  • i keep getting operation fail when i try to start a new project...why?

  • продам в москве MV 8000

  • quick easy to the point

  • Can you use one of the knobs or faders to change the pitch of the whole sample program (all the pads) at ones and while playing? I do this all the time on my mp, and it's crucial for my beat making process, in order to decide at what tempo the sample sounds the best or to make it fit a certain tempo. So I need to know if I can do this on the MV as well?

  • can i layer several samples on the same pad like the mpc 2500?

  • many complain about the complexities of the machine as opposed to machines like the MPC- but this video makes it look relatively simple - thanks for posting

  • tldnw

  • great intro. thanks!

  • Excuse me anyone, I need help with just loading an instrumental from my computer to my 8800 recording my vocals over saving it and transfering it right back to my computer, real new with this music recording stuff, can anyone please help!?!

  • man that's sweet. helps out a lot

  • does anyone know like something like this thats relatively cheap, because im lookin for a mpc type thing that i can sample on, but idk if im tryin spend like 2 g's?

  • korg

  • try ebay and check out the akai stuff or the roland sp-555, 404 etc.

  • mpc1000 is pretty good but if ur willin to spend 2g go for the 5000

  • get the 1000 and upgrade to the latest of JJ OS updates and get the 128 MB upgrade and the 16 pad upgrade and you will have a machine as powerful and as effective as the 2500....I wouldn't suggest gettin the 5000 yet until they come up with some better OS updates...it's known to crash right now and doesn't offer much more than the 1000 and 2500 other than ins and outs....if you need to burn your creations right to disc then get the 2500 with the cd burner upgrade....

  • NI Maschine. You will be impressed

  • dude try getting it second hand. I had some dude called dick cheney with an mv8800 rammed up his ass so thankfully after a bit of cleaning I got it for free. I wish you the same luck.

  • nice machine

  • @dazzelya: As for the ignorant thing, it's a simple fact as it's pretty obvious the guy doesn't know what he's talking about when he claims the MV-8k is 'the same' as the MV-8800. It's just not true, hence my comment on what he said. I respect the guy nonetheless and I definitely don't hate him for what he thinks he knows.

  • It sounds a whole lot more complicated than it really is. He's showing you the long way around but there are short cut like pressing shit plus this or that. I had a mpc 1000 and sold it and got the mv-8800. They are like night and day. The mv is a whole nother level!

  • Uum, the operating system does'nt seem like a lot of fun. It gave me a headache listening to all this! Anyone prfer this to the MPC series or vice cersa?

  • I feel what you're saying about the interface/operating system but once you actually sit down with it for a couple of hours it starts to 'make more sense'.

I too am used to the MPC and will always love it but i recently got to sit down with an MV for a couple days and I must say it's a beast and I'm now a fan. I'll always love the MPC though so I think its a matter of what you feel comfortable with and how you get down. The roland has everything in it already though; much less hassle w/ sounds

  • Yeah its all about the sounds for sure. If you need any email me for the Complete List, i have over 2000 sample cds and dvds titles in all formats for every hard ware or software sampler out there. Plus all the best virtual synths in AU, RTAS, VST and DXi format. Only the best stuff for mac and pc.

oh im at sharade27 @ gmail

  • You messed up on this tutorial mike. At 7:28you should have said choose chop, then auto chop because you can chop auto or mannually. You said choose auto chop twice, no biggie though I love my mv-8800.

  • He doesn't say Assign to Patch or Assign to Audio Phrase either, but he doesn't actually mess up on anything as it's totally clear what he means.

  • He does say assign to patch. Look at the video again my man. Also I'm not talking about things he left out I'm talking about what specifically said wrong.

  • Yeah, but that's my point as he did not really say anything specifically wrong. Also, it's a good thing to use your eyes too.. as all info is there and actually being shown. He doesn't say that you can choose 'assign to patch', instead he says 'patch' there. Only a few seconds later he says 'assign to patch', yes, but he didn't the first time even though he could.

  • By the way, 'wrong' would be when he said to go to the mixer for example to auto chop or something crazy like that. Not saying 'chop' where he said 'auto chop' really isn't wrong... especially since it's instantly clear that people shouldn't look for some other 'chop' there to get to auto chop, but instead enter 'chop' mode first.

  • I'm going to let this one go cause it's pointless...

  • I'm right, I know.

  • my child you must go beyond right and wrong and find your inner light.

  • That was 6 months ago, why did you even bother to bring it up? :P

It's all in the video though, just go check it out. I am already far beyond right and wrong, I am Buddha itself.

  • can you do the same with tha fantom g?

  • is there a multirack recorder so you can record rap vocals into the mv 8800

    plz reply

  • Yes.

  • im serious btw

  • can you send me one for free?

  • SavageSilencer : You can use any VGA computer monitor.LCD or CRT.

  • how often does roland come out wit a new version of the same machine... 1 years ?

    3 years, 5 years ?

  • If you wouldn't have been so ignorant about the differences between an MV-8000 and MV-8800 you definitely wouldn't have tried to be funny 8 months ago... The MV-8800 may not be an MV-9000 (or 'true' successor version-wise), but that doesn't mean it's not a very good machine easily making it EVEN better than the original 8k. It's really not 'the same' machine at all.

  • funny ? ... i asked a simple question you assho

  • Dude you said 'SAME' machine, so don't go all clown on me.

Also, if you really were serious, Roland is probably busy designing a 'MV-9900' as we speak, but I don't expect it to be released any time soon. Probably not before end 2009. Don't forget the 8800 is doing great at the moment and they also put a lot of effort in their flagship synths and so on. I think the SP series and MV series will get successors eventually, but not too soon. Basically Roland ain't Akai trying to milk their name. :)

  • i ask a lil question and you doubt me being "serious"... you thought i was being "funny".... OFCOURSE I WAS SERIOUS ! this thing isnt cheap.

    look, heres my story

i dont know anything bout these machines. i just wanted to make sure that when i buy one, the new and improved version doesnt come out right after i buy this one

  • Right, well my genuine apology then. No, don't worry, they usually won't release a new device within a couple of years. I think about every 5 years they release something new, but the MV only has two version at the moment, so only God knows how they will continue with this. I don't expect anything major within 2 years from now though.

  • can you connect most PC monitors to the mv 8000/8800 for a full screen?

  • Any monitor with standard VGA cable connection (or adapter) will do. I would even go a step further and claim that you will have a really difficult time finding a monitor that does NOT work. :)

  • It seems that way because he's being thorough. You can also just hit "import" button to load sounds and patches.

  • That looks like a lot of work just to select sounds etc... (Not using a monitor and mouse that is)

  • Looks are deceiving as loading an instrument and getting it in a midi track really is only about a button press or 3 away... If you know what you want to load already then it's a matter of seconds getting it done.. if you like to preview patches it will take a bit longer depending on how many you preview and how big the patches are, but there's really no need to complain about that part of the MV in my opinion.

  • A couple seconds per patch is why I don't like vsti's ;)

I want instant previews like any (keyboard) workstation will give me. The MV might be a great machine but it doesn't tickle my fancy.

Easy on the comments btw. Let people have there opinions.

  • I obviously meant loading all the instruments you want and previewing some or all of them along the way, that will in total take some seconds. It's fast enough in my opinion, you won't really be waiting for it. Also what do VSTIs got to do with loading patches? They are not entirely the same. Loading VSTis is near instant as well, as they are treated like instruments. As for my comments, it's free speech and I'm not even hating on nobody, so live with it man.

  • Obviously what I meant is when loading patches in vsti's itself. They are quite the same. If you select a different patch in a vsti like colossus it will take seconds per patch.

If calling people ignorant isn't hating on anybody then be my guest. I think otherwise

:) You seem to enjoy posting comments about the MV so go ahead. It looks quite time consuming to me.

  • Just to clear something up for you; VSTi stands for Virtual Studio Technology instrument, they are either instruments or effects of some sort. The programs are VSTi hosts, you don't load patches in a VSTi, VSTis are the patches.

Anyways, yeah I'm often pretty blunt and straight to the point as you've noticed, sorry, but I never really hate. Hating is so depressing and time consuming, I stay away from that ish. Also, posting here only takes me a split second.

  • Just to clear something up for you. I'm a professional recording engineer. I know what a VSTi is and what it stands for. When generally referred to VSTi's we talk about the host+it's (instrument)patches. Although a plug-in is the same as a VSTi. Plugin's are usually seen as the effects and processors. Reverbs, eq's, compressors etc.

Anyway, enjoy your MV and I'll stick to what I use and love.

No need to apologize. You'll learn :p

  • Are you frustrated or something? Grow up. Seriously.

For a professional recording engineer you sure get things mixed up a lot.

I guess they don't pay you a whole lot, right? :p

  • Frustrated? Not really. I'm not the one here with 10+ posts ;)

As a professional engineer I do MIX up a lot :p

    Very insightful.

Pay me? I pay myself quite generously. Don't worry ;)

Anyway, I'm out to work a bit more.

  • Lol, you're so full of it, it's a miracle that you didn't choke in your own arrogance yet. I'm pretty sure post count says zero, especially as it's a matter of seconds posting here. Also... how do you pay yourself... when you don't ever sell beats! LOL!!

  • And the hating begins :)

Still defending how long it takes to post huh?

How I pay myself when I 'don't ever sell beats' ? I don't sell beats. I sell productions. I decide what my hourly (engineering) rate is so I decide how much I get. ;) You were close to being funny but failed.

Anyway, I'm quite done talking to you -the anonymous twat- so I suggest you carry on with your life or at least pretend you have one.

    Good luck.

  • You obviously don't know the difference between a producer and a professional recording engineer either..... You are such a fool, totally pathetic.

I'm not defending my typing skills, I am aware they are inhuman. :)

  • Being both I'm quite aware of what they entitle ;) If you could read well you would've understood that the 'productions' comment and the 'hourly (engineering) rate comment were separate from one another. If you think a beat-maker is the same as a producer then you are the fool here.

This is how I make my living. Within a year my commercial (recording) studio will also be completed.

You wish you could do what I do and make a living. Not only am I an engineer. I'm a certified one too. I'm done :)

  • Lol, so now you are suddenly both? Continuing this discussion is pointless, you're making things up as you go. I never said anything about you being a 'beat-maker', I only mentioned that you probably do not sell beats.. in fact I know for a fact that I am right about that in your case,.. regardless of how you glorify your own by giving yourself fancy but stupid names because they do not apply to you.. you're still a liar.

  • It's hard to stop replying. Are you retarded? How can one 'suddenly' be something if it was ALREADY mentioned?

You are partially right. I don't sell beats (online) I do however sell production (beat + recording packages) besides being a freelance engineer.

You are free to think I'm lying or that I'm making up fancy names.

Me being a producer and professional engineer is a simple fact. It's how I make my living :)

    Enjoy your simple minded self.

    Adios

  • Right.. except you never mentioned anything 'before'. Anyways, less talk & more music.. if you really are what you say you are proving that is as easy as 1 2 3. Instead you rely on words, lies and confusion. Pretty weird for 'an industry professional', whahaha, laughing my ass off here.

  • Quick question..Does the mv 8800/8000 give those mpc's a run for their money?

  • how much is mv8800 in australian dollars

  • check out these hot tracks myspace(dot)com/elsewherebeats

  • check out these hot beats made the same way at myspace(dot)com/elsewherebeats

  • whats better MV-8000 or MV-8800? holla ASAP

  • mv 8800 it has a color screen and a vga expansion built in...

  • yeah biggdoggent i had da same question until i got them now let me break it down for u

definetly da mv8800 cuz number one da mv88 iz like da same thing witt a color screen and a bunch more sounds

  • Safe for that youngl098765. have you got a MV-8800?

  • the 8800 has fade in and fade out in the sample edit.

the EFX are based on the BOSS and SRX effects.

everything else is just buttons moved, more color and trival things youll never see.

oh I forgot to mention it come with a boat load of patches.

    (8000) make your own).

Cheaper to get a MV-8000 from NOVAMUSIK or ZZOUNDS

  • The only real 'advantage' the MV-8000 has over the MV-8800 is it's cheaper price... in all other areas it has been improved quite severely. Better/faster harddisk, more editing features (really useful stuff like the fade in/out, auto-zero crossing and so on), better menu structure, faster work flow and even more fun. Off course the color screen is nice, but there's a lot more improved under the surface!!! If you don't own a MV-8k already, I'd go for a new 8800 instead of saving money buying MV8k

  • i want to ask u , how much is it ?

  • 2 g man

  • your MOMMA!!!!

  • Amazing!

A brilliant step by step insight into this powerful machine!

cant wait to get one :)

  • i already have one!
