It has more bottom end power than most 4 strokes that I have seen but as soon as I hit high rpms it stops pulling. And I don't know what carb I have but it's a pj and I have to run it with a 135 main and on the needle it's as lean as it can go. Srry it's an 86 bike

@thews21 No its a 38mm air stryker...What other mods do you have done to the bike? Is it a 85 or 86? Far as i remember when by bike was all stock i ran a 142 main and a 52 pilot.. needle was 3rd slot i think...But thats just what worked for me...Good luck :)

lol goldy just cuz it says 250 dont mean its not a mans bike those things would fly they are 2 stroke so they have twice the power of a 4 stroke because they fire twice per rev compared to 1 per rev on 4 stroke

It think you have the diffrence between stroke and revolution mixed up. a four stroke has at least two valves and the cycle is: 1, (piston down)sucks gas in 2, (up)compress gas+air mixture 3, (down)spark plug sparks and ignites the gas+air and 4, (up) lets exhaust out and restarts cycle. 2 strokes have 1 fire per rev: When the pistons on top the spark plug fires the gas+air, and going down, it lets exhaust out and gas+air in. :)

@Arian420247 Well i ride mine pretty hard in the dunes and im on almost 3 years on this topend..Still pushing around 190psi and not much smoke either..I run 1/2 pump 1/2 racing fuel @ 40-1 using klotz 2stroke oil.. And its just not top speed thats better.. 85/86s will outpull 81-84 250Rs in any gear.

Well the carb's on both are 34mm keihin But the 85 is a round slide and the 86 is a flat slide. Yes the 86 carb is better.. So 85250r = 38hp 86250r =39hp or there about :) The 86 ATC250r will outpull the 85 at topend but top speed is only about 3mph faster than the 85...The 86 tops out around 83mph.. STOCK

I got a few question, if you could answer that would be awesome:

What's their average top speed?

Do they do well in trails?

Are they strong? Like can you pull heavy weights with it? (Not too heavy but for exemple someone on a snow gt and still do well?)

I believe stock speed was just around 83 mines gear for low and mid range so id say i get up to around 70 on the beach not much faster then that....

They do real well in the trails but when you start dealing with dirtbike and quad ruts it can be a bitch..

And no i wouldn't be pulling much of anything with a 2stroke like a 250R.. They're just not build for that..Get a 350x if you wanna pull stuff... Hope this helps :)

well stock 60mph-80mph year depending because 86 is liquid cooled making it more efficient thus faster.

towing it could tow 400lb but its not geared or reallly desiened for that kind of torque like a 250 bigred or non sport models.

sport models show more shocks and are made more for sand and others are more farm oriented and mud and dirt type terrain. hope that helps.

What the heck is a powerband, isn't that just the range in the rpm's that it makes a lot of power. 250r's make almost no power until about 6-7 thousand RPM, I think that is what people refer to when they say power band.

My R is a very snappy 2stroke with a lite front end...I'd rather use my back breaks and save from scratcing my grabbar or rear fender...Plus im not wearing a helmet..And you can see things better then me when its me on the fucking bike LOL..I can ride wheelies in any gear at any speed uphill or down while shifting too....I think i know a little better how to handle my 250R that i built myself...Been riding these things since 82..HOW bout you post some of your wheelie vids man :)

my dad and i just went in halves on a set of 250 r's.. mines in pieces gettin rebuilt my engines in the shop gettin a full rebuild im thinking on getting it bored but im also thinking about rebuilding it back to mint stock condition... their fast as fuck without the bore they wer the exact same in pretty much the same condition and your rite.. their snappy little fuckers and you almoste hafto ride the brakes when your just dickin arond
