  • What instrument's producing that awesome ringing sound at 4:26?

  • @RogueRotting360 Well nothing is struck at that point in time. Just prior to that there is a strike upon the 34" Symphonic gong followed by Tuned gong C and then the largest petalumine. The petalumine is invented and hand built by myself and rings on for 5 minutes after one hit. I am also doing ululation with this. So in truth it is a combination of all these but with the Petalumine in the foreground. There are some 19 of these used in this improvisation. These are rich in harmonics.

  • Have you ever heard a Sabian 10" AA Mini Hat? Those 2 cymbals would sound great with your collection, especially with a soft mallet. This is great to fall asleep to. Thanks!

  • Did you manufacture or purchase most of these items yourself? This kind of collection is unfathomable to one who's not only just started his own, but is living off of minimum wage!

  • @11Frodo11 Well please understand that I began making music in 1964. Got my first gong in 1968 from a junk shop, first bowl 1971. SO I've been buying for a while now! I did invent and make several of the instruments - those that are unique in the world. You can find details on my website under invented instruments otherwise on MySpace - connection via my Home page or Frank Perry 111 on MySpace. I have always been of humble means.

  • very relaxing :)

  • Beautiful thankyou for sharing :)

  • I like the 7:50 sound

  • Well, just prior to 7:50 is the Tuned Symphonic gong from PAISTE C two octaves below Middle C just after 7:50 is the PAISTE Sun Gong. Both are 38 inch diameter. The Tuned Gong is gorgeous so probably that one - got it in 1979 as a gift from a friend!

  • I may buy one of your bowls in a few months... you have a great passion for them

  • This is so healing. Thank you from all my heart.

  • Many thanks from the botto of my heart - it means so much to me. You could listen to more of my music on MySpace under frankperry111 - 10 tracks! DEEP PEACE is on there and some very long tracks too. Some of the music here with the paintings of Nicholas Roerich are well recorded and may also help you.

    May peace be with you.

    Frank

  • I'm almost shocked about the little amount of views of those "videos". It's something EVERYBODY should hear at least once in a lifetime. Lucky I got curious into all kinds of sounds lately, otherwise I wouldn't have found this.

    Thank you !

    Namaste

  • WOW those sounds just go on and on - out of this world! What are they - I've never seen them anywhere before? A welcome reminder of the stillness of the Solstice and a peace we all need. Thanks for sharing. Those Gongs! - talk about Deep!!!! This guy is something of a master - he's totally into It! - no separation between himself and the sounds. I loved it when he changed the sound with his mouth.

  • Well, it is true you will not have seen them before. I have invented and made them in 1979 and I called them Petalumines in honour of Harry Partch. They are made out of the special metal that the Swiss company PAISTE uses (I am an endorsee of theirs since 1973). I am glad you liked them and it is a joy to share their sounds.
