hmm, thats a good question, and im only speculating, but it could be that springs are cheaper, easier to replace, and provide adequate shock absorbtion for an unmanned vehicle, whereas with the older manned version, the pneumatics would have provided a much more comfortable ride at high speed, with the option of changing it it its too rough/soft etc rather than order new springs if its wrong. the springs also have less to go wrong with them.
To Howe and Howe, this is by far the coolest military vehicle ive seen. I can only imagine how many lives can be saved with this on the frontlines of afghanistan or any other war for that matter. I would give my left nut to have one of these covering my ass in afghanistan. I cant wait to see one of these on the battlefield. 101ABN INFANTRY
