper's death because Lions Gate Studios is including it in their re-release of the Sesame Street 20th anniversary DVD. (How that could give Lions Gate a legitimate claim to own the clip, I still don't know...because when I posted it, it came from the original episode and not the anniversary special!)
