Can you tell me if this movie plays on American DVD players? Last Japanese DVD I got that wasn't Viz didn't work on my DVD player and I was wanting it so long I ripped my door in half XD Well, my door was alreadly messed up badly and made of plywood, but you know ^^ Does it work on American DVD players?

@KatashiaFantasy101 When you buy japanese dvds online you have to make sure they specify that it plays in your region. US and Canada is region 1. If you see a dvd online and they don't say that I wouldn't get it. I've gotten plenty of dvds that play region 1. Also it would be good to make sure they accept refunds in case it was coded wrong so you can get your money back.

If I am not mistaken, the date refers to Japanese Buddhist special day called obon, which is basically the day to honor your dead relatives, go visit their graves etc., but also a day of festivities, Japanese traditional fair and so on. It is believed (if I remember correctly) that during obon, souls return to visit their relatives and see how they fare, and at the end of obon, lanterns float down a river to guide them back.
