I get in that situation all the time now since I picked up the ball again. When I was younger my runner from that position always scored, I actually favored that over a layup, because it worked great for me. But when I started playing again I had lost the technique for that shot. Thanks for making me a better player, I used that drill in a little different form and it helped me to get back an important part of my game. Thank you!
i dont want to sound stupid but why do you land in the same position? is it a floater if you jump forward and shoot the ball? is the runner different to a floater?
We do not like the term floater, because it implies floating forward. Land in the same spot to prevent floating forward which leads to your shot missing long. Floating forward brings you closer to a help defender who can block your shot or draw a charge on you.
@chippyjordinson my favorite shot in the game! I am a smaller guy and definitely helps me get the shot up when I bet my man, and the help defense is a much bigger man. My trick is lift your knees up a little bit if the guy is big to create a little bit space, also often times if you hang in the air just a split second longer you can get a foul call.
I'm a shooting guard and when i'm on the fastbreak, I'm on the wing and i do a runner, and it ends up being so powerful It goes over the basket
