  • this is the best i've ever heard john's voice, and i've heard everything officially released and a decent fraction of unreleased stuff... his voice here, i can't believe what i'm hearing. i am alone in this? there's an utter purity to it here, zero filter between thought and expression...

  • my hero since i was a 12 year old boy.this is absolutely IT !!!

  • @schlimschlam1 lol what? fuck off, you piece of shit

  • The greatest rock song ever made.

  • Maybe the pinnacle of all music.

  • God, hear the bass. THE FUCKING BASS!

Oh my, i love The Beatles.

  • Indeed, it is great to hear how their music evolved from conception to delivery. John retracted many of the things he said about Martin, McCartney and The Beatles once he got a little distance.

  • Pure geniuses. These men were. I love them so very much.

  • What a remarkable voice Lennon had. One minute, he could be doing a raucous rocker like Twist and Shout and then a moment later turn out this masterpiece..!! Or countless others that go without saying..! I don't use the word "genius" lightly, but in John's case, it is right on the money..!

  • this is freaking great. and john was right. george martin butchered this. this is amazing just like this. JOHN GREAT! and george ringo and paul too. wow.

  • @124slowhand It was Lennon who wanted to combine one take with another when they were recorded in different keys. Martin had to slow the higher key down to match the lower key. That's what gave it that odd dreamy quality. And Lennon approved it. Lennon said a lot of disparaging things about The Beatles and Martin after the split. The truth is without George Martin, there have been no Revolver, Ribber Soul or Sgt. Peppers.

  • @Kaalec YES, I love these earlier studio " takes " working toward the polished album version. However, even in that, some of the earlier takes seemed better than the finished product ! Its wonderful to still have these to listen to. And yes, hats off to George Martin for giving The Beatles a chance and working so well with them ( even John ) !!

  • this is freaking great.

  • que pureza de voz

  • 5 people have no souls..

  • If i heard this song as it is here and someone says they are gonna put brass all over it id have said they are crazy and would surely ruin a great song. But they did and it worked.

  • Oh my god ! so beautiful song and Lennon

  • great photos! where I can get?

  • i agree...lennon at the heights of his powers

  • This song, recorded at the end of 1966 is the moment when pop became high art. One of the most transcendent artistic accomplishments of the 20th century - up there with Jasper John's flags and Warhol's multiples

  • people we want music like this

  • people write songs like this

  • 5 people have never been to Strawberry Fields

  • @chard6788 .. We must pray for these poor deprived souls, LOL.

  • This versions kicks ass! The guitar part at the end is raw .. love it!

  • His voice... it's about his voice.. it really makes me feel good... =D

  • Can't really get too much of the Beatles.....

  • NEVER Heard This Before....

  • @PaulisWilliam search for "It's Not Too Bad - Strawberry Fields Forever evolution" ;)

  • I have the demo version and take 7...but I've never heard this one!

  • @sweetmelaniee on anthology 2? anthology 2 had those 2 and the best version, take 1!

  • @Burromovie yeah, I believe so. I loveee them! [and John Lennon]

  • @sweetmelaniee john lennon was a genius and curse all the dumb southernists that took lennon's comment about jesus serioulsy. we miss you john.

  • @Burromovie i agree 100% I miss John every day, and I can't believe that this December it'll be 30 years.

  • @sweetmelaniee i cant believe that long ago

  • @Burromovie i know, right? it doesn't even seem possible.

  • @sweetmelaniee i remember reading the booklet for the album "beatles for sale", that tony barrow wrote: 'the children of a.d. 2000 will not completely understand what all that buisness with the beatles- don't try to explain the long hair- but just play them this record and they will get it'.

whats wrong with that comment is that everybody still loves the beatles and if anybody dosnet theyre stupid. john lennon man you are the best. hows it like up there in heaven?

  • @Burromovie hah imagine back when they thought the Beatles would just die out and disappear. I feel like that will NEVER EVER happen.

    I hope Johnny is happy.

  • @sweetmelaniee it never will in like 2025, theyll remaster the beatles albums in some new technology and everybody will still love them, though paul and ringo will be in their 80's

  • @Burromovie I heard somewhere that in 2012, they're remaking Yellow Submarine in 3D? That would be AMAZING. I could be completely crazy though.

  • @sweetmelaniee yep true fact, that theyre remaking it. believe it or not, disneys making it

  • @Burromovie I CANT WAIT. I was sooo hoping that was true, haha.

  • @sweetmelaniee type in strawvberry fields forever take 26 and youll hear an awsome version of sff

  • @Burromovie you're right, that's one of my new favorites! I think I love take 26 and the original demo with just john and his guitar the best.

  • @sweetmelaniee yeah its so cule!

its funny that strawberry fields forever was recorded the same year as "yellow submarine" and "paperback writer"

  • @Burromovie I know they're SO different...it's amazing how much the Beatles did and how much they changed in such a short amount of time.

  • @sweetmelaniee a good book to get is "the complete beatles recording sessions" by mark lewisohn. get it and its a really good guide. :)

  • @Burromovie I shall keep an eye out for it.

  • @sweetmelaniee a hilarious song is called "the maharashi song" which was the original sexy sadie. lol best unreleased beatles song.

  • @Burromovie I knew that Sexy Sadie was originally about maharishi but I've never heard it!

  • @sweetmelaniee type it on youtube and ull see it

  • love that guitar. And John's voice... it's just so real...

  • Alot more trippy

  • working title,"it's not too bad."

  • Just noticed the close-ups. Ringo is the only blue-eyed Beatle.

  • @khemikal

    google john lennon with moustache

  • Best version ever

  • I love John's raw voice in this version!

  • paul is knock kneed .. you will never be a surfer.

  • surreal

  • Lennon's voice has an odd pitch on this one. Almost sounds to my ears like the vocal track on this may have been slowed down a small percentage.

  • In fact the released version was pitched down. This version sounds stoneder but not necessarily lower than Lennon's original voice.

  • I agree he does sound odd here

  • i don't know why all of u need to find some particular meaning in anithing that u hear or see..all i know about this song is that it touches me deep inside under my skin ..that's why i love her ...and i think that the best thing beatles have understood is that love counts ..nothing else ..and they put this meaning in every song they wrote ...that's all i need to know about all their song..

  • Would you anyone explain about this song's meaning? It must've had some deep meaning they wrote this song for.

For your reference, I am from different culture.

  • Strawberry Fields is the name of an orphanage that John Lennon used to go for picnics as a kid.

  • It's about Lennon's ego and insecurities and how he felt growing up thinking he was either mad or genius. The lyrics are really abstract and almost random, but can be understood from a certain perspective.

  • well think of the times that the beatles lived in

they lived during the vietnam war, where people were dying and being shipped away like luggage... "but you know i know when its a dream" they know what theyre living in is realy reality..

and someone once told me strawberry feilds is a graveyard... im not positive if thats true or not

    hope that helped some? :)

  • strawberry fields is a former orphanage. I like you're interpretation, but I don't think this song was about vietnam

  • @PedrosProductions i think people get that impression because of the movie 'Across the Universe', thats how it was used

  • @sadpickelvv its not about the vietnam war. it was about it, sort of, in 'Across the Universe'

  • Lennon gave up on this song and told George Martin to splice together what he could to make it a complete song.

  • when did he say that?

  • this version sorta puts me to sleep, but i love the song.

  • No one writes songs like this anymore. It's both music and art.

  • @aimtrue45 love this song, nothing about it man. But at structure this is the model PoP song, no special arts about it.....

  • what is wrong with "pop structures"? mozart, shakespeare, and picasso both worked with their own conservative formulas too.

  • This is easily one of the best songs ever written. The End.

  • word

  • sentence

  • indention

  • What the? hehehehe I'm gonna say PARAGRAPH! I don't care what people think.

  • chapter!

  • Novel!

  • guess thats it there? hehe

  • No! I've only begun!

    How bout this?

    LIBRARY! hahahha

  • hahaha damn why didn´t i think of that?

    THE ART OF PRINTING

  • Okay. NOW you've gone too far. HEHEHEHEHHE

Well, at least we had a bit of fun and didn't hurt anyone!

  • haha yeah :)

  • Yeah "The End" was a great track too but I think "Strawberry Fields Forever" is way better.

  • Hehe.

  • at 2-23 john looks like a old man.

  • pretty cool :)but not the one im looking for:(

  • simply one of the greatest songs... extremely poetic and moody. very unique... the music compliments the lyric so well.

  • I love this song. It's a little wierd cause it makes you feel peaceful. Ya know what i mean?

  • I think that George Martin used this for the Strawberry Fields in LOVE.

  • I take that back. It wasn't this version

  • they didnt know how to finish...

  • A John no le gustaba su propia voz. Pero... no es mejor toma que la original?

John didn't like his own voice. But... is this take better than the original?

  • take 4 -- I guess it says. John Lennon's vocal track doesn't have the compressed sound of the many others -- I like it.

  • love this song

  • Lardass: He was probably thinking: "What a hypocrite Lardass56 is. Why just the other day he posted insults about me on another board." Yep...that was it alright...

  • Beatles version=100x better than candy flip's

  • who the heck is candy flip?

  • Lardass: Shut the fuck up, loser

  • They did; It's on Anthology 2 Disc 2

  • You must be thinking of take 7, which is indeed on Anthology 2 along with an early demo and take 1 -- but this isn't take 7.

Don't know what it is, but it's good, they should have included it on Anthology. I know people can be emotional when it come to such topic.

  • This is on the Anthology?

  • nice -- geez, why didn't they put it on anthology? --what else didn't they put on?

  • For me take sounds the most magical and it can make you think about your childhood which makes take 1 the best one just so you all know.

  • thank you so much

  • such a great song. John Lennon is an incredible musician. THE BEATLES ROCK!

  • lennon's masterpiece

  • i like the end of this version better than the original

  • living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see....

  • Do you or anyone else have the clip when it's shown on 'American Bandstand' and Dick Clark afterwards asking the unhip/obviously not-ready-yet-for-the'60s kids in the audience what they thought? Would love to see that. A total classic.

  • omigod lol that was classic. lmao

  • yeah I've wanting to see thaat one again for awhile too...the girls were like 'whaa...whaa...' and the clued up guys were like "freeeedooooom!!!"

The rest of them looked like if they ever landed in the US again they'd beat them on sight :)

  • No one, I think, is in my tree...

I mean, it must be high or low...

  • Very good, Did you do this in after effects?

  • Nothing to hung about.

  • It's getting hard to be someone, but it's all works out.
