They are only 28,000 Mustangs left in the wild down from 2 MILLION in 1900, 1 MILLION in 1980 and the BLM wants to remove 12,000 more in 2011/2012! PLEASE CALL, WRITE and E-MAIL your Senators and demand they support and pass S.1176! The ILLEGAL activities against our Mustangs MUST STOP NOW!!!!! I bet most people commenting about the BLM "eradicating" the mustangs doesn't know what the heck they are talking about. It is considered a felony to shoot or harm a BLM mustang under the 1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act.

The BLM manages the land to support the wildlife population. It's some pretty rough country out there and if it wasn't managed there would not be enough forage. Left to on their own mustangs would overpopulate and starve.

@obscuredmelody actually in 2005 some ass from MT sneaked in an amendment saying the BLM could kill extra horses or sell them for slaughter. The BLM claims 2 leave enough horses 2 prevent inbreeding & few enough so they dont starve but in several places they have entirely removed herds or left so few that inbreeding IS a possibility. Then they lease the land to cattle ranchers. Even in areas that are "overpopulated" I have yet to see emaciated horses except in BLM facilities.Its all about money.

@obscuredmelody not to mention the round-ups are cruel. They usually terrify and run them 10 miles or more. The foals get ruined hooves or legs. Mustangs r like people. If they dont have family they dont have anything. Also scientists r sent out to say so many horses should be here or there. There is actual footage of 1 sayin that mustangs r pests & that there should only be 3 on so many HUNDRED THOUSAND acres if that. The BLM is no longer protecting them. They ARE driving them into extinction.

This movie is AMAZING! And the song is appropriate!

However it is true the BLM are rounding up and slaughtering these animals and there was even an idea to take them to a 'haven' where they would live out the rest of their lives but they'd be casterated so they couldn't breed. Eventually mustangs would all die off and be gone. Let's pray this NEVER happens!

We CAN thank ranchers, fish and wildlife, forest service and the BLM for providing a place for these horses to LIVE! I happen to live in wild horse country and if it wasn't for the ranchers most of the time, they wouldn't have good water holes, salt licks and suitable grazing. Ranchers manage the land for ALL the animals and it's not only horses on there ... cows only live on the land for a few months; horses, deer, elk, etc. live on it year round. Think about it!

@wisecomp The only place the "ranchers, fish and wildlife, forest service and the BLM" & the US Military provided for the pure Spanish Mustangs was a dog food can. They shot the pure stallions & replaced them with Draft Horse in order to contaminate their blood line. Shame on them.

WE can thank ranchers, hunters, the fish and wildlife service, US forest service and the BLM for erradicating these mustangs. They are going to slaughter in Canada and Mexico.
