Just imagine, this match lasted over twenty five minutes. It had numerous high spots, hot tags, two counts, and well timed rest holds.
Last night a twenty minute segement on RAW consisted of C.M.Punk, John Cena, HHH, and John Laurentias yapping, over acting, and wasting time. For a contract signing with no actual match involved. And this is what Vince thinks is high quality entertainment.
At 4:42: did Steamboat just get a face full of Kernodle's butt? In today's WWE, where the "stink face" is a legitimate finishing move, that would have been the end of the match. Woe is me: how sadly the times have changed, leaving quality wrestling among their casualties. The WWE "creative" department should watch and learn from these old tapes. After all, they paid enough to own them (though that was likely more for greed and to supress public access to good wrestling).
Great move by Slaughter at 2:30, n-ring intelligence & psychology is non-existent 2day. Funny how now that the business has been exposed (stupid Vince) u know what 2 look 4, back then, i'd never of known these guys were cutting themselves with razor blades like i do now LOL!
you could never get this kind of tag action headlining a card these days, much less the heat that this match got......Steamboat bleeding is rare.....Slaughter was an underrated athlete
@vogras And we just got one about a month ago. All these uneducated nostalgic youtube comments that pollute virtually every video of something older (wrestling, music, general society, etc.) are incredibly annoying.
Snuka was the first as that match with Backlund took place in 82 and this match was March of 83. Sarge was a great athlete and prob very underrated in the strength and stamina department.
I saw him bleed vs. Don "the Magnificent" Murroco in mid 80s WWF with Jesse and Gorilla doing commentary. I've seen him bleed other times too. But he was in no way a Flair, Rhoades, Abdullah or . . . well, you get the picture. But, Steamboat was a great wrestler, showman, scientific grappler. One of the best, in my opinion.

So...I guess Snuka wasn't the first to miss a leap off of the top of the cage. But I NEVER would've thought Sarge to do that!

It's rare that you see Steamboat bleed.

Wow..seeing your comment from a year ago on here is odd after conversing with you the other day. Obviously..I'm on a nostalgia kick. Love this stuff.

Flair v Valentine was actually the match just before this one,and it was one of the best matches I ever saw.
You know it had to be special when the Greensboro fans gave Greg Valentine a standing ovation for his efforts,as he was hardcore heel at the time.
(Both men got standing ovations, but it was rare indeed to see the heel being appreciated for his effort.)
That night,to me,was the best single night of pro wrestling action that I ahve ever seen, and have been a fan for over 30 years.
