@schneke1 your rebuttal proves your inability to capacitate the difference between a culture and a situation. Why wouldn't an African Tribes woman want a baby? They are very useful and necessary to the prosperity of their tribes existence. Your use of the word "often" is a conclusion derived from your lack of corroborated data on the subject. Your response is centric of your own culture and as you would say "privileges" (misspelled by the way). life is life regardless of culture or creed.

@schneke1 Pregnancy and childbirth are natural functions of life. It isn't complicated. The mentally handicapped are capable of figuring it out. You should consider research on the world perceptions of fertility and birthing practices. Some women deliver their children behind their hut in the weeds squatting to catch their own child. There isn't any anesthesia, help, celebration, or hallmark card to mark the occasion. Screaming and jumping around are very vain reactions.

@schneke1 I'm not miserable or cynical. Having babies isn't anything special. It's quite easy as it's a natural part of life. I don't dance around and call all of my friends screaming every time I pass feces. Culturally we've accepted babies as the end all be all. Getting knocked up at 15 is a peril, but pregnant at 25 is a miracle. I have my own kids, I've also sought adoption. I'm not shooting at the hip here.

If you think its "difficult", consider adopting because at least then you're part of the solution, not the problem. there is nothing to jump round for until the child is born.

This is ridiculous.  I don't understand the excitement in finding out your pregnant. Getting pregnant is the easy part. Having a healthy child is the moment to jump around with excitement.

I'm not ready for a baby, being nineteen and all, but when I do get married and find out I am pregnant, I'll be jumping around the room screaming with joy and I know my family will too. That is unnecessarily cruel. Life is hard but life is also a blessing. Facing trials is, in my opinion, just another masked blessing.
