I go to a performing arts high school, and trust me, we are one of the most accepting schools of the LGBT community. Maybe this will help explain how being gay can affect others. When my step daughter was 14 her real dad announced he was gay, it was a very hard for her to deal with, her grades went down and she became very depressed. Then when she was 16 he had a sex change operation and became a woman, again a devastating blow to her. She is now 26 and I am still the father figure in her life. She still struggle with the choices her real dad made. Oh and her half sister he also had.

My parents aren't married but I was adopted and raised by two women. Growing up, it never mattered to me that I had two moms. I had people who loved me and gave me all I wanted and needed, and that's really all a kid needs growing up and there's no reason they can't get that from same-sex parents.

Maybe this will help explain how being gay can affect others. When my step daughter was 14 her real dad announced he was gay, it was a very hard for her to deal with, her grades went down and she became very depressed. Then when she was 16 he had a sex change operation and became a woman, again a devastating blow to her. She is now 26 and I am still the father figure in her life. She still struggle with the choices her real dad made. Oh and her half sister he also had.

The reason why female & male married couples and for example why military men and women who are married receive additional benefits and higher pay is because they are in a legal bond and have the capacity to create life. That is a vital part of humanity as they are the ones creating our future generations. Read Elizabeth Gilbert's book "Committment" as she gives a nice history of marriage practises throughtout time and culture. She believes that the only reason marriage has survived is because it has changed. throughout the ages. Now is no different. Marriage needs to change to accomodate gay ond lesbian relationships.
