They still use the symbol because they are trying to use it instead as symbol of victory over tyranny and boost moral and nationalism within their people, who for the record, deserve a little pride.......they have been through hell, and are A LOt tougher than any American I know, for god sakes they built a functional country on inhospitable territory.....

@scdeegan100 All in all the country which that banner represented killed more people then Nazi Germany did... The Soviet Union stood for dictatorship, injustice, oppression and poverty. The Soviet Union and it's flag are both symbols of tyranny and death, just as Nazi-Germany and the swastika.
