O M G!!! I was browsing Youtube to compare Verrett and Cossoto - and found THIS. I'm overwhelmed by this performance. This must be what Verdi heard when he wrote this music.
@dutchtallguy a) "very nice vocal sound" is an insult to this miracle of a singer, who has a humungous voice which of course doesn't translate on youtube. b) A wide range describes a normal opera singer, Grace Bumbry sang everything from Amneris and Eboly to this and Aida!!! c) She can still sing. And she still sounds young -- she sang at Music Academy of the West a year and a half ago, and by all reports she sounded fresher than the students.

it must be easy to get roles with a voice like that, you could audition for 2 parts in the same opera.
