  • It may sound like a traditional song but Tommie wrote it in, I believe, the 60's

  • we attended a peformance in '97 in wash, dc. one clancy lost his sweater and requested one from the audience. later, backstage we got the sweater and liam said where he would be going. we spent a long night there with songs and liam reciting stories as only an irishman can. at the motel they sang for us.

  • i had the privalage to see them in 1966 in Hamilton in Scotland they were out of this world they had everyone on their feet the best night ever

  • My Dad used to sing this all the time when I was growing up. It's a beautiful song!

  • LP sound is quality though. How do you go about uploading from an LP onto a PC?

  • This like this version but the best one i have heard was actually a singer that sang it in Michael Flatley's Celtic Tiger - Four Green Fields ya can see it on youtube.

i think she gets the point accross and the guy has really strong Vocals... Makes my blood boil every time i hear this one...

  • Beautiful! I have a version on CD (Songbag) but this one is better despite the sound quality. Tommy Makem was the best!

  • @TheJoetowngirl He sure was. I apologize for the lack of quality in the sound. This was taken from an old LP. This is the first version of the song that I know of.
