  • Everytime I go onto youtube, I find another brilliant piece of Bear McCreary. Seriously, BSG redefined Soundtracks for TV shows, they set the bar ridiculously high! - Nothing can ever, EVER compare to this!

  • @AnnMegFair Stargate Universe > BSG soundtrack

  • @AexCN625 definitely incredibly good as well! Still, I personally (maybe I should have added that in my initial statement ^^) stand by my point: BSG all the way.

  • This is *actually* \m/etal - Scott Ian of Anthrax played Guitar on the studio version of "Apocalypse", as he's a HUGE fan of the show, had an Official Blog on ScFi.com back in the day, and visited the set which resulted in a picture of him in a Viper. I'm pretty sure it's written in Pythia that my favorite TV Score and my favorite Thrash Band were destined to meet... :-D

  • just realised im the only one commenting on this :/, comeon peeps u can all manage 1 message

  • i listen to this every day

  • man what a song, better watch a horror movie, creapy but fascinating at the same time!

  • crap why does this give me chills and makes me wanna roll my fighter in a full drop with my hair on fire tryn to blast the next victim

  • he just called my hands a paw :( well take that you cylon ┌∩┐)

  • amazing intreaging entry...

  • remember this people, cavil fucked his mother lmao, multiple times too

  • @necessaryevil101 oh yeah, some fucked up child

  • I've watched C-Beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate.

  • Frak! This soundtrack is awesome.

  • I'm a Machine and I could know much more

  • the quote by cavil at the start, been looking for that for a long time

  • I bought the Plan on Blu-Ray and I don't even have the player to read it, I mean my parents do and it was amazing how I cryied before the images but still, I want my own BD Player ! ^^

  • No exit 4.17 has a more complete speech of Cavil.

  • I would love to know the translation of this.

  • @Battle5tarRJC It's the Gayatri Mantra from Sanskrit. The literal translation is "May we attain that excellent glory of Savitar the god:

So may he stimulate our prayers."

  • @Atowntrekkie got to say that language is beautiful sounding

  • @katarjin That's part of why I like it so much.

  • @katarjin the language is Sanskrit :) it is the language originated from original indo-arian, and from which derive hindi and other indian languages.

  • @katarjin ancient sanskript

  • what happend to ma toster!

  • @Ithilaraina it is called the gayatri mantra. there's alot good material online about it

  • I do too Lol... and I want to be sent out an airlock

  • Only two tracks from Bear McCreary's Battlestar Galactica soundtrack (including Mini Series and feature length episodes, etc) come close to the awesomeness of this. 'All Along The Watchtower' and 'Gaetas Lament'. This really is STUNNING. By far one of his best works.

  • @Illisia IF you ac tually listen it has the same lyrics as the main theme of battlestar (second one from later seasons) only sped up and with a different tune to it and of course lengthened.

  • @wingc1959 lol I am well aware that it is the theme tune for Battlestar Galactica. Indeed, Bear actually plagerises himself on several occasions, I know this all too well, but it does not make his music any less brilliant ;-) If you want another example, try listening to the Caprica main and end themes and then the main end themes for Dark Void. They have differing speeds, with slightly different notes here and there, different instruments, etc, but it really is the same track just repeated lol

  • @Illisia lol yeah like reuniting the fleet, farewell apollo there the same

  • @terrcraft18 Great composers (Hans Zimmer and Danny Elfman are two more examples) always rinse and repeat :-p In their defence, they add a little variety into each mix of course ;-)

  • Shivers... So many shivers running down my spine...

    Thank ye for sharing!

  • Does anyone have the lyrics?

  • @wuja2007 What'bout the previous comment to yours..?

  • @TylerMcManus1 thanks

  • Yes if we, we will try to make more advanced robots like in BSG we will end up like them :))))

  • Rewind to 2:55 and then listen... am I the only one who hears "Windows XP USB Device Plugged In" sound at 2:57? Just a coincidence, I guess.

  • @HomoCyberneticus 2:21 as well. I guess Microsoft has been mentally conditioning me all these years. :D

  • Amazing! I want be a maching too!

  • This was the first time I actually stayed for the credits because the music drew me in

  • Gladiator + 300 soundtracks = Awesome BSG!

  • SO SAY WE ALL, SO SAY WE ALL, SO SAY WE ALL!

  • The Cylons won the war, their revenge was taken and they could have focused on rebuilding "their" civilization on the colonies. Their obsession for completing the genocide of man stopped them from becoming more.......

  • @dukemorran1 They wanted god's Attention, that's why they decided to go after their brothers, both childrens of God (in their religion). They were consumed by Envy, that's why they did that. Specially the Asshole Cavil

  • @MrLEODUDE

Cavil wanted to be the absolute cylon leader, God in any form was getting in his way of being that, that is why he hated the faithful cylons and declared war against them. Cavil's plan was all about his power rather than the cylons freedom.

  • @dukemorran1 True. Crazy maniac looking for power, where did I heard that berfore?

  • Comment removed

  • @MrLEODUDE Pretty much every leader in history?

  • the music starts at 0:30

at 0:45 i was like, well this is shitty.

at 1:26 i was like, well this is okay.... not that hot

at 1:58 i was like holy shit.

i then proceeded to listen to this for like an hour on loop.

  • @TheBlueHandOfDeath I had the same reaction

  • @TheBlueHandOfDeath fucking amazing

  • @TheBlueHandOfDeath i watched the plan 3 times just to listen to the song at the end!

  • @Conor17777 sky movies is good to me : )

  • @TheBlueHandOfDeath so say we all

  • I want to kill worlds to this song! It is that good, as it is the Cylon version of the intro too!

  • Excellente chanson, elle me fais des frissons, elle est vraiment bien !

  • In my own opinion, the cylons were sloppy, I mean, if there was only 1 ship, they wouldn't send 4 base stars, if they had been chased and not destroyed this long id have a big massive fleet that could blow up galatica in less then a mili-second

  • @Mithrondly I understand where you are coming from, but the fleet basically had their finger on the jumpdrive the entire time. It's hard to send a huge fleet a large distance when you only have so much tylium. Also they did what you mentioned a few times, such as New Caprica and when they hit the checkpoint and everyone lost power. Galactica was saved both times by the skin of their teeth and all along the path the cylons were never completely determined in exterminating Galactica.

  • I wanna taste dark matter.

I bet it tastes like chicken.

  • JungleNin: I wanna taste dark matter. I bet it tastes like chicken.

Like all matter, dark matter has no flavor. How it "tastes" depends on the sensory apparatus you probe it with. To you it merely tastes chickeny. To we, it tastes of the shell that birthed Baby Chickesus. It tastes of the sharp tectonic crack when Chickesus emerged. It tastes of the future Mother Omega Egg you have not yet remembered, crowing, "Alpha Chicken! Omega Egg! Alpha! Omega! Alpha Om Egga! CHIKKA BITCH GODDISS ALIVE!"

  • @JungleNin id say ham

  • These bodies are limited.

  • I wanna see gamma rays too

  • At the begining it's a threnody for the dead, for all the inocents killed in the cylon's attack, but when the metal badassery of Scott Ian guitar comes at 1:30 it becomes something more, something more primal.

It becomes a prayer for hope, for strength and one single rebellious howling yell against the upcoming darkness.

Yeah, Humanity was almost destroyed, "almost" being the word... too bad Cavil and his gang did not count with one single tiny ship that kicked arse like nobody bussines.

    =D.

  • This is cool music. I hear the series is cool, too. Maybe I should watch it.

  • @lollerfisk Yes, you should. Take a week off from work and watch it back to back.

  • @Arconna Heh, best use of a week ever :)

  • @TheShadowCow I would so much like a week like that now.

  • The Cylons have a plan. They don't know what that plan is or even who is or isn't a Cylon, but they have a plan

  • Go Dean!

& ur the closest character to the book, in the film DUNE.

    one highly underrated talent.

  • SOmething about the entire series and music that keeps me feeling there is ...well something bigger than me.

    And I love it!

    Doc

  • Aum Bhoor Bhuwah Swaha,

    Tat Savitur Varenyam

    Bhargo Devasaya Dheemahi

    Dhiyo Yo Naha Prachodaya

  • @chipster5041 What does that mean?

  • @Hidarite100 Aum=Brahma; bhoor = embodiment of vital spiritual energy(pran) ; bhuwah = destroyer of sufferings ; swaha = embodiment of happiness ; tat = that ; savitur = bright like sun ; varenyam = best choicest ; bhargo = destroyer of sins ; devasya = divine ; these first nine words describe the glory of God dheemahi = may imbibe ; pertains to meditation dhiyo = intellect ; yo = who ; naha = our ; prachodayat = may inspire! "dhiyo yo na prachodayat" is a prayer to God
  • @Hidarite100 in conclusion it means " Oh God! Thou art the Giver of Life, Remover of pain and sorrow,The Bestower of happiness,Oh! Creator of the Universe,May we receive thy supreme sin-destroying light,May Thou guide our intellect in the right direction "

  • The Plan was very disappointing. Bear McCreary didn't disappoint with this theme though!

  • everyone know the lyrics?

  • I liked the boobies.

  • Absolutely loved this film!!!

  • Only Dean Stockwell could've said those lines and be taken seriously.

  • @Coelacanth1938 So true!

  • @Coelacanth1938 Yeah, this guy's good. He really takes his character role seriously and plays it with such passion and intensity that makes his character seem so believable and real!

  • @Coelacanth1938 yea literally no one would have said it better than him

  • @Coelacanth1938 I totally agree. It was in that moment I completely understood John and why he did what he did.

  • I know the prayer and it's meaning, the prononcuation of the words is off in this song, but no surprise it's prob created by someone that doesn't speak Hindi/Sanskrit

  • @razattack1337 different dialect? There are a lot of dialects in India

  • @slash667 Your point? I know it's sanskrit

  • They turned a hindu prayer mantra into a song.. lol nice :)

  • The whole BSG series is amazing, epic, and briliant. But to make it even better, we are fortunate enough to have such a talented composer to make the music for it. Bear McCreary is also amazing and extremely gifted.

  • who knows the music that was played before both Cavil's were airlocked and this music played afterwards.

  • I think most of u don`t see the big picture bsg is trying to give u - and its space for interpretation. You have so many mystical elements, so many "unsolved" questions, do u really think bsg wants to give u clear answers?

And I loved Cavill`s speech, for it is truely why he acts like he does. He doesn`t want to be human, because he isn`t human. He is caught between human & machine, tangeling with his fate, quivering with revenge, longing to be a machine, detached from his human limitations.

  • i luv brother cavill's speech before the prayer, its so like batty from bladerunner. a pained misunderstanding of what it is to be human, ignoring desire as something human. regardless, the prayer mixed wit bear's beats is superb!

  • Bear McCreary makes some of the best music I have ever heard in my life.

  • I wonder if they'll make a second "The Plan", since the story wasn't finished. It seems like it would finish with the six blowing her self up with the nuke and the cylons finding that and New Caprica.

  • @CJEJTHEDJ

EJO seemed pretty keen on making additional BSG movies after the plan, but RDM seems to be like "eh... Eddie's just a bit crazy there. BSG is done".

But they did take a full digital catalog of the sets. Just in case....

I agree though, It would have been nice if the plan was like 4 hours and had some more of the back story stuff before the attack on the colonies, and then stuff like Gina blowing up Cloud 9, up to New Caprica.

  • "Om bhur'bhuvah svah tatsaviturvarenyam bhargo

devasya dhimahi dhiyo yo nah prachodyat"

  • i feel sorry for cavil, in an ideal world we mite all be want we want to be, we'd all like to be something more

  • @TwiztedSound I'm wondering the same thing!

  • i got goosebumps

    im shaking

and almost crying...what the hell does this song to me?!

  • It is simple: the song touched your soul.

  • @TwiztedSound The words the woman sings are the gayatri mantra. Roughly translated, they mean: "O, Supreme Lord, The Source Of Existence, Intelligence And Bliss, The Creator Of the Universe. May We Prove Worthy Of Thy Choice And Acceptance; May We Meet Thy Glorious Grace. We Meditate On Thy Transcendental Light. Please Illuminate Our Intellect And Lead Us Unto Righteousness".

  • wow!

    thank you very much!

  • Legion19911009, where did you find those lyrics at ? I've been looking for those for a while.

    thanks for posting that !!

  • great movie and music. the nudity was somewhat surprising but that didnt matter much

  • OMG this song is actually an Indian prayer.

  • Yeah Gaurav -- the Gayatri Mantra was also used in the series' opening sequence for Seasons 2-4. (Here in the US, SyFy used different music for season 1's broadcasts.) The Apocalypse version in The Plan is nice though. Very nice.

  • @gauravgupta71 - Do you know where can I find the translation?

  • @DarthIre It is called GAYATRI MANTRA. U only put this on internet, there are thousands of translations... It's a beautiful pray mantra... and this song is beautiful as well... hope u find it, greetings from Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain!

  • @lauriemaniaca Thanks, Laurie. Greetings from Lake Stevens, Washington, USA

  • @gauravgupta71

It is, and the short variant version is also used as the beginning theme for all of BSG episodes too.

  • @gauravgupta71 Hindu, not indian ;)

  • @gauravgupta71 what is the actual name of the prayer?

  • This is the Gayatri Mantra.

  • @gauravgupta71 there are actually several Indian prayers used in the series. Cool tie in to our modern times I think

  • @gauravgupta71 What does it mean? And anyways it sounds awsome! This is my favorite song of all times

  • @Vladz0r5 Oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ

    Tat savitur vareṇyaṃ

    Bhargo devasya dhīmahi

    dhiyo yo naḥ pracodayāt

    O earth, atmosphere, heaven:

May we attain that excellent glory

    of Savitr the God:

So may he stimulate our prayers

  • @gauravgupta71 Which one? And which of the gazillion Indian religions and languages? :P

  • This song is the ultimate "beggining of the end" thing ! Bear is the best ! I can feel so much when I listen to his music... I can cry too.

  • Thank you for posting this. I frakking love this track and the itunes version is a live recording that doesn't really capture how terrifying and awesome this song is. Bear, you've done it again.

    -Woody

  • "The Plan" is awesome, but watch it after "No Exit" in season 4. Not a moment before.

  • SO

I wanna get into this series

    Is it fucking worth it!?

  • I highly recommend BSG. I'm normally not into sci fi and it has really raised the bar. I'm actually re-watching the series since it's winter break and I have nothing better to do. Season 3 is the best IMHO.

  • Cool

Already getting it on netflix right now.

  • @KizerxxKinnia i dont think you'll be disappointed.

  • Well, got the mini series disc on netflix, at first was really kinda weird/had lots of flaws, but the storyline got better + the action, so now I'm hooked.

  • the start of season 3 was fantastic after s03E11 it kinda got bad for like 6 eps.

  • In all honesty, I must agree. It was because of Sci Fi's meddling and they wanted BSG to be more episodic. The Woman King was by far the absolute worst BSG episode ever. Dirty hands seemed episodic, but at least seemed relevant and BSG like.

  • i think The Woman King was a murder mystery kind of thriller episode to give more insight into the racism and cultures living in the fleet, it wasn't awful if you ask me, just mildly irrelevant to the storyline as a whole

  • Definitely! Its one of those shows that I look back on as a great sci fi epic!

  • Yes

  • @msa1985

What you say is soooo not true. If you want to see a little bit of Cyclon perspective than watch The Plan.

  • Saying that Shelley Godfrey is Angel Six is a completely stupid idea. And the only people that think the plot of the entire story were never listening to the most important, and meaningfull spoken point of dialog in the entire series. It just happens to be the first spoken line of Dialog in the Episode 33. instead of needing to invent your own understandings of a show you can't comprehend, don't assign your own mishapen theories as to what you think it's about. eople like you hated the finale.

  • It adds more insight in the cylons.

  • @msa1985 it was like a lost episode, what's wrong with that? the show is over. it's not like it would've been a continuation and it couldn't have changed the storyline or people would've been pissed. chill.

  • @MSA1985

Sorry but I don't agree, one of the things I found disconcerting about season 4 is that everything was so compressed. I did not full understand why the Cylon had a civil war . The plan gives more background to the build up to New Caprica and the Cylon Civil war.

In essence, the Cylon became more Human because they actually got more experience of emotion, and the Humans became more Cylon in order to survive. This track IMHO embodies that. If you understand Ancient Eastern thought..

  • Which of course is your taste and opinion, others may disagree and neither of both us may be right. By the way what do you like? You told what you didn't.

  • @msa1985

I have to correct you. The civil war breaks out right after four of the last fife are revealed. A raider scans Anders' viper during battle and they stop fighting. That takes place after the rescue of New Caprica.

  • hell.fucking.yes. *sorry if you dont like cursing, but it is THAT worth it

  • fuck

  • @KizerxxKinnia

Yeah man..watch it! Going through the series for a third time at the moment, still loving it.

  • since seeing the PLAN it really didnt bring me any closer to the show but bear mcrreary and raya yarbrough on the other hand Im now very interested in Doin a bit of research on the theme I find out that its a 3000 year old mantra it just gives the movie so much

  • "...only the machine keeps using time to make time to make time. And when the machine stops, time is an illusion that we've created. Free will, 12 battles, 3 stars, and then we are countless as the bodies wich we dwell are both parent and infinite children in perfect copy. No degradation."

    I <3 Hybrids :P

  • I always felt the difference was more like between a battleship and a cruiser. With the Valkayries being more of a common design to supplement the large ships and perform roles that wouldn't suit a Mercury, like fleet reconnaissance or attacking low priority targets

  • I agree SL01.

  • i think valkyrie is much more for stealth and fire support (like today´s missile cruisers are suppossed to be)... Mercury-Class Battlestars are the most powerful in a close combat ship2ship fight

  • Best scene in The Plan was the shot of several battlestars going into battle over Caprica. I am not certain, but I think these BSs are different from any we saw in the series. They looked even more bad-ass than the Pegasus.

  • Comment removed

  • No there's actually two times ya get a look at them. One; in Razor, when the ship yard gets attacked. Two; when Adama has a flashback to when he commanded the Valkyrie. They are bad-ass.

  • Zagon:

Help me out here. Are you saying that Valkyrie and the 2 BS shown in the battle scene in The Plan are all of the same class? I could be totally wrong, but the 2 BS in The Plan looked larger than anything they had shown b4, including Valkyrie and Pegasus. I admit that the scene in Razor at the shipyards went so fast that I don't recall what those other BSs looked like.

  • Those ships are the same as the Valkyrie, and they are smaller than both Pegasus and Galactica. Though they are very similar to Pegasus, there's about 500m difference, let alone the "valkyrie" class is a thin stealthy ship. Agreed Razor did go fast, the only way i could tell was the nose of the ship.

  • Thanks for clearing that up, Zagon. Can I ask you one more thing: is there any BS class more powerful than the valkyrie class? Maybe the flagship of the fleet, the Atlantia?

  • Rear Admiral Helen Cain commanded the Pegasus, a Mercury class battlestar.

Though this is mere conjecture, it stands to reason therefore that the Mercury class is the most powerful BS there is.

A rear admiral isn't likely to command anything else.

The Pegasus could built vipers. It did well when it got bushwhacked by three baseships in the Captains hand.

And it could clearly outfight the Galactica.

Twice the size of Galactica, yet needs half the crew.

Soundstop of the range to me.

  • If the Atlantia was admiral Nagala's actual command, I would think the Atlantia would be a very powerful BS.

    Probaly a mercury class.

Of course, its possible Admiral Nagala had transferred his command to the Atlantia as he was unable to reach his own BS during the cylon attack. In which case the Atlantia might be any type of BS.

I would think Nagala would pick the most powerful available BS as his command, so the Atlantia would still be high up the BS rankings.

    Mercury class is my pick.

  • There are definitely more powerful BSs than valkyrie, Pegasus would be my first example. However the Atantia was made flagship during the Cylon Attack after Fleet Headquarters on Picon was destroyed, so Admiral Nagala probably took the next best thing after his ship was destroyed. It's likely to be Mercury class seeing as the Mercury class battlestars are advanced capital warships. They are top of the line so they probably take the head of any fleet.

  • Nagala took over because there was apparently no one else left.

Who knows where he ranks, but presumably he ranked high up.

At that juncture in the show, there was still 3/4 of the fleet left.

And someone had to try and do something. Like make their own BS the command center, or transfer their command to the best BS available.

From what we have seen of the colonial fleet, the Mercury class looks the most powerful battlestar out there.

  • The Pegasus/Mercury class is much bigger than the Valkyrie. So is the Galactica.

Just take a look at the size of the vipers compared to the Valkyrie and the other Valkyrie type battlestars.

Make the same comparison with the Pegasus and Galactica. You can barely see the vipers in relation to the Peg and Gal.

No so with the Valkyrie type battlestars.

At the Scorpio shipyards, the Pegasus was the biggest ship docked.

I have no idea how the raiders could miss that.

  • If you look at the BS's when they loose power, I'm pretty sure the first one actually says Valkyrie on it. Could just be an easter egg though.

  • Any one know what the frak this song talking about?

  • From the Battlestar wiki:

    Oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ

    Tat savitur vareṇyaṃ

    Bhargo devasya dhīmahi

    dhiyo yo naḥ pracodayāt

    O earth, atmosphere, heaven:

May we attain that excellent glory

    of Savitr the God:

So may he stimulate our prayers.
