For my money one of the the best songs ever written by arguably the greatest songwriter this country ever produced. Had he lived a bit longer and gave us a few more albums we would be mentioning Ronnie Van Zant with names like John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, Bob Marley, Neil Young, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards whenever a list of rocks greatest songwriters was tossed out. Still should be regardless of the lack of longevity.
@0609sean ... agreed !!! .. One More From the Road is in my top 5 favorite live albums of all time ! Right up there with " Live and Dangerous" from Thin Lizzy
Ronnie will live forever...no matter what, just open your ears!! OMG!! If nobody can't listen to this song & get the MEANING of it...YOU are NOT fucking LISTENING!!!! Love you always Ronnie....gone with the wind............................
@leonetski i seen Lynyrd Skynyrd in 76'.....never gave his brother the chance, but seen LS again last year and absolutely amazed at the performance...FUCKIN AWESOME
Read some of these comments. It's not fair. Sure, Ronnie Van Zant WAS Lynyrd Skynyrd. But the guys in the band now, who are all in their late 50's, are doing a hell of a job keepin that flame burning. Saw them live not too long ago and it was worth every dollar to hear these songs again. Not the same band, but still worth it. Let's face it people, nothing in life stays the same.
@ all who are bagging on the current lineup of Skynyrd:
I see the 1990's and beyond incarnations of the band more as a tribute band. No, it's not the real thing. Sadly, the real thing can never be again, simply because most everyone from the 1970's is gone.
From what I understand, the band is still there to pay tribute to the music, which they do well.
Also, Judy Van Zant owns the name. If she wasn't okay with the band continuing to exist as Skynyrd, it wouldn't. PERIOD.
@shytownmofo you just dont understand shytown....its not about whats what or who's what. its about living. these fellas are part of our lives, and theres no way to change it!
playing foosball in the Memphis TN USO. stepped outside and smoked a fat joint. RIP Ronnie. that plane crash left a real big hole, in music and our lives hey basshead- check out Drive By Truckers, Rebel Son and Slobberbone (or now the Drams) still wonder where those Marines are and if they still listen to this kinda shit.
34 years today - Very hard to beleive it's been all this time now. I was 15 in '77 and remember this all to well because I had tickets for the Boston Garden that Nov. = I still have the tickets.
Way too many folks raggin' on the current lineup.....the point is....u don't have to miss this music live. Gary is making sure that everybody plays the songs as awesome as is humanly possible and Johnny, (who admitidly only sounds simular to RVZ). Ronnie was once quoted as saying that his youngest brother has the "Best voice in the family". Get over it people....buy a ticket if they come to your town. You'll be soooo glad u did!
@RedNeckRocker491 You cant replace a RVZ with somebody else and say heres LYNYRD SKYNYRD. Thats like putting somebody on stage and saying heres ELVIS, cant be done. And we know who had best voice and it can only be RVZ. Irreplaceable, yea they can play the music, but Ronnie was best frontman i believe ever. No dancing around, no breaking guitars, not ripping his shirt off, just grab the mic look the audience in the eye and let it rip. And nobody done it better, so i guess im just not over it.
NYE- THIS IS A SONG OF LOST LOVE AND I CRY EVERYTIME I HEARE IT!! why BECAUSE OF YOU.. I LEAVE U BEHIND ALL THE TIME I DONT WANT TO LEAVE U BEHIND ANYMORE ever!!!-NYE!! i love you!!
@HELP41ME It's Tuesday and its not gone!! My love grows deeper for u every passing second!! i cant stand not having u with me I 'm still leaving you behind and its ripping my heart out!! You Will never be gone with the wind.. I feel like if I cant touch you see you I'll explode!! NYE- u may be many miles but i cant ride my blues away!! I cant and wont carry on without u my love!! Your not gone with the wind!!!!! NYE I LOVE YOU!!!!
one of my favorite grps of the 70's, I listened to this song as a teenage girl to go to sleep to. Sure miss these guys, always think what if, if they hadn't died, what other good music would we have gotten to listen to. What if?????
I LOVE THIS SONG, AND I HAVE JUST PUT ON A COVER OF IT, CHECK IT OUT, JUST ON MY CHANNEL AND YOU'L SEE IT, I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT, ROCK ON SKYNYRD!!!
Ronnie always wore bell bottoms because he was always bare footed on stage. Ronnie was very short in stature as he was only like 5'8" but he was one tough SOB, but he never wore those huge cowboy boots to make himself look taller.
he was asked why not? He said he liked feeling the heat of the stage on his bare feet! It made him feel more alive!

Words cannot describe this band accurately , "legends" for lack of a better word. Such a tragedy the events that took place october 22 , 1977. ((Thumbs up for Lynyrd Skynyrd))
I Live RIGHT around the corner frm the school Theze Guys were kicked out of......I LIVE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER FROM THE STOMPING GROUNDS OF THE GREATEST ROCK BAND EVER..!!.......May GOD Rest Their SoulS.....
Tonight picking through all the versions of this song.
Leonard Skinner just passed away. Check the Jacksonville newspaper website for the story.
This version of the song, and the "demo" studio version, really add to what the band had in mind. I dearly love hearing the Hammond B-3 in this version after he moves off the piano solo, which is better in that demo version.
I'll love this song forever...... the first few notes hit you in the heart and the gut at the same time... EVERY time. Never fails! Awwwww...... Remember in school the kids didn't know how to spell words like DOG - but every folder had LYNYRD SKYNYRD written on it! Mine did!
my son put a video together when our dog Maxie died, this song will forever touch me. I miss you Maxie. xoxoxoxo

Words cannot describe this band accurately , "legends" for lack of a better word. Such a tragedy the events that took place october 22 , 1977. ((Thumbs up for Lynyrd Skynyrd))

Leonard Skinner Gone With The Wind....
Age 77, which is also reminisent of when the first band died 1977

Tonight picking through all the versions of this song.
Leonard Skinner just passed away. Check the Jacksonville newspaper website for the story.
This version of the song, and the "demo" studio version, really add to what the band had in mind. I dearly love hearing the Hammond B-3 in this version after he moves off the piano solo, which is better in that demo version.
