  • Hey Nick - so glad to find the piece you did on Lee for the Centennial!! Lee took Betty to Idaho in 2010 - where I joined them. I'm sorry Betty's family wouldn't cooperate with you - because Betty's experience in Pearl Harbor, with Amelia Earhart and flying fighters in WWII is owned by a very small group of women. I'm happy this got done! The WAFS seem to get excluded - they were the first women of 28 - so the true number of WASP is 1,102.

  • "25,000 applied, 1,800 were accepted and 1,000 graduated". They had standards in those days. It was tough, but it was better than what we have now, in my opinion.
