  • Christmas 1994 was just so much more fun because of this game, as were the months to follow. 1995 would be a different year.

It just seemed to slowly fall apart for Sega after this.

  • any thing with deluxe is and will always be a failer just ask mcdonalds arch deluxe

lol jk ? dumb joke sorry if spelled something wrong

  • Wow. It's amazing, looking at a game like this, and then looking at a game like DiRT 2. Just shows how far graphics have come.

  • 32X was my first 32-bit home system. At first, I was just excited that I had a 32-bit game system! But Virtua Fighter was amazing! It made me feel like I had a Sega Saturn. At the time, it was too much money.

  • MUY BUENO EL JUEGO

  • i had downloaded Gens it a sega emulator i would use to play genesis roms. it also plays 32x and sega cd roms u just have to install go to option/misc/bio and add the 32x bio files and it will work =P with out the bio it will say no bio detected

i need to get a sega cd bio cause the 1 i got is for the cd player =P

  • ...I've never played this game...

  • i can remember virtua racing for the genesis costing roughly $90.00. and it was either shining force, or phantasy star that was $100.00.

  • seems like daytona for genesis ...COOL!

  • I have this game, cant play it though cos my 32x refuses to do anything

oh well, i'll stick to the 16 bit version for the time being :P

  • Just dont say anything! "My 32x dont work so I will just play a shittier version!"

  • I do play it now since i got hold of a working 32x, its not really all tht different except you get 3 cars to choose from and a few more tracks

  • And that makes it better right? Would you not want at least a few more tracks?

  • I dunno really, the game kinda is what it is and its challenging. none of these 32x games are really that in depth, its a bit limited with what it can do so alot are just arcade ports and stuff.

if ur looking at it and just thinking its not good enough, u may as well just go play forza 3 or something...

  • The percursor to every decent arcade racer. We should all take a bow.

And the 32X version is the definitive home port IMO.

  • @Noobsaibot21

i agree, 32x is best because it has more cars and tracks, more features mean the fun will be better.

  • @Noobsaibot21 The PS2 version is actually the best as it's identical to the arcade. Although it wasn't released everywhere,

  • @Noobsaibot21 the sega saturn port runs alot better than the 32x port

  • @GamingandMetal6

I disagree. While the Saturn port wasn't terrible, it was much weaker than the 32X / Megadrive ports. I actually think it suffers from slower speed too and certainly weaker sound (surprisingly for the CD based Saturn). Probably because it wasn't ported by SEGA themselves. Having given the SCC version more time, I feel the pecking order is:

    1. Arcade/MAME/PS2

    2. 32X

    3. Megadrive/Genesis

    4. Saturn

  • the 32x was great at porting model 1 games like this and virtua fighter 1. Unfortunately, Model 2 games were already out by this time, and the Saturn was the only system that could attempt to keep up with Model 2 arcade hardware.

Virtua Racing Deluxe was another Great game for the 32x, which I think was highly underrated at the time.

  • This was SUCH a cool game, I had it on my old 32x, used to play it all the time. I remember being amazed at the graphics back then hehe.

  • OH MAN! I miss this game! Thanks fro posting!!!

  • I just barely remember the release of this. I think the price started at $100 for this cartridge when it came out.

  • that was the genesis version, cause it had an extra graphics chip in the cart, It was also the only genesis game you had to pull out the 32X to play, or the system would go all crazy like. the 32X is a step up from the Genesis version. It was a really good game, once you got the hang of the controls for all the cars and each track.

  • This was clearly very inspirational to Daytona USA.

  • This game looks really good on the 32!

The Saturn version is a bit more hyped up but this still looks really good too!

  • anyone know how to check your megadrive for the 3D game compression chip that can run the cartridge version? would be a big help

    thanks

  • ?? not sure what you mean, the 3D Chip that is responsible to run Virtua Racing is IN the Cartridge.

  • I think he is confused with the problem the Genesis 3 has. It doesn't have enough data lines on the cart port to run Virtua Racing or the 32x. They can be modified to work but really, what's the point when older models work just fine and are cheaper than a beat up hore on crack with aids.

  • IT A COOL GAME

  • anyone have an mp3?

  • Who is the composer of this song anyway? He deserves some props. :)

  • This is one of the best music ever in a video game!

  • i think this is one of the best songs ever. i have it on my psp. Play it loud every day!

  • SHADOW SQUADRON, STARWARS, DOOM(2.5D), Darxide, freds Golf, baseball(maybe 1 of them), Metalhead, T mek, Virtua fighter, fifa, Nfl, star trek, Virtua RACING, bc racers, Knuckels bouns levels, all 3D or 2.5D

  • i have a sega classics cd for my ps2 but i think it has the mega drive version of v.r on it.and the car just drifts all the time its nothing like the one i had on 32x the car drives almost sideways, i think it may have been a programing issue?

i used to have the 32x and vr it had an f1 car and a stock car and something else? can some one help me find it

  • The version on the sega classic collection is in fact a direct to home port of the original arcade version with the arcade version coming out around 1992 when 3D racing games were just brand new i would probably say they did have a few problems programming

  • oh i see :(

  • the third car was called the prototype car

  • i've played this using my emulator. I used the stock car and guess what! I went through a whole racer WITHOUT slowng down! That right, stayed on 286km/h all the way!

  • A version of Virtua Racing was released on the Mega Drive(Genesis)too polygonal but inferior to that of 32x

  • Suprised nobody has mention Star Fox - it was 3D and it was back in the days of the SNES, before the 32X (I think).

  • Don't forget Doom and FIFA 96 International because that's also 3D too.

  • Holy.. Thats quite good graphics for its time. The cars for example is in full 3D, not even Mario Cart 64 had that.

  • Well, Nintendo chose to do the characters in Mario Kart 64 using sprites because they felt it looked better. They could have made the characters polygonal, but it wouldn't have looked as good... ;)

  • The cars were too detailed. Good thing the sprites only looked bad in the replays.

  • This game owns gran turismo hd's graphics.

  • I love sarcasm!

  • It totally does!

  • I see your cartridge didn't crash, well done!

  • Holy shit. Isn't the 32X insanly old? Andthey made a 3D game from it?! Crazyness. That must of been a fun game way back then.

  • two 3d games. dont forget virtua fighter

  • More than two. Darxide, Star Wars, Metal Head and Stellar Assault were totally 3D. Star Trek had polygonal parts. Even Chaotix had a polygonal level.

  • oh. i dont own a 32X, so those were the only games i really knew (except for chaotix)

  • You just posted my favorite video game music track of all time. Thank you!!!

  • same here this is my favotie song, infact this IS the best song in the ENTIRE GAME!
