I was lucky enough to meet her before a concert in the mid 80's. Having only seen pictures of her, I was suprized and amazed at just how incredibly tiny the is, that that incredible and powerful voice is coming ftrom someone not quite 5 feet tall, 4'113/4 inches to be exact.

fuckin ignorant, who are the real americans? a mixture of races, from English, italians chinese irish and many more and yes among these MEXICANS and Black people, i wonder where do you came from son of a thousand fathers
@asmeher LOL! Son of a thousand fathers, I'll have to remember that one. True dat, I'm a real American and mixed with Native American, Irish, French, English, African American, German....
I'm 14 and I know that all the female singers today are popular because they're drunken whores and they have (fake) boobs, not because they actually have any talent! What happened??
I just wanna know how the hell we went from women like Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, and Lita Ford to girls (not women, girls) like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Justin Beiber?
She's just kick ass! She didn't need American Idol to be where she at. All the women recording artist of 70's 80's did it on their own...We need MTV back on T.V. like it was in the late 80's 90's. Best music format spread. Back to back real music.
Pat is the real deal folks. no voice 'effects', no studio OVER dubbing like MANY today's 'fake' bs singers who are marketed purely on appearance and dancing ability, etc. and not vocal talent. I think we can all agree that most of today's chart toppers are all bubble gum. By the way...Pat can still sing today as she did back then. I saw her live a year ago and was amazed! Such powerful vocals! ROCK ON PAT!!!
it's a bit sad that in over 30 years the top female rockers remain the same... no one lives up to their great legacy. after patti smith, debbie harry, joan jett, siouxsie and obviously pat, what happened? very little, IMO.
why do we compare Gaga and biever and this and that. here is one for ya.selena quintanilla perez, and pat benatar kills and destroys todays music. i mean todays music is using auto tune. and here is another thing. why are we talking about michael Jackson. i mean i like MJ. But let's face it. he was a entertainment only. voice wise was horrible. so do not compare 80's or 90's to todays music because anyone with a brain knows todays music stinks! give me girls and guys who can sing.
One of the best female rock voices ever.....I'm including Grace Slick and Amy Lee on that short list as well. Lizzy Hale may be the best new artist...we will just have to wait and see on that one.
I keep on commenting and appraising. Just fantastic. Live. No audio tampering. Current artists - female or male - there are few who could match the energy, talent and skill.
@ranzelrob correct and right on every score. what the f*ck happened after the 80's finished? ill tell you what happened! sh*t happened for 20 years!. pat was great though wasnt she?
I've seen live most of the Female 70 & 80's Icons; Stevie Nicks, Linda Ronstadt, Pat Benatar, and Ann Wilson. All unique in their styles, however Ms Benatar has that background in opera and as you can hear she was the greatest with those high notes. My new girl has some work to do with her high notes. However give Allison a few years (she's only 18) and I predict she will lead a Rock 'N Roll revival!!!!!!!.
Is this from "Don Kirschner's Rock Concert?" Seeing her on that show was my introduction to her and I was pretty impressed. Only owned one of her albums, and the one I still consdier her best: In the Heat of the Night
@MRGXX64 EVERYTHING from 70's 80's was great. I cant think of one song that was bad, 1. you can understand the lyrics and they make sense. 2. they actually had talent. 3. THEY'VE LASTED MORE THAN 2 WEEKS!
P.S. i would like to add another rocker that i think you forgot to mention (Lita Ford)
Back then, in the 70's and 80's, you had women that could ROCK and had true talent, like Pat Benatar, Ann and Nancy Wilson, Stevie Nicks, Chrissy Hynde, Joan Jett, Deborah Harry and several more. Not like the women in music today that are pole-dancing whores, with little singing talent.
Damn right. Pat Benatar is the best. THANKS for not mentioning that tone-deaf media whore with rhythm deficiency anemia. Any of the women you listed could flatten the latest bimbo brigade like a tank.
@guyluvsbeauty Dude, they had whores in the pop industry then too. And we have girls who can rock now, though, admittedly, I'm usually not into their bands. Sick of older people FANTASIZING!
@RicochetKing2113 Kid, your 22, or at least that's what your profile states. Don't even try to compare the female talent, or lack there of, in today's music industry to the greats from the other era's! If you think the female singers of today can really rock and compare to the true female rock artists of the 70's and 80's, then you need to brush up on what true talent really is and I feel bad for you, to not know the difference.
@guyluvsbeauty Another one who lives in the past. Hello! There's music after the 80's! Believe it or not, there're a lot of female singers of today that can really rock. The problem is that you probably only know Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus and you think there's nothing more. Because you live in the past. I feel bad for you.
@15Antichrist15 sorry my english but your favorites tell me you are another who lives in the past , if you really loves the today music at least you have a favorite video of good today`s music i think, good today`s singers are very few in compares to 80's
It's sad I can't tell my pals that I like this chic! A good friend of mine said he heard I went to see " some old lady". Wow! She must be like some little ball of energy! No normal person would have it in them to be jumpin' up and down and dancing around before they begin to belt out a huge song!!
Pat Benatar and Heartbreaker; this is one of the most deleted videos on Youtube. I get the feeling women feel jilted, and remove the "Heartbreaker." Actually nothing happened to Pat Benatar, but her song; being rock & roll and all that: Heartbreaker, dream-maker.
What's the name of the song where theres a chick saying " Come on girls and boys, were gonna go wild wild wild or something liek that, sorry for my crappy English
I like them both, but I think Pat is much more talented overall and her music career was much more successful overall. It lasted long. She had more hits. Sold more records and was much more viverse musically. She rocked, but also did more New Wave etc. Joan was always stuck in one format and even then only had a few real good songs.
both are still good, but you do have some valid points there, at least you aren't like some of the trollers out their who bash another artist who they don't think is good enough.
Pat is the best vocalist of the two... both play a huge part in the movement of women in rock but you cant compare apples and oranges...lol now I think a harder question would be who is a better vocalist Pat Benetar or Ann wilson of Heart.... Joan rocks dont get me wrong but if we are going vocal to vocal its Pat hands down.
I just saw her in concert with Blondie. She is STILL amazing at 56 - her voice is incredible and she and her band give a great show. A true rocker chick!

Whos better Pat Benatar or Joan Jett?
I think both of them are great but who is better?
Nathan920 2 years ago
I think they are both tough, rockin women who are on an equal level!! :)
tall32guy 2 years ago 2
Yes, their level of rockin roll combined together melted my brothers face once, and it permanently scarred mine.
lol
They are both good
Nathan920 2 years ago
i say pat.

I like them both, but I think Pat is much more talented overall and her music career was much more successful overall. It lasted long. She had more hits. Sold more records and was much more viverse musically. She rocked, but also did more New Wave etc. Joan was always stuck in one format and even then only had a few real good songs.
CultureCrash9 2 years ago 5
both are still good, but you do have some valid points there, at least you aren't like some of the trollers out their who bash another artist who they don't think is good enough.
Nathan920 2 years ago
It is really hard to compete with a mezzo soprano. Just about impossible to meet that voice. Pat is so talented.
ruderocker 2 years ago 4
wow.. Pat or Joan..
StephAMPERSAND 2 years ago 2
ann hands down
tnhl77 2 years ago 2
@StephAMPERSAND - Pat and Ann are in a class of their own. Two true rockers!

I love this song! It's way better than 'Hit me with your best shot'! That song is a little overplayed!

I just saw her in concert with Blondie. She is STILL amazing at 56 - her voice is incredible and she and her band give a great show. A true rocker chick!
