  • I love how people are saying she's no good here. :-) She's an excellent gymnast and A LOT better than stupid Yang Bo. At least she can win a medal at a major competetion and not completely break down!!

  • @EdGringo78 Let's not get carried away and insult Yang Bo. She may not have medaled in major comps, but she is a true artist in every sense of the word. Lu Li is beautiful, too.

  • @EdGringo78 You must be blind to say Yang Bo is stupid! Anyway Lu Li is great too!

  • @rsageeth Lu Li IS great :-) Yang Bo, in my opinion, is one of the 3 most overrated gymnasts of all time. The other two being Dominique Moceanu and Alexandra Marinescu. Yang only had one good event that only ever hit a handful of times. She almost always choked at every big meet she's ever entered. She is NOT great. She had the potential to be really great, but always choked when it counted.

  • @EdGringo78 for someone who is so good at saying Yang Bo is 'NOT great', 'Choked' at big meets and 'stupid', i'd like to see you do what she did BETTER....

  • @rsageeth I've never claimed to be able to do anything that she, or any other gymnast, can do better. I'm speaking solely as a gymnastics fan of almost 25 years. It gets old reading about how "great" Yang Bo is. She's NOT great. Great gymnasts win medals and are more consistant at hitting routines at big meets. Neither of which Yang Bo does.

  • she was just coaching at my gymnastics and she is still really good she is a amazing gymanst so dont be dissing on her okay............

  • This routine didnt deserve over 9.9 She deserved 9.887 on this at the most

  • Interesting fact: She scored the LOWEST in the AA on the beam and came back in EF to win a silver medal, impressive!

  • Lol I love how every one is being all mean to her, and saying she's not good when she's a coach at my gym and were the best in region and we had 10 girls go to nationals last season. Shut up.

  • @voldemortsnipple97 They're just haters who cant handle an american not winning, and it sounds like shes working with american gymnasts now anyway! Ignore the idiots my dear...

  • Why was every gymnast so perfect back then and not today? *sigh*

  • I like Captain Obvious in the beginning: "The key here is to stay on the beam." No, really? Never would have guessed that.

  • @MiniYoda22 hahahhahaha! i agree! stupid julianne macnamara.

  • She had a flip flop to two layouts, a flip flop to one layout, a tucked korbut flip and an original mount. Where does this no difficulty come in? Sure she didn't have as much difficulty as miller or lysenko but the routine was near flawless.

  • What seems ironic is that they are actually PRAISING her technique. I mean any other broadcast station would just simple point out how Horrible her routine is nowadays

  • Every one stop being rude to her!!! She is my coach now and she is really sweet and I GREAT gymnast better than any of you could ever be!

  • @USAGymnast why do you think she should have won? She had nowhere near the difficulty of Lysenko, Miller, Boginskaya, and Bontas, and all those except Bontas had very good execution too. I think she should have been lucky to even get bronze, I cant believe she won silver.

  • Lu Li deserved her 10 and gold on bars but no way should she have won any medal here.

  • Wow I love her layouts so precise but at the same time so natural and fluid looking, just like Yang Bo's.

  • She's a coach at my gym.

I love her. She's so nice, and a really good coach. :)

  • well, we all know that if yang bo ever performed without any errors she would have won just from her form alone. god yang bo is such a beautiful gymnast, great flexibility, power. if only she performed the same routine in 89 and hit, yang would have had the most difficult routine.

  • she was my coach.she left 5 months ago

:( i miss her and kim

  • Excellent : a great routine and great gymnast, cool for the 2nd position .

  • a great routine and great gymnast.. I know there is a lot of discussion about where she should have placed.. with this old COP, if a routine was out of a 10 [as this one was] the judges had to judge it on execution alone.. and she obviously had great execution!

  • am i wrong or was her difficulty not as high as shannon's? i thought shannons was more difficult and both had close to no errors.

  • I do think Shannon had more, what with 3 layouts and a full in dismount.. comparatively, I'd agree that Shannon had more....but in the COP, both started out of a 10

  • well all three of the girls were amazing. i wish they could have done a 3-way tie for gold. =)

  • thats my gymnastics coach right now!!!! im not lieing!

  • wat gym do u go to?

  • i don´t think we can really know how to make scores at that time!!!! Nothing is now like it was in the past!!! The deduction and difficulty is different from now!!!!

She did her job well and shannon also so they tied, because to them it seems to be fair for many others it doesn´t seem fair and it doesn´t help to say she deserves bronze!!!

WE CANNOT CHANGE WHAT HAPPEN IN THE PAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Are you stupid? You make ridiculous comments on dozens of gymnastics videos when you don't know what the heck you're talking about. Lu Li got silver on this routine, tying with Shannon Miller with a score of 9.912.

  • it might be true if you're apply the current cop to her routine, but it was the era of artistry and beauty. that's why we have the current COP for someone who looks at difficulty to differentiate the gymnasts. not that either one of them is bad i think. it's just subjective. the 90s was actually the starting point of the crash down to the old COP since "we" demand to see more and more difficulty tricks.

  • Whatever Lu does is clean - but in this case, Shannon and Tatiana were clean and had more difficulty so I think it should have been:

    1. Tatiana (9.975)

    2. Shannon (9.925)

    3. Lu (9.912)

  • I agree but too me it seems like Tatiana and Shannon should have tied for gold. Shannon had incredible difficulty, but Tatiana had a cleaner performance. Like in the all around Shannon had a cleaner performance but Tatiana had more difficulty, it seems to me thats how it should have been here.

  • Shannon's dismount wasn't stuck cold, maybe that incurred a deduction.

Shannon was undoubtedly cleaner in the AA though.

I think the judges were overwhelmed with the crispness Tatiana presented.

  • It should be a bronze

  • I agree. Lu li is great - shes tidy and has great amplitude but she didnt have the difficulty and she made two errors. That break in her leap series should have been a bigger deduction

  • I like how she keeps her knees together on the double tuck dismount. I still don't see why so many gymnasts can't perform it like that? That skill has been around since the 70's when Mukhina did it? I'm not a gymnast, but can someone tell me, for example, in the last Olympics, how if a gymnast was trying to clean up their execution score, why wouldn't they concentrate on something like that - keeping their knees together on a tuck. Isn't that deduction if you don't?

  • Well, it is easier to rotate when cowboyed, that is why the chinese are the only gymnasts for the most part to have clean tucks.

  • What did she scored?

  • She actually scored a 9.912 and tied Shannon Miller for the silver

  • very clean routine

  • Really? How was this routine even as good, let alone slightly better then either Lysenko or Miller? No 4 element tumbling run, easy dismount, a bunch of straddle jumps. It was nice but there was nothing spectacular to it. I think she was lucky to tie for silver.

  • And the craziest thing about this routine is that the start value was also a 10, as was Shannon's and Tatiana's. Ridiculous, when you compare the difficulty of the latter two gymnast's routines to this, and yet they all have the same start value!!This is a good example of why the Code of Points needed to change, to give credit to the more difficult routines.

  • You are wrong. She was very good yes, but this routine has significantly less difficulty then both Lysenko and Miller. Her biggest moves are the swing down, and the two layouts. Compare that to Lysenko who had three layouts, front aerial, also the swing down, and a 3/4 backspin. Compare to Miller who had three layouts, a straight body layout, jump into back handspring quarter, full twisting double tuck dismount

  • IMO, this should have won bronze. Shannon Miller should have had the silver to herself.

  • Yes, I agree! I loved Lu Li and her beautiful form, but Shannon's beam routine was the best!

I must say that I'm very glad these three women (Lu, Miller, Lisenko) were the medalists on beam as I am a huge fan of all three!

  • I thought this routine was very nice, very well executed, but I also though it lacked the difficulty of the routines of Lysenko and Miller.

  • @todosobretodo Lu Li has wonderful form and execution but this routine has no difficulty at all compared to Lysenko and Miller and since they had also had good form and execution she should have been nowhere near them. Actually I am not sure if she even deserved a medal at all with how simple this routine was. Boginskaya or Bontas probably deserved the bronze. This routine just doesnt have nearly enough difficulty in it for event finals no matter how well it is done.

  • Lysenko was beautiful and deserved the gold

  • According to Gymn Forum, she scored a 9.912, tying with Shannon Miller for second. Tatina Lysenko won.

  • maybe she lacked a little difficulty. no full-in dismount, no rufalvas, no punch fronts... but great, still.

  • Beautiful!!

  • a bá é melhor que tu! =D
