  • Chet Atkins is Mr. Guitar, but Les Paul is just a gift from God.

  • you definetely used to low sample frequency. Its 11 Khz or lower, but you can still hear the great playing of mister Les Paul!

  • Well actually he was a bit of a grumpy old fart in his later years. We did a job at his house in Mawah NJ in his old age he was a little nasty but then most old men are in many ways. God Bless Him he will live forever in all guitar performances and recordings to come

  • que ejemplo de persona te adoro!

  • I feel privileged to watch this man play. Thanks for sharing this.

    R.I.P. :'c(

  • R.I.P :/

  • It goes without saying Les Paul was/is one of the finest musicians that ever was. And a duo like Chester And Lester will never come along again. Ever

  • lol FAIL

  • Comment removed

  • @R0ckstar666x sshut your irrogant mouth. id like to see you stand, or live at 93 let alone play guitar at a descent pace. Why are people like you making the world a shitty place to live now.

  • Les is a legend...michael jackson would have to stand on his mothers shoulders to kiss

Les Paul's ass. As talented as he was...michael is a joke, a cartoon image.

Jackson will never...I repeat never, have the enduring legacy that Les has!

The public will never understand this but musicians do.

  • u can see here ,how beautiful the guitar can be and he is still having fun in his last (i hope long ) years of life ;)

  • He's still in my top 20 for best guitar players ever.

  • Its snowing on youtube o_O

(that's the first time i see him. inspiring and emotional. amazing.)

  • i stil think he was the greatest Guitar player Ever

  • precious! the best! thanks for the video..

  • I'm glad my generation grew up with Les Paul, he is a very inspiring person.

  • Bless his solid GOLD heart.

  • This man created multi-track recording...Hard to top that...

  • Most people aren't even alive by 93. Look at what he's doing!

  • Does it matter how much attention his death got? As an electric guitarist I'd safely bet at least 80 percent of what you do is only possible because of Les Paul, that means even those guitarists who don't know who Les is are inspired by him. Les Paul is there everytime you plug in your guitar. Thats why his death didn't get the notice it deserved because he's not really dead

  • His timing seems wrong, but yet when you keep listening it is right on. I love it. Was that wolf man jack at 2:07? Sorry, maybe I'm living in past, you know where it is better than the NOW.

  • Oh man, what a huge talent! He just knew where ALL the notes were. He and Chet Atkins are my favorite guitar pickers of all time. RIP Les, you sure gave us a lifetime of great music, thank you. And thank you luciluce666 for posting this.

  • Che genio! è il migliore di tutti!

  • if there was only one listing in the dictionary for rock and roll it should say see les paul..........

  • He seems to be exploring the meaning of this song as he plays it.

  • damn... I wish that was my grand father. My old man is so fucking boring, he just argues about the loudness of guitars.

  • He lives on in over a billion guitars........x

  • RIP Les Paul

  • I play a fender and i love les's music, how cool am i.?

  • @yootesa1515 you suck

  • @AmigoFiell thats true you dont have to be peachy about it

  • that one person who disliked is jealous that an old man can play better than him god bless u les paul

  • Rest in Peace, Les.

  • 93 years old and still able to make people cry with the sound of his guitar... unique

  • PHENOMENAL !

  • hands down, one of the greatest. RIP

  • just Les Paul more haha

  • Les Paul was an actual pioneer Michael Jackson was not Les Paul invented a fucking guitar, Michael Jackson just learned how to sing in a style that was already around when he was a kid pushed by his dad he didn't invent anything he was a talented singer but his singing was 1/10000th as good as Les Paul's playing style, technique and talent not many like him, Michael Jackson could moon walk big whoop there's people that sing much better than him hes just famous for a bunch of pub. Love Both of em

  • This just made me tear up! His feeling for the music and his instrument even though his hands don't work the way they used to... Wonderful!

  • qué maestro el viejo este!!

  • why the fuck are people bringing up michael jackson? get a life.

  • I miss you so much

  • happy birthday les

  • Happy birthday my heroooo! :*(

Hello and goodbye les , the best of guitar heroes

  • Happy Birthday Les.

  • Weird, today is June 9th and I found this video... looks like someone also accidently clicked the thumbs down button. Hey, it happens. We all know Les Paul was amazing.

  • he lived 94 y coz music healed him all the time

  • Les Paul did as much to increase awesome in the field of music as anyone who ever lived. Thanks Les.

  • Les Paul is in heaven teaching god how to play guitar

    :D

  • @5150Nathan this is very funny, but maybe true :) he is teaching god to play on a Gibson Les Paul ;)

  • @5150Nathan That's right. Because even God knows that the devils music is better than gospel. lol jk

  • The best Example...you dont need alternate picking, no bendings, no shreds and no floyd whammys for really good music !

  • The Wizard is now here!

  • How many people is playing instrument that M jackson was developing. and how many people is playing gibson LP and copies of it... i BET LES PAUL WAS ONE OF KIND AND WE dont ever get so great musician in our world....

  • He still had it, even till the end. RIP LES PAUL!

  • Judy Garland introduced him during a musical tribute to Jerome Kern in 1944. Now here he is playing the song she introduced in 1939, and he makes it sound as fresh as ever. What an artist he was.

  • the sound quality sucks pretty bad and i though he was going to shred... xD

  • @KingOfShadows1500 Oh my. You don't watch much Les Paul videos, do you?

  • @Berserkedy nope i don`t! xD and after having seen this one, i don`t think i will! :P

  • @KingOfShadows1500 He's 93 with arthritis, the fact that he's playing this well is insane.

  • R.I.P. Les.

wish i could have seen him live myself. thank you sooo much for posting this video!

  • this is les paul is its own genre i love this guy although i never got to meet him i would have loved to meet him i get happy seeing him happy

  • No guitarist in history could ever compare to Les paul. He's a genius.

  • ture legend. still playing when he is 93 : )

  • @drutherford99

wether u meant PURE or TRUE legend, they're both correct! lol

    Godbless.

  • It would be so funny it he started to shred

  • So much more enjoyable to listen to/watch than Chuck Berry, and he was 10 years older than chuck!

  • Why would you say that? Why not just say that you think Les is great without hating on another artist.

  • @BlandBoy ./. Why put down Chuck Berry, when both Les Paul and Chuck Berry is awesome performers. Can't understand your point in this comment.

  • @allaboard70

It be not hard to understand.

What's CHuck Berry's excuse for the poor performances he's churning-out these days? If age is an excuse, well Les Paul was much older than Berry though was still able to put out quality performances.

  • wahhhhhhhhh wtf

  • Brings me memories. I´m so happy I saw this in 2005. He was so young on stage.

  • Les Paul did more for music than Michael Jackson could even dream of!!!

  • they were ONE field.......MUSIC. Michael Jackson was good, don't get me wrong. I'm just commenting on how the PUBLIC reacted to his passing. You'd think he was some kind of dignitary. Les Paul was a pioneer. Michael is STILL in the news. Les Paul just got a 60 second news bit......

  • Don't get me wrong I think Les Paul deserved more news coverage, but his death was not much a suprise, he was very old. Michael Jackson had an Elvis style death right before one of the largest concert tours ever thats why the media jumped on it.

  • @fngpkr Yes, but Michael Jackson was quite younger when he died. But I agree with you.

I do find it absurd that when Israel sends rockets into Palestine and kills 50 children they don't even talk about, but when one person dies it's the only thing in the news until 6 months after.

  • @fngpkr - So very true. Its an awful feeling when you lose people like him, Stevie Ray Vaughn and so many more, when they were the true pioneers of music, when it was real music, using real instruments, not computers. R.I.P Mr.Paul and forever more-NewYork.

  • Michael Jackson was a pioneer if you disagree than you don't know enough of either people to have an opinion that isn't biased to an instrument you like

  • @fngpkr les paul lived longer, and didnt have so much controversy around his name...

  • @fngpkr its because they made 287123 times more money with showing jackson all the time then they would made with les paul.

  • err, dude not hating on les paul or anything (may peace be upon him) but mj was a vocalist in pop music where as les is a jazz guitarist. they dnt really compare.

  • @fngpkr That´s like comparing apples to bananas.

  • @fngpkr But Elvis xx

  • good to see that it's still possible to play with badly arthritic hands..he developed an almost Django-esque technique with his 'good' fingers!

  • this man will live on forever with each and every les paul guitar that is played!!, not only that but almost every song that is recorded, this man is responsible for soo much in the world of music!!

  • Les Paul is a King.

  • Who has A GIBSON???

  • I have A GIBSON! :P (les paul)

  • Thats cool:)

  • You will be missed very much. Light em, up there Les. You played so smooth theres no wonder you liked the double soap bars.

A great one has left this world and will not be forgotten.

There will never be another Les but his spirit lives on in so many of us. I don't think we've heard the last of Les.

    RIP buddy

  • More than a legend. Rock on, forever.

  • RIP and thank you. He was 94.

  • He was 93?

    Fuck.

  • What an absolutely amazing man! An era has ended now Les Paul has died. He deserved more official acclaim and recognition by his country. He would have been knighted had he been English, for his outstanding contribution to the world of music.... A tear forms as I write... Thank You Les Paul...

    Mikey xx

  • A genuine god of Guitars and still going strong.

  • Guess not, huh?

  • speechless.

  • LOOK ITS LES PAUL ON A LES PAUL LOL

  • wow most 93 year olds can barely even move

  • i dont even see people live to be that old much, haha

  • In this world of instant guitar-legends it's a privelige to witness a true one. 93 years old and still obviously loving to play. We should be lucky.

  • My hat's off o you Sir. :)

  • i'm so afraid of watching this video, he looks like he's gonna collapse!

  • 93 and he can still play!

Sure, he's not as mobile like he was years back. But he can still play. Keep rockin, Les!

  • out of this world -- My total respect Sir - you still got it all !!!

  • Hey, this is really a surprise! I will buy a record. I've heard about this musican but I don't know him.

  • just Amazing! Brilliant!

  • after seein les paul live...no one can touch you! he is the man...im 15 and seen Chuck berry live! my dream is to see this man play a show...!

  • I remember when I was a kid watching him play and Mary Ford singing. It seemed to me he made his quitar talk!He is wonderful!

  • Amazing, i wish i could play half as good as that at 29, never mind 93!!! Total legend.

  • He's got melody in his soul and even with his hands crippled up he can still generate great music. Thank God for that! He's just got to be the single most important guitar player of the 20th century for so many reasons. No one gave more and played this good at the same time. Pure talent & genius!

  • Great job, considering his age. I know as you get older, your joints are not as limber.

  • amazing!!

  • that's so good he is great.

  • 93 and still going strong, just amazing. Thanks for sharing this.

  • The great Les Paul. Thank you so much for this video. Fantastic music all the way!

  • Ah, glad you enjoyed it. He still plays two sets here every Monday night. If you're ever in the city I'd try to scratch it in. He's a real great guy... even took time to sign my guitar!!!

  • Would you know how old you have to be to enter the Iridium? I'll be seventeen going to york for a trip and I'd love to catch a set. Thanks in advance if you know

  • Fairly certain it's all ages... because they carded me for drinks inside. It's a good spot, all about the music, tables to sit and no bar scene at all... like that old school NY Rat Pack supper club sort of vibe... gone a bit more casual.

  • Haha thanks man :) thats the way these clubs should be, all about the tunes
