Diana wasn't afraid to stretch. Who today displays such versatility? Not that I think she's the only entertainer who is so versatile. . . but who else has stepped up and shown their stuff so broadly and boldy as Miss Ross?
Jeez, what a BEAUTY this woman is! A pretty radical performance for 1960s American TV. Good for her! There is no doubt Diana had charisma and star quality by the shed load - Berry Gordy knew a class act when he saw one!
Never saw this before!!! SHE DID A FANTASTIC JOB!!!! This clip to me prove that she would've done a great job playing Josephine Baker in a production. She could've done all of her moves and she certainly had the looks and charisma for it.
I'm sorry. NO ONE Even ms. Taylor (elizabeth), herself took pictures like her.
THERE Are professional MODELS, less photogenic. As for the "Dancing" though I don't know What to call it...
I'll just say that I don't agree with the rest of you. But if she was truly the first to bring African dance to TV More power to her. I wasn't there to know for sure, but even though it Really wasn't the Best I don't know if I could've done it. Do your thing either way.
It's very difficult to make this kind of dancing look graceful. Kudos to Diana for going full out with the isolations and leaps. She was not a trained dancer so this was a stretch for her. Also kudos for doing something that a lot of people had not seen on TV at this time in history. For a major star to bring African dance to a TV audience was a big deal back then.
This is fierce! I wish i can do the same! You go girl!

Look at Diana move and gyrate. It must have took hours to memorize and rehearse those moves.

diana was so multi talented, far more than the one dimensional singers that came after her.
