I visited the grave of the late, great Harry Kalas on July 26, 2010. A new granite tombstone has been placed there, shaped like a radio microphone placed on a home plate-shaped raised base.
On the center of the mike are the initials "HK", and on the base of the mike is a small replica of his autograph.
I wrote a poem about the 2008 Phillies called "Werth The Wait". The last few lines go like this: At the celebration on Halloween The fans' feelings were really keen When those famous words were uttered by Chase The fans screamed throughout the place Television stations scrambled News anchors then rambled When those live words sent them reeling As Utley showed how we all were feeling At that moment, there was many a fan Who recalled Harry's words, "Chase Utley, you...ARE...the...man!
For those who went out and bought those t-shirts with Utley's immortal words printed on them, unfortunately, you'll have to leave them home when you go to a Phillies game.
I e-mailed the Phils about a month ago and asked about their policy regarding those shirts.
They replied thanking me for asking in advance and added that they would refuse admission to anyone wearing such a shirt, as it is against their Ballpark Code of Conduct.

Today, April 13, 2009, is a very sad day in Philadelphia. :'(
The Phillies lost their voice today. Harry Kalas passed away at the age of 73.
We will miss you, Harry!
Harry and Whitey are together once again in Heaven's broadcasting booth. Too bad we can't get that station! ;-)
