Well actually he was a bit of a grumpy old fart in his later years. We did a job at his house in Mawah NJ in his old age he was a little nasty but then most old men are in many ways. God Bless Him he will live forever in all guitar performances and recordings to come
@R0ckstar666x Wheres the fail hes like 90 odds here and crippled with arthritis he was an awesome guitarist .If he was such a failure why did they name one of the best guitars after him lol
@R0ckstar666x sshut your irrogant mouth. id like to see you stand, or live at 93 let alone play guitar at a descent pace. Why are people like you making the world a shitty place to live now.
Does it matter how much attention his death got? As an electric guitarist I'd safely bet at least 80 percent of what you do is only possible because of Les Paul, that means even those guitarists who don't know who Les is are inspired by him. Les Paul is there everytime you plug in your guitar. Thats why his death didn't get the notice it deserved because he's not really dead
His timing seems wrong, but yet when you keep listening it is right on. I love it. Was that wolf man jack at 2:07? Sorry, maybe I'm living in past, you know where it is better than the NOW.
Oh man, what a huge talent! He just knew where ALL the notes were. He and Chet Atkins are my favorite guitar pickers of all time. RIP Les, you sure gave us a lifetime of great music, thank you. And thank you luciluce666 for posting this.
Les Paul was an actual pioneer Michael Jackson was not Les Paul invented a fucking guitar, Michael Jackson just learned how to sing in a style that was already around when he was a kid pushed by his dad he didn't invent anything he was a talented singer but his singing was 1/10000th as good as Les Paul's playing style, technique and talent not many like him, Michael Jackson could moon walk big whoop there's people that sing much better than him hes just famous for a bunch of pub. Love Both of em
Weird, today is June 9th and I found this video... looks like someone also accidently clicked the thumbs down button. Hey, it happens. We all know Les Paul was amazing.
How many people is playing instrument that M jackson was developing. and how many people is playing gibson LP and copies of it... i BET LES PAUL WAS ONE OF KIND AND WE dont ever get so great musician in our world....
Judy Garland introduced him during a musical tribute to Jerome Kern in 1944. Now here he is playing the song she introduced in 1939, and he makes it sound as fresh as ever. What an artist he was.
What's CHuck Berry's excuse for the poor performances he's churning-out these days? If age is an excuse, well Les Paul was much older than Berry though was still able to put out quality performances.
they were ONE field.......MUSIC. Michael Jackson was good, don't get me wrong. I'm just commenting on how the PUBLIC reacted to his passing. You'd think he was some kind of dignitary. Les Paul was a pioneer. Michael is STILL in the news. Les Paul just got a 60 second news bit......
Don't get me wrong I think Les Paul deserved more news coverage, but his death was not much a suprise, he was very old. Michael Jackson had an Elvis style death right before one of the largest concert tours ever thats why the media jumped on it.
@fngpkr Yes, but Michael Jackson was quite younger when he died. But I agree with you.
I do find it absurd that when Israel sends rockets into Palestine and kills 50 children they don't even talk about, but when one person dies it's the only thing in the news until 6 months after.
@fngpkr - So very true. Its an awful feeling when you lose people like him, Stevie Ray Vaughn and so many more, when they were the true pioneers of music, when it was real music, using real instruments, not computers. R.I.P Mr.Paul and forever more-NewYork.
Michael Jackson was a pioneer if you disagree than you don't know enough of either people to have an opinion that isn't biased to an instrument you like
err, dude not hating on les paul or anything (may peace be upon him) but mj was a vocalist in pop music where as les is a jazz guitarist. they dnt really compare.

What an absolutely amazing man! An era has ended now Les Paul has died. He deserved more official acclaim and recognition by his country. He would have been knighted had he been English, for his outstanding contribution to the world of music.... A tear forms as I write... Thank You Les Paul...

Les is a legend...michael jackson would have to stand on his mothers shoulders to kiss
Les Paul's ass. As talented as he was...michael is a joke, a cartoon image.
Jackson will never...I repeat never, have the enduring legacy that Les has!
The public will never understand this but musicians do.
