  • Some other false cognates I've seen that might come up. Spanish speakers referring to their list of job experiences as thier curriculum, which is not correct; it's 'resume' (accent on final e). And Spanish and Portuguese speakers referring to their course of study at university as 'career.' This is not correct. It is your 'major.'

  • Wow, we are really in the minority on the use of 'actually.'

  • Very clear and useful lessons. Thanks so much.

  • Wow. GREAT Video. THANK YOU VERY MUCH

I need your help. I am studying in order to become a public english traslator and we are seeing sentence analyse such as, Subordinate clauses and classify them whether it is adverbial, noun or adjectival. Also i´d like you to explain the sunjunctive compliments. I would really appreciate if you explained that

Well keep on that, your whole classes are going 4 well!! see ya!

Please say hello to all of your friends and family in Israel!

    Steve

  • Great Great video!

  • that you have received several other job offers and that the company that is interviewing you is a strong candidate.

Think of it this way. When you don't have a girlfriend, no girl wants you. When you already have one, many more may want you..............

    Steve

  • =D What a nice metaphor!

Thanks for the advice. You are such an inspiring instructor.

Back to the job interview, I've heard similar reasons to the one you provide. They're career advancement, more room for career growth...Would the interviewer psychologically think that you might quit this job so as to have another "career move" after a while working there?

  • Hey Coolboxbueno!

Nice to hear from you again! Good point! In the case of my student who was working for a law firm in Paris, France, this was the case. The firm he was working for was, as he put it, going 'down'. You might say that it was a 'career move'and....

  • Steve, you certainly have a great sense of humor. I'm really interested in hearing more from you for the last point you're talking about in this video...what if it's a corporation that never seems to go downsizing? What other example reasons can you think of?

    Thanks.

  • Hey! I really recommend you take a look at my Test Prep videos to get a better idea about the TOEFL exam specification for the speaking section.

    I hope this helps!

    Steve

  • hi Steve! I wanted to ask to you: what do you recommend to me to prepare my toefl exam (other than your videos that I'm seeing and I have to say, I like them so much)?

I mean books, examples? I'm not very well at speaking I think I'm better at listening and writing.....:-(
