I really hate people who write stuff like the top comment above... Just because she is young and Asian, you write.."Oh girl you're so good but try to do this and you will be better, good luck". Yeah why not write that @$#% on zimmerman's videos? She is better than you, she knows better than you. Stop trying to belittle her with your biased "suggestions" on how she could be better.
Only a hateful, butt hurt, loser could dislike this video. She was 12 and already showed such deep musicality. She had a few little booboos but her technical prowess is obviously freakish for a child and increasing at a ridiculous rate.
@lambammm It's all opinionated. Some peopel think it's great that a child can do this and others think that its bad for parents to be pushing all this upon a little child. Psychologically speaking, if the child was forced to play piano by the parents, it causes mental instability which is usually the case in very young kids playing these amazing pieces.
@Xemptuous Nonsense! The "mental instability" is yours, by all means take your meds before you make such an inane comment.
One must willfully refuse to hear the wonderful pianism in this performance, indeed in Miss Poon, a huge talent. There are hundreds of concert pianists who do not even approach her musicality and sensitivity to the Ballade No.1!
@tifflizzychen - In the original deleted comment you sent to me, you spelled Rubinstein incorrectly as well. You used the "e" as well.
By the way, you should have included a period AFTER you said "oops forget my previous comment". This is a separate thought from the second part of the insult. That said "you can't even spell Rubinstein." You COULD include a semicolon BETWEEN the two separate thoughts to show these ARE related. Plus, you should start the sentence with a capital "o" in oops.
This is the best version I've heard and can remember. It's sad she is so young yet interprets this better than Zimmerman, Horowitz, Rubenstein and Murray here. There is very little in her interpretation I disagree with.
@cariansee Goodness no! I'm certainly no prodigy! My technique isn't half as good as Tiffany's. I do play with my eyes closed and I try to play as expressively as possible. You can find my performance videos on YouTube.
you play this very technically advanced for your age, however there is always room for improvement. there are sections where more emotional luminosity and time is needed to attain bright and vivid hues and those colors that chopin wrote into this music.
A very good musicality and sensibility. This young woman will make her way. Its time to prepare the chopin competition.... with Chopin etudes, concerto and some Mazurkas. Good luck....
@TheF1PinkVoltaDream Martha Argerich felt that way. She often wonders what her life would have been like if she had not dedicated the entirety of it to her art.
keep going! dear tiffany, Aweful! you 'll get your own interpretation soon. Must think of your 50ies. Keep goning. Concert pianist is like a marathonner.
I am learning this piece!! I can play the 1st page then I skip the part that is sixteenth notes (still learning it!) and then a half page after that! I hope to able to play it like that, in 4-6 months!
One of those rare cases where I think there is a definite gift gift involved... not to detract from your many many hours of hard work, of course ;)
Simply stunning. I like this interpretation better than most I have heard from world-renowned pianists. I look forward to hearing more about you in future!
2:57 - I was in the middle of rolling a cigarette, and just stopped what I was doing and was like 0_0 This girl is wonderfully gifted.. keep an eye on this one.
You are a wonderful interpreter, Tiffany and you give life to this very dramatic Ballade. Only one small remark: you use mostly your forearm to give power to your playing. A little more weight of your arms and shoulders would give you a better sonority in all the "forte" passages. What do you think?
She's only 12. Weight will normally come for the "forte" passages. She's already an exceptional interpret with an extraordinary sensibility. Absolutely to be followed!

theres a big reason why kids shouldnt play this kind of music. They are unable to understand the music.

@chobeethaninov do used to play as good as her at the same age?
Look at the way she play with total emotion sometime without looking at the keysboard or closed eyes.
