  • @TOSportsFan1990 I would too

  • i think this is from Don Kirschner's Rock Concert show

  • fuckin' awesome!

  • Rush are still proving to be one of the best three-piece outfits out there especially in the live arena.

They are still plying their trade with grace and a smile which is really good to see.

They have never had any "dillusions of grandeur" or "visions of splendor" as Neil would say. (Cinderella Man)

  • @ecapa0020 Geddy wrote those actually.

  • Let's all bow down and say "Holy shit they wrote and recorded this at 16 years old?????" (1971)

I saw this lve when they were 17 with John Rutsey on drums and they were outrageous and still are.

  • @TheOldRockerDog

yeah imagine that...same age as Justin Bieber....wonder what the hell happen to this planet?????????????

  • @jfmayer Uh, the same thing that happens to this planet everyday. Age, change. Nothing lasts forever.

  • first concert with neil

  • Comment removed

  • 3 people aren't in the mood!!!

  • Perhaps the only Rush song to contain the word "baby". Thats what makes Rush great

  • @TOSportsFan1990 Not too many Rush songs with cow bell either.

  • @sejlane superconductor this la villa strangiato and there are 1 or 2 more

  • haha awesome pimp suit

  • It's because of vids like this that I LOVE YOUTUBE. but not as much as i love geddys pimp suit.... wow, neil b4 the 6 8 10 12 inch concert toms....sweet.

  • Haha look at Alex. He's kinda cute back then o.O. They all looked pretty weird.

  • @CookieMischief8 alex was pretty cute

  • Simply Stunning!! Rock on RUSH

  • These guys hold a well deserved position right behind the Beatles and Rolling Stones in third place in the total number of albums that went Gold or Platinum! RUSH ROCKS!

  • You could just tell by playing, that it's Neil!!!

  • These guys were actually drunk while performing this. Hahahhahaah.

  • @TheRushXanadu Ya, that and the fact that Rutsey quit in '74

  • @poddish ACTUALY he was let go. john was a diabetic and he like to drink and not take care of himself so they belived if they brought him on tour they "would be brining him home in the box. watch Rush Behind the Lighted Stage

  • this is on their first album right

  • Oh, I mean...RUSH'N'ROLL!!!!

  • RUSH=THE HOLY TRINITY!!!

    ROCK'N'ROLL!!!!!

  • @TheRushXanadu but neil joined the band in 74 so how can it be john rutsey???

  • who's playing the drum kit

  • @TheMaster8061 its neil

  • geddy looks like the wicked witch of the west lolol epic...dress alex as the scarecrow and neil as the tinman!

  • It isnt very often that Alex did a background vocal always thought the chorus was just geddy overdubed I think subdivisions was the only word that alex muttered into the mike he he he RUSH FOREVER

  • ME GUSTA ESA EPOCA

  • Geddy looks... (finish this sentence)

  • @Xeivous That's one ugly chic!

  • @Zboots

    thats a GUY dumbass

  • @Xeivous Noooooo..... really?

  • Some how, Rush manages to blend with the times without ever selling out.

  • I love alex's hair in this video!!

  • RUSH N ROLL.....

  • WHERE THE HELL DID THIS VIDEO COME FROM???

  • I like Glenn Miller's version.....

  • @korgri HAHAHA! I AGREE :)

  • @korgri

    dude, their NOTHING similar

  • "it's cool to see that they still play this live to this day !"

If by that you mean they haven't played it since the Presto tour in 1990 then yes, they still play it to this day.

  • @xxxx15us they played in the mood on the exit stage left tour, grace under pressure tour, and a show of hands tour and the presto tour.

  • @TheMaster8061 I don't understand what you're trying to say other than you own those videos. There was no "A Show of Hands" tour, that's just the name of the live cd and video from the Hold Your Fire tour. In the Mood was also played on the Signals tour, Power Windows tour, etc. They played it on every tour up through Presto and then not since. I already said that. Someone else said they still play it to this day but they haven't played it in 20 years. I had sarcastically pointed that out.

  • lol ! early rush is soo ROCK n, ROLL..a far cry from what they started doing after caress of steel...it's cool to see that they still play this live to this day !..probably the only tune you'll hear geddy sing the word BABY in any rush song !..lol !1 super cool !

  • @blica1 LOL you said far cry..

  • @ipvideogames yeah..and ?..what's funny about that ?..don't get it ..

  • @blica1 oh its nothin big, i just noticed you said far cry while explaining a point, and since far cry is a newer rush song, i just saw the coincidence.

  • @ipvideogames oh , ok !..lol !..completely forgot there was a rush tune with that name !

  • say, who's that girl playing the guitar? oh wait, that's alex lifeson.

  • I am so glad I got to see them back then!!! This was great to see live!!!!!!

  • i want alexs hair!!

  • Rush is the best then,it is the BEST now! Long live Rush!!!

  • Geddy sang like he was on helium in those days.

  • @swr112261 According to the legend, his voice was extremely high as a result of singing without a microphone during the early days when Rush was still a garage band. Whether it's true or not is anyone's guess but he was also 35 years younger. His voice changed a bit by the time of Signals.

  • @lakefloor nah, it was before that... he was a soprano in his school choir

  • What time is it? It's a Quarter to Eight? I feel I'm in the mood- for more Rush and cowbell.

  • back before neal pert got lost in his colossal forest of percussion instruments.

  • @notgay89 ...he that can...does...;-)

  • @notgay89 Neil Peart

  • OMG!!! :DDDDD that scream at 1:28!!!! AAAAMAAAZING!!!! geddy looks &sounds good :D

hes making me in the mood! haha

  • ac/dc sucks.... plain and simple

  • Long Hair, was the furthest thing from style ever. Long Hair was grown in order to Stick It To "The Man"!

    Long live RUSH, And Rock!

  • long live the 70s!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Suddiefats but "The Man" ruined rock with MTV

  • @Suddiefats but "The Man" ruined rock with MTV

  • @Suddiefats whats rock and roll without long hair. I don't even want to imagine what geddy lee would look like without long hair! No ones better then rush. maybe as good, but not better. Stick it to the man all the way!

  • cowbell and lack of conditioner

  • @godfree2canada Hahahaha

  • This has got to be the most classic of classic videos--Alex with the glam hair

  • Having long hair was not just a "fashion" statement, it was a lifestyle. No disrespect but if you didn't live it you wouldn't you wouldn't understand.

  • i forgot to say 2 things-

YES IT IS LIVE not lip sync

and YES THEY WERE THAT TIGHT.

    SMILE.

  • if you look closely you can see me front row, just past the camera pit..BEST SHOW EVER.

  • thats sick dude, your fucking lucky to have attended

  • @buckwheat45735 Fuck you... your making me jealous. :P i wish I was there. Always wanted to go.

  • @buckwheat45735 u kno now that everyone that watches this vid hates you now beacuse were sitting THAT close to geddy lee !! O.O ur one lucky dude

and i will forever now be enivous!

  • not true finding my way uses the word baby many times

  • it wasnt just john rutseys health that made him leave the band it was also musical differences that led them to look for another drummer

  • Comment removed

  • Another great vid... Thanx for posting.

  • i have a feeling in the next album the lyrics "Hold on, baby, hold on." will appear somewhere

  • I like your mom's taste in music. Congrats for that.

  • I seen them live in76,77,79,80everytime

they just got better still have most of there LPs long live RUSH

  • I'm jealous at you!

  • Best Rush album: A Farewell to Kings

  • A Farewell To Kings is one of my favorites. Along with Fly By Night and 2112.

  • true!, good one. This song was so "un-Rush" even for 1974-1975. Even so, they made it rock. For me this band reached its greatest potential from 2112 forward. But their earlier stuff is still classic. Even their debut is ok despite having the horrible Jon Rutsy on drums.

  • its because neil peart wasnt their lyricist

and yea this stuff is classic

  • wow! thanks randy, I did not know that.

  • i sure do miss alex's kimono

  • I remember when i was about 8 years old, recording this song from the radio on my sears tape recorder(no radio, just tape recorder with built in mic) on a cheap Kmart tape. I listened to it until the tape stretched and warped. Then i bought Moving Pictures. Those were the days.

  • @analyticana Hahaha nice.

  • wow.

You are pretty ignorant person i must say.

Having the balls to tell someone to roll over and die over the Internet....

I think you must have a pretty sad and pathetic life to start an argument over a rock band.

I Hope your life gets better in the future :)

  • What did you said?

  • Dressed for DISCO.. LOL.

  • i saw a pic of geddy back then with a shirt that said disco sucks :P

  • GEDDY + ALEX + NEIL = RUSH baby!!!!

  • There are only two Rush songs i don't like. "Dog Years" on Test for Echo, and "I THink I'm Going Bald" on COS. Best Rush album is GUP in my oppinion.

  • the first album isnt prog rock BUT i will agree its weird beyonce is in his name

  • O this is the year when they opened up for zz top and the fans kept cheering for Rush and the management for zz top had to pull the power on Rush because zz top was embarassed.

  • why there songs are much better back then then they are now

  • because today the record companies are only interested in making money, not music. My 20-something kids are only into 70's rock.

I lterally grew up with Rush...Geddy's sister was in my class and I lived a few blocks away from the basement they were playing in.

does anyone have 'Take a Friend'? It's the only one I can't find on YT! (and my vinyls are long gone)

  • well ill tell you what the record companies would make alot more money from me if they started making music again

  • because they were young.

  • rush is the type of the band that everysong u listen 2 by them is good

  • Yeah, when people ask me my favorite Rush song, I have to name about 50 songs.

  • Comment removed

  • that's modern prog shit, proper prog is band slike pink floyd, king crimson, yes, gong etc. rush were latecomers to the prog seen and dream theater are joke

  • pink floyd is NOT PROG ROCK! they are psychedelic rock, floyds only prog album was Animals and that was kinda shitty

  • yeah, only because they're a lot more famous for their prog stuff, than their earlier led zeppelin rips. You could never class In The Mood as prog rock by any stretch of the imagination.

  • I saw RUSH as the opening act for Nazareth in 1974. I went in as a devoted Nazareth fan and left as a RUSH fanatic. Nazareth was great but RUSH was a juggernaut.

  • That is so cool! Unfortunately, I was born in the 90s so I missed them in the early years. I did see them live on Snakes and Arrows though. They still rock!

  • does anyone know where on the internet i can listen to this in studio version for free?

  • stacy208, buy the albums, you can listen to them all you want.

  • i would not say it is progressive yet,

but i get what you are saying :)

  • I've been a Rush fanatic since I was 10....wow, 32 years of RUSH ! haha....I love these old clips, reminds me of the days where we carried in coolers of bottled beer underage and security was bought off for a joint....kids these days will never know what they missed...

  • cinnful1, ever been to a Phish show? last one I was at, I was asked at the gate, "Are you carrying any drugs other than marijuana?" That was a state trooper in Maine, at IT.

  • Yeah, funny you should mention that...about 17 years ago I was at a Phish show where several of us were passing a bowl around in plain view of the police who basically just watched us finish it and lost interest...as long as no one was creating a disturbance it didn't seem to bother them at all. Besides, it would be hard to bust the entire crowd, everyone was openly smoking. Ahhh...those were the days...

  • Rush, second-most under-appreciated band ... Grand Funk is first. First band ever to have its first 10 albums go platinum ... and NEITHER are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! To me, without either of these bands, there IS NO R&R HOF. How can they claim to have one, with Rush? Without Grand Funk? And I'll even throw in my main man, Todd Rundgren?? No .... these are the type of people who made R&R what it is today.

  • Geddy Lee & RUSH Make A Cameo Appearance In The Film "I LOVE YOU MAN" In Theaters On March 20, 2009 VERY COOL..........

  • I know!! I was so stoked about that :D

  • Brings back many memories. Outstanding! Thanks for posting this!

  • oh yeah? that's awesome. i was surprised when he told me they played there.. pembroke's a pretty small place.

  • idi i just witness a youtube long lost friend finding lol

    beautiful just beatiful

  • best let go, mr. gatsby

  • rush played at my dad's high school in this year, pretty cool.

  • nice!

  • Rush's first 5, 6,...7 albums were probably the best music ever recorded. Superb musicianship, excellent themes and lyrics...and intelligence and a sense of education behind it all. As great as they are acknowledged to be, they are STILL the most under-rated, neglected band... as rodney dangerfield would say..no respect! If i ever get stuck on that stranded island, i don't want one Album..I want one band and that's ...RUSH!

  • I'm surprised they were playing gigs that large after only their first album

  • they still rock, even if they're not what they used to be, do you all still look like ya did 20 years ago???time for reflection..never..ever judge..look within first..just a thought..think about it, you may be surprised! :)

  • They sound fantastic, but it needs more cowbell!
