My favourites are Happy Now, What Do You Want From Me, SOS and Flowerbed. Considering Pregressed though my favourites becomes Man and Love Love. And The Day The Work Is Done and Don't Say Goodbye. Ok, love them all really.
To me this album is beautiful. I've been a fan or as long as I can remember, and love their music as a 4 and as a 5. This album is wonderful, yes it's different, but I think in a hood way. My favourite album will always be Nobody Else though. :D
@MrDan2593 I too am in the same boat. 5 years your seinor. I dont agree with too many of the songs but a few are just catching. I blame the Synth....I am a sucker for Synth...check my Faves youll see.
Rob, by the way, reads these comments (!!) whenever he has a chance.. only he is not allowed to read the ones that pertain to him(!) according to Gaz... lol.....
The edgier sound would not have been possible without Rob's brilliant contributions (to Mark's and Howard's efforts as well) to bringing their music into sharper focus, garnering new fan support. We will see alot more individual contributions, I think, more beautiful singing from lesser heard voices such as Jason and Howard's.. It is a rebirth and an exciting time to be an English/Takethat fan...
It took Rob coming back to allow Gaz the courage to step out of his comfort zone and change with the times. They have produced an album that is relevant, edgy, fittingly "out there" to garner critical praise. This is really about "the English" and NOT about TakeThat with its safe pop ballads.. As Gaz said, he did not want to be pigeonholed anymore and saw Rob's return as an opportunity to change the sound of the band into a 2010 image..
The whole point about this album is that they DO sound different.. Remember they were going to reform and call themselves "the English" just because that way all the stupid public out there would stop expecting a TakeThat sound and maybe just maybe, understand that the band, reformed whole again, WAS going in a different direction musically (which they have done, brilliantly!!)
Perfection! Love TT, Robbie wellcome back! Me encanta el album, entre mis favoritos seguro! Flowerbed se sale...Jason tiene un gran potencial! Besitos from Spain!
are u stupid take that have gone so downhill wait kidz and pretty things are really crap songs and boring, robbie williams has ruined take thats music and progress is really not there best album ever whereas westlife are miles better and have a much better album all the songs are amazing
anything these lads do is great with me ,particulaly like no8 (what do you want from me) and love robbies voice on "pretty things" 5 stars and i cant wait for the concert!!!!
@4uStarlight So many people care, that´s why they had the best selling tour and album, before Robbie rejoined them, I love Robbie but I like them all. Cheers.
You people may like this album. I have no idea why...really I don't. This one doesn't hold a candle to the CIrcus and Beautiful World. Not even remotely close. Those are albums that will stand the test of time. Progress is a bunch of techno jingles that will fade into the twilight and be forgotten. They mosltly have no feeling. It sounds like a Robbie WIlliams album. If this is what thy were going for then, well, congrats.
@theeteey Gee, im sorry. I missed where it states this is for positive comments only, This album sucks and you're just going to have to get over other people's opinions. And get over yourself.
I prefer Robbie as a solo artist too. I am a BIG Robbie`s fan and thats why i bought the Progress album. I wasn`t Take That fan but now when Robbie is part of that i have to be Take That fan too :)
But over the last 20years i have always known that Gary is brilliant singer and he has very very good voice.
Whilst I welcome Take That evolving (I was concerned that they would just release a 'The Circus 2') The Flood, the closest to their older works, is by far the most superior song. However, both Kidz and SOS would make great singles and I cannot wait for the tour.
1. "The Flood" Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow 2. "SOS" Mark Owen and Robbie Williams 3. "Wait" Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow 4. "Kidz" Mark Owen and Gary Barlow 5. "Pretty Things" Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow 6. "Happy Now" Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams 7. "Underground Machine" Robbie Williams 8. "What Do You Want from Me?" Mark Owen 9. "Affirmation" Howard Donald 10. "Eight Letters" Gary Barlow 11. "Flowerbed" Jason Orange From wiki, yay everyone got atleast 1 song :) :) :)

I guess it is the best album Robbie has done(or get involved in,however you wanna take it) in his life, and the same for Take That as a band, they are mature....and Iike it.
wow...most of these songs are amazing!! :D like its rare for me to like songs from first listen but im really liking the sounds...and im not disappointed with the amount of Mark Owen Vocals....YAY!!!
LOVE the new album, I have never heard anything like pretty things, love the song, sounds like an electro lullaby and the voices of Gary and Robbie sound very sexy!!!
I'm trying to listen to it a few times and maybe the songs will grow on me. But where's Gary? Why is he the lead on only 1 song and Robbie has.. 6? Yes the band would have decided to go in this direction - but why all the songs are so electro and sound just like Rudebox, is it a huge coincidence they decided to go this way when Robbie joined? I mean I LOVE Take That heaps, and hope everything goes well for them - just wish they had more of a balance on the new and old sound, of Gary and Robbie
they said in an interview that they went for a different sound on this album, because they had to include the style of music robbie had been doing as a solo artist, and try to twist it into take that's usual style. personally,i think its MUCH better.
it's ....different.. have to get to used to this, I think.... it's a progression allright, I think the songs jumping out are; wait ;pretty things; and Mark with What do you want from me.. and no this doesn't go over his rough year(!) and jason on 'flowerbed'
they are growing though
it 's a total different sound, of what we were used to, but it does explane why they were thinking about changing there name to "The English". that did it for Gazz, to think away from the sound were used to..

@Olie23231 Robbie does slightly dominate! he is a lead vocalist on 6 of the 11 songs!but that is the same as garry i supose. Id have liked to have herd more of marks voice really. but no denying its a fantastic album!
the album is growing in me little by little.... yes it's different from everything in the past, not better but some of the lyrics are awesome, actually is a cool "progress" since most of the songs in the past talked mostly about love, though i'm not complaining, but i think experimenting in music is great, you can't stick to one style, this just shows me Take That can sing a phone book and make it a hit, this is what i like about take that, they are not predictable and not boring at all
Not sure why people are saying its alot more mature? 'Greatest day' , 'Patience'....amazing! This album has one good song 'The Flood'....the rest is piss-poor compared to the past!
There arent really any stand out or iconic songs here in my opinion, none that you'll remember in a few years anyway apart from The Flood. The Circus album and tour (wembley 09 baby) were amazing and I think they'll fall well short of the plaudits they got for that even with robbie back!
Progress is definitely the best album since they reformed. I was worried that we'd get nothing but "easy listening" ballads forever, but this new album fills me with hope that we'll hear some great hits from them for years to come!
This album it's a bit strange in my opinion, i used to like the ballad songs, the old ones. The one thing that i though when i listened it was: where's Gary here? and when i got to the last one song i've finally found him. But come on, he's the frontman of this boyband, so just one song for him? One only?
But anyway, i do love them, and i do think that it is good, but not one of my favourite ones.
@SuperSmasher1 Yes i know, but they will also play their old songs like back for good and also robbie will sing some of his greatest hits. It will be a mixure like at the Circus tour.
I´m a little bit disappointed. This album isn`t really Take That, it`s soo strange. If you think back to their last albums, you will understand what i mean. There are no "good feeling songs" on their new album. I hope they will not play too many new songs on their tour next year. Anyhow i love them.:)
@Annette2210 I don't understand how people always want the same over and over again. The guys are entiteld to evolve (progress), try new things! Like that they become a bit more edgy!
Tbh one thing that really bugs me about this is WHY would they put a danc backing track to What Do You Want From Me!?!?!? Would be such a beautiful ballad ): (oh and that Robbie's on it ¬_¬) Other than that it's pretty good, prefer The Circus but still can't wait for the tour xD Bring on July 9th xD <3
sounds like a successful move to me. robbie's return is definitely good for take that as a band because 1. they finally have enough guts to get away from the love ballad thing for a while; 2. mark can finally have a duet w/ robbie; 3. many dance music in this album so they're definitely going to dance their lungs out in the coming tour; 4. this album is not perfect yet so they'll make a better one next time!!!!
I've not heard the album in full, just bits and pieces here and there, but it certainly sounds like a brave departure from Beautiful World and The Circus.
It's disappointing that Robbie dominates the lead vocals on so many tracks, as the original idea behind the comeback was that they all shared the limelight this time, but it's still Captain Barlow steering the ship.
Christ some people can be biased. People saying that robbie "dominates" on the album need to get there heads out there arses. On just how many of these tracks does he "dominate"? and make the others back up singers? Also gary is the sound man, it sounds the way it does because he's changed it, not robbie. Its time people started thinking that groups can change however they want without your personal pathetic say so. Its a good album, i like the techno feel, Its good because its different.
Omg! Whats happened? Is this take that or Robbie Williams? It sounds like a shite techo 80's tribute band! How can anyone say this is the greatest album? Robbie has ruined take that! GET HIM OUT!
VERY different sound ( kinda RudeBox/Reality Killed the Videostar)...think it will take some getting used to for me but the lyrical material sounds good. I LOVE the Flood and SOS and Eight Letters sound pretty good!
I do not hear the full album yet only this preview but I have to say that I'm a little bit disappointed. I was expecting more... maybe it will be better when I hear the full songs.. but I'm not quite sure if I want to buy this album, the only good thing is that robbie sings a lot of parts.
Hurr I'm a Take That fangirl and I let this album dictate a large portion of my life and simply have to express my innermost feelings towards it, rather than taking it and enjoying it as it should be done, and like the ENTIRE BAND want to happen. I seriously wonder about some of you people sometimes- I'm a 19 year old male, and I happen to enjoy both Robbie and Take That, but I don't let it take a huge chunk of my feelings, like you mindless zombies.
@mulderandscully Fair enough - I guess it's just my opinion then. I don't really like it as much as their previous material but that's not to say that it isn't any good - they will be just as successful if not more successful now - just look at their tour sales for next year! But I just don't think it works really. Just my opinion.
@mulderandscully Bad (In English, gash is slang for a womans private parts, haha) - Nothing like what is expected from a Take That album, the only song that wouldnt look out of place on another album is Eight Letters.
Dominated by Williams, which is a bad thing. Sounds like his Rudebox album that flopped a few years back.
Hopefully its a grower, but to me it's just like a new Robbie Williams album with Take That as his backup singers.
@dillonefc You're definitely entitled to your opinion. But I think this album is great. Robbie really delivers on the tracks he takes part in. Some of the album's greatest songs, e.g. Eight letters and the Flood, Robbie was the one who wrote them. I am sorry but do you really think Rudebox flopped? It was No.1 in 14 countries. If this is failure, I don't know what success is.
Don't like it. Bring back Take That as a 4-piece again! That's when they were great. Now there's nothing original about them anymore - it just sounds like all the other rubbish you hear in the charts these days. And there's way to much of Mr Williams in this album. Go back to your solo career Robbie! Take That were better without you!
@mosel14 I just heard someone from the NME saying the exact opposite of what you've just said. He loved it. He said it wasn't the usual safe, boring X-Factor type stuff TT as a four piece would put out, it's different, it's energised. it's not the Robbie Williams show, it's all shared out - and he never thought he'd be sat there saying positive things about a new Take That album, as he IS from the NME.
My favourites are Happy Now, What Do You Want From Me, SOS and Flowerbed. Considering Pregressed though my favourites becomes Man and Love Love. And The Day The Work Is Done and Don't Say Goodbye. Ok, love them all really.

I mean I LOVE Take That heaps, and hope everything goes well for them - just wish they had more of a balance on the new and old sound, of Gary and Robbie
orlybabe 1 year ago
they said in an interview that they went for a different sound on this album, because they had to include the style of music robbie had been doing as a solo artist, and try to twist it into take that's usual style. personally,i think its MUCH better.

it's ....different.. have to get to used to this, I think.... it's a progression allright, I think the songs jumping out are; wait ;pretty things; and Mark with What do you want from me.. and no this doesn't go over his rough year(!) and jason on 'flowerbed'
they are growing though
it 's a total different sound, of what we were used to, but it does explane why they were thinking about changing there name to "The English". that did it for Gazz, to think away from the sound were used to..

@Olie23231 Robbie does slightly dominate! he is a lead vocalist on 6 of the 11 songs!but that is the same as garry i supose. Id have liked to have herd more of marks voice really. but no denying its a fantastic album!

Great New Sound !
MrJoker188 1 year ago
the album is growing in me little by little.... yes it's different from everything in the past, not better but some of the lyrics are awesome, actually is a cool "progress" since most of the songs in the past talked mostly about love, though i'm not complaining, but i think experimenting in music is great, you can't stick to one style, this just shows me Take That can sing a phone book and make it a hit, this is what i like about take that, they are not predictable and not boring at all

i like the flood, sos and affirmation
OTHsmallvillefan 1 year ago
i dont like their new style, i prefered their ballad style albums and songs like rule the world, greatest day and even patience etc
OTHsmallvillefan 1 year ago 3
Not sure why people are saying its alot more mature? 'Greatest day' , 'Patience'....amazing! This album has one good song 'The Flood'....the rest is piss-poor compared to the past!
GrazaShaw 1 year ago
This album is ACE! It's on my must-buy list!
I really like the new sound of Take That...much more intense and mature than all their previous albums combined.
bleep77 1 year ago
There arent really any stand out or iconic songs here in my opinion, none that you'll remember in a few years anyway apart from The Flood. The Circus album and tour (wembley 09 baby) were amazing and I think they'll fall well short of the plaudits they got for that even with robbie back!
dexkeldex 1 year ago
Progress is definitely the best album since they reformed. I was worried that we'd get nothing but "easy listening" ballads forever, but this new album fills me with hope that we'll hear some great hits from them for years to come!
susan4798 1 year ago
This album it's a bit strange in my opinion, i used to like the ballad songs, the old ones. The one thing that i though when i listened it was: where's Gary here? and when i got to the last one song i've finally found him. But come on, he's the frontman of this boyband, so just one song for him? One only?
But anyway, i do love them, and i do think that it is good, but not one of my favourite ones.

Take That have changed! :') they are half pop and half what they used to be!
Just like McFly!
funkyhollzxox 1 year ago
@SuperSmasher1 Yes i know, but they will also play their old songs like back for good and also robbie will sing some of his greatest hits. It will be a mixure like at the Circus tour.
Annette2210 1 year ago
I´m a little bit disappointed. This album isn`t really Take That, it`s soo strange. If you think back to their last albums, you will understand what i mean. There are no "good feeling songs" on their new album. I hope they will not play too many new songs on their tour next year. Anyhow i love them.:)
Annette2210 1 year ago 2
@Annette2210 I don't understand how people always want the same over and over again. The guys are entiteld to evolve (progress), try new things! Like that they become a bit more edgy!
TheRakete10 1 year ago 29

Disappointed at new album. Not as good as previous ones. Too dominated by Robbie and it shows. About four songs that are any good.
JayFal68 1 year ago
I've not heard the album in full, just bits and pieces here and there, but it certainly sounds like a brave departure from Beautiful World and The Circus.
It's disappointing that Robbie dominates the lead vocals on so many tracks, as the original idea behind the comeback was that they all shared the limelight this time, but it's still Captain Barlow steering the ship.
iampaulrus 1 year ago 2

AnonGuitars 1 year ago
@mulderandscully Fair enough - I guess it's just my opinion then. I don't really like it as much as their previous material but that's not to say that it isn't any good - they will be just as successful if not more successful now - just look at their tour sales for next year! But I just don't think it works really. Just my opinion.

@dillonefc 'gash'? Is that good or bad?
mulderandscully 1 year ago
@mulderandscully Bad (In English, gash is slang for a womans private parts, haha) - Nothing like what is expected from a Take That album, the only song that wouldnt look out of place on another album is Eight Letters.
Dominated by Williams, which is a bad thing. Sounds like his Rudebox album that flopped a few years back.
Hopefully its a grower, but to me it's just like a new Robbie Williams album with Take That as his backup singers.
dillonefc 1 year ago

Take That were better without you!
mosel14 1 year ago
@mosel14 I just heard someone from the NME saying the exact opposite of what you've just said. He loved it. He said it wasn't the usual safe, boring X-Factor type stuff TT as a four piece would put out, it's different, it's energised. it's not the Robbie Williams show, it's all shared out - and he never thought he'd be sat there saying positive things about a new Take That album, as he IS from the NME.
