Spotted Towhee chicks in nest being fed by mother bird

I think the shell is actually bird poop! I watched Bewick's Wren parents take the same thing from a birdhouse nest in my yard. There was no poo in the house when the 6 or 7 chicks were gone! Beautiful pictures!
