  • So can I use the boss bd-2 on a tube amp? or would the ds-1 work better on a tube amp? for getting a rock/blues tone like hendrix?

  • 1:11

  • Would this pedal sound good with a 40w Fender Mustang amp?

  • Sorry but useless video, every video I watch for distortion pedals

is some old guy playing butt rock.

  • Why the fuck do I hear his pick? Is he sitting next to the camera, or is the amp actually making that sound?

  • Mr. Macky got a distortion pedal

  • Sounds like this pedal has a lot of potential but can't really tell because this guy is using a crappy amp and 50% of what we are hearing is his pick the strings.

  • I've been contemplating purchasing one of these or a DS-2. I have a solid state amp. Which one should I buy??

  • does any pedal work with any amp?

  • @SuperMcfresh yeah have you ever used a pedal before? instead of 'guitar [lead] amp' its 'guitar [lead] pedal [lead] amp' and if you have more than one pedal you use a shorter patch lead between them

  • @SuperMcfresh yes, prettty much anythig with a P10 jack

  • @SuperMcfresh -yes,BUT,all AMPS have a differnt sound,SO,the effects box will too.check out another post ,on the same pedal, and they all sound a little differnt.i did this with headphones too.plus, some had better recording tech than others.

  • this pedal has a very thin sound

  • i used to have this pedal...its horrable...

  • @randomriffsrawsome Obviiuosly you don't know what your talking about when you cant even spell horrible

  • @ImaGunaWatchYoVids obviously*

  • ds-1 can sound well only on tube amp any solid-state u try will sound like farted national anthem of Trinidad. And im serious

  • @Qoooba95 yay for tube amps!

  • @Qoooba95 Is the fender mustang 2 amp a tube amp?

  • @DaHazzMan no its not it has built-in effects the way they sound its matter of taste i suppose :P

  • I don't know how you got that thing to do that. I got one for my brother, and it sounded like crap no mater what we tried.

  • @azonicj7 its his playing

  • @Alithecomedian No, the pedal sounded like crap when we used it. Yeah he is playing really well, but that doesn't determine the quality of the distortion...

  • i like it!

  • i want this pedal

  • damn good pedal

  • i play alot of linkin park do reccomend anything

  • IF ANY ONE HAS ANY MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS FOOTPEDAL TELL ME IT ON MY CHANNEL CUZ I KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT IT I HAVE IT

  • which power supply are you using?

  • mi pedal funciona pero cuando enciendo la distorcion no se prende el foquito check porque pasa esto? alguien respondame porfavor!

  • Could use just a normal 9 volt AC adapter for this pedal?

Plz reply. I need to know soon

  • @akashleyt I'm guessing the cable going from the top is the AC power cable.

  • Cool pedal

  • I'm still new to the guitar. I'm thinking of buying a pedal soon for a more 'metal' sound to play with. My amp and guitar are nothing special. I bought a kit a few months back. Would this particular pedal work for me? Or should I go with something else?

  • @altermann1ify This one gives more of a rock n roll sound think AC DC. If you want metal like metallica or that style i'd get a digitech metal master or boss metal zone.

  • @JulianManzara NO DO NOT GET A METAL ZONE

  • @RUNnGUNify

why not get a metal zone?

  • @vinnieIbz its horrible if you dont have a $2000-$3000 tube amp

  • @RUNnGUNify

I have a fender hot rod deluxe which is tube and around that price what would you suggest?? as a nice strong deep distortion?

  • @vinnieIbz probably either a ds-2 up to a mega dstortion but then again its all up to you mate

  • @RUNnGUNify

    would the Ds-1 sound decent?

  • @vinnieIbz with your amp hem probably....ummm....well....FUCK YES!!

  • nirvana used one of these on 'nevermind', nice sounding for a cheap box

  • @ebonyepi Same for me. :-)

  • (Says in creeper voice) Oohh I like that one o_o

  • i only need a distortion pedal so i can play "One" properly

  • would u recommenend this for your average metal playing

  • @MultiMusicman97 With an overdrive pushing it....yes. Without an overdrive pushing it, no. Not a chance.

  • @MultiMusicman97 no i recommend boss mega distortion

  • I have this pedal. This is the first Boss pedal anyone should get, very nice.

  • noob question here but i want an answer please :)

why do people buy these seems amps have a distortion channel?

  • @skillzdatkillz900 when you're playing on stage, you're not gonna run back to your amp to switch the channel. a foot pedal is right there and doesn't require the use of your hands.

  • @therealhads fair point, but why not just use a channel switcher pedal?

  • @skillzdatkillz900 it's just easier. it's easier to keep your amp always on clean so you can just plug in whatever pedal and get the sound you want.

  • @skillzdatkillz900 additionally, some people simply don't like the distortion channel on their amp or prefer the way a pedal colors their tone over their amp's natural distortion. Some people use them to boost their already distorted amps into extreme high gain, but those people are either using very subtle boost pedals (nothing like a DS-1) or have no idea what they're doing.

  • @godlover333 i've been playing for 2 years... you wont need it until you start getting to songs that really NEED it... i suggest waiting, plus the amp you buy normally has overdrive as standard which should do nicely for a beginner

  • Hi Guitarist and Rocker!!!

  • used by kurt colbain :D

  • I have this pedal.

  • perfect thing to plays punk and pop punk :D !

  • i want 1

  • That pedal is a pretty good distortion pedal for non heavy music. But if you want a really heavy distorion pedal you get the boss mt-2.

  • loool that is my rig

  • @slightlyoutofreach01 ty, and is there a type of distortion pedal that you know of that sounds good when used with a bass?

  • This guy sounds like Freddie Roach.

  • Do distortion pedals work with bass guitars? Or, will it damage my amp at all if I use one with a bass?

  • @TheXtremeMan4 I've experimented running a bass through a distortion pedal, and it doesn't seem to be harmful, but it also didn't produce quite the right sound. So I think a bigger concern is picking out a pedal that provides the right distortion to the bass without messing up its sound.

  • the amp and is configured with the pedal?

  • Someone gave me one of these. I was excited until i plugged it in. What a crappy sounding pedal. Only hope is to have it modded for 80 bucks. I will wait and see what the new MXR 78 Custom Badass pedal sounds like 1st.

  • Hi,

I bought this pedal few days ago,

when i connected it on my amp, clean tone work fine,

but when i press the pedal nothing changes.

    Any help?

  • @DusanRadovanovic yeah man i have a suggestion ,this happened to me as well.try plugging reversing the cables .make sure the input on the pedal is in the guitar,or vice versa .im not sure i havent used a pedal in a while ...but i hope this helps

  • @DusanRadovanovic It must not be getting power, get a battery, or a new power cable

  • if i already have some good distortion on my amp but need a cleaner distortion sound (less fuzz and more defined) should I buy this pedal or not. if not what should i do

  • I used to have this pedal, its decent, but it wasnt heavy enough so I got muh self a Digi Tech death metal pedal ^_^

  • YAY MINES IS COMIN ON SATURDAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i think im gonna get this...does it comes with a cable to hook up to your amp or do u have to buy one separately

  • @guitarrift96 You might have figured it out by now, but anyway, yeah you have to buy those seperetly, achord cable and the an ac adapter too. It's still a good purchase, in my opinion. An excellent pedal.

  • Was that pinch harmonic at 1:58??

  • I did a gig and was using a ds-1 to play out, during avbreak some other guitar player was talking to me about my rig, and mentioned how everyone has that pedal, for $40 it might be the best in its class, that's a matter of preference, but it's my favorite for the amount of bread forked over

  • i love those rings like at 1:58

  • I want that pedal... and tabs

  • do you HAVE to have a wall connection to use a distorion pedal?

  • is this a good guitar pedal? im thinking of getting it

  • awesome accent ;)

  • run forest run!!!

  • I looove you Jenny

  • The Japan made pre 86 ones I believe sound so much better. They changed some components when the started making them in Taiwan ... Probably swapped some good ones out for Chinese crapola

  • Do i need to have any type of cables to connect a distortion pedal or does it come whit them?

  • @Alan296525 you need one amp cable to connect the guitar to the pedal and another to connect the pedal to the amp

  • @BBoySFX and an adapter

  • I love the Pedal. Had it for years. :P

  • I own this pedal. I own a lot of Boss pedals and this is my least favorite. I think I'm more into overdrive because I've not tried a Boss OD pedal I don't like.

  • That was my first distortion pedal, and I fuckin love it, I used it with a Squier, haha and it sounds great.

Now I have an ml2 metalcore, and its so powerfull, but I keep my Ds1 with me :D

  • So were can i get the one spot powere adapter n how much dose it cost? Thanxz

  • can someone tell me if this pedal is any good playing bands like trivium?

  • @santasgotaminigun yeah its good for that stuff, but it also comes down to you Amp,Guitar and all that other stuff.

  • can distortion pedals be used as a channel footswitch? like from clean to distortion?

  • @lamogand thats why they are made for :)

  • I HAVE THAT PEDAL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheIcefreeze hey do u knoe what kind of power adapter dose it need? and were can i get the power adapter?

  • @browncitycrew I use a 1spot power adapter for it.

  • @TheIcefreeze the 1 spot power adapter can power up 5 or 8 pedals right?

  • @browncitycrew I went to a guitar store got the pedal didnt have the originalpower adapter so they gave me the 1 spot power adapter instead

  • @TheIcefreeze me too! pretty cheap right?

  • @feewert42 I forgot how much mine was

  • @TheIcefreeze $50 Amazon new

  • @TheIcefreeze

    is it worth it ?

  • @TheIcefreeze

    you want a medal?

  • @TheIcefreeze ME TO!

  • @TheIcefreeze Where did you bought that? Reply ASAP

  • @mr10smile025 you can get them almost anywhere. i got mine from musician's friend.com

    my language is portuguese

  • @TheIcefreeze why?

  • @TheIcefreeze ooh sory, I red I hate that pedal haha :D

    I have it too :)

  • @TheIcefreeze read*

  • frusciante use this pedal

  • @CheckThisSaw so does kurt cobain

  • muito bom , esse pelda eu tenho 2 set's só dele.

  • muito bom , esse pelda eu tenho 2 set's só dele

  • Good job, man. Thanks for the video.

  • I love this pedal.

  • damn I got a ds-1 buried away somewhere I bought it about 6 months after getting my first guitar 6ish years ago to basically make my amp have decent distortion, but ended up boxing it unimpressed, might have to dig it out now

  • still for me it doesnt sound the same im not sure is my amp or guitar

i have a fender frontman 65r amp n i have a squier fender bullet strat stracaster

should i get a different pedal or wat

  • @lordguitar101 everyone has diff setups, you can't expect to get the same tone unless u copy theme xactly, gear and all

  • @traindude95 yea i know but im not sure if i should get some other pedal cause it sounds bad with my stuff

  • @lordguitar101 In my opinion, if your gonna play any hard-rock/ metal, i'd buy a good amp (Mesa Boogie) and a better rock guitar(P.r.s,Les Paul,Ibanez, Music Man) Don't get me wrong, I love strats, but they can't really stack up with other guitars for harder rock.

  • @Guitarplayer22222 i agree not a huge strats fan too but trust me i didnt pick this guitar got it as gift n also i dont have money to get good stuff

    but thanks for your advise

  • its "basic" for metal sound, if u want to play MASTER PIECES, buy Metal Zone -2 (specially for slayer) and Metal Muff for all (i like it, because its for solo + rythmic and epic grunch sound)

  • which of these would be a better pedal for me? the DS 1 or bad monkey? i mostly play punk, alternative, rock N roll, and blues.

  • if u put the tone knob up does it put the treble up or the bass up?

  • @Disco234jockey treble

  • george l's cable FTW

  • does this add static sound?

  • @GGuitar45 yes, a lot, and dont get this unless ur on a really tight budget, a boss metalzone/metalcore is worth the extra 70 bucks, they kick this thing in a huge pile of ass shit (yes, a donkey, lol)

  • Are you using solid state or tube? I wanna know how this sounds like through tube

  • @Kingddd333 0:20 around there he says it...

  • @mscott2757 Thanks

  • hmmm.... should i get this one or a digitech D-series grunge?? :P

  • 666 videos .. O.O

  • I have this pedal and it's a great one but it really depends what amp and guitar you're using more.

  • @frettedamericana123 Couldn't agree more, I will say this though there is a DS-1 out there thats modified by keeley, and its much better but then again it has been "modified".

  • I have a DS-1 but I don't use it. I guess like anything if it suits the sound you're looking for then it's ideal. The band I'm in plays 'Classic Rock' amongst other things and it didn't suit my sound to the extent I wanted it to. So for gigs I just use my amp (Marshall TSL combo) for overdrive and recording I use the Boss MT2.....

  • @blueleadguitar you could sell it to me...

  • @sesergioh I would but unfortunately I gave it to my son, but I'm sure you would find a great bargain on ebay...

  • @blueleadguitar thank anyway :)

  • ds 1 are shit.......

  • i've just bought the DS 2 and i thought the sound pretty good, but what do you think about DS 1 ? i prefer DS 2

  • What should I get and which wll sound better ??

Boss Super Overdrive Pedal ~ $79.00

    Boss Distortion Pedal ~ $99.00

  • @jaydenftw Depends If you want an Overdrive(best used with a tube amp) or a Distortion(Best used with a solid state amp). Overdrive+No Amp Gain is really if you want a Bluesy-Rock tone. Overdrive+Amp Gain is if you want some more crunch out of an already distorted amp. Distortion is if you do not like the Distortion of your amp.

  • @jaydenftw get the boss OS-2 overdrive/distortion or at least check it out, i went from using a boss metal zone, a boss ds-1 distortion to just using my overdrive/distortion pedal its great for lead and or rhythm. answer this for me though, boss distortions, the one shown here goes for $100???

  • @MrGodzilla90 no, its 30 bucks, atleast at my guitar store it is ;)

  • @DowntownTB13 same i just got it today 33 bucks

  • @TheVgstudio really, hahahaha, u should have saved for a metal zone!!! they are a million times better, but this little pedal is worth the money!!

  • @DowntownTB13 i didnt want to have the metal sound i wanted it to be unique

  • @TheVgstudio oh, well than the metal zone was probably better, lol, its gain isn't as strong as you'd think until about 3/4 of the way, plus you can adjust mids, lows/highs, and the dynamics of each i think, its pretty sweet

  • hey, say do you need to turn the volume of your amp up to get the distortion with the pedal? cause my problem is that i cant play any louder than on volume 2 because of my neighbours, meaning that i dont get any distortion form my amp. so if i use the pedal, would i get any distortion on such a low volume?

  • @musicsnowandrazzles thats exactly wat happens to me. it bothers me because the distortion doesnt sound like i want it to

  • @TheHardrocker00 yeah it's so annoying when you cant use your amp to the fullest...I bought the pedal yesterday and it gives me some extra distortion, nothing extreme or so, cause I really have to turn the volume down, but the sound I get now is quite nice and very versatile

  • Dont you get this effect with the amp?

  • Do you need 2 guitar leads to make it work?

  • @c0ddlefl0p yep... typical!

  • i played one today and i thought it was great

  • I just got this today and I'm trying it out on my Line 6 Spider IV but so far it sounds pretty lame. My amp's built in distortion sounds way better than this pedal. I think I'm a take it back.

  • @randomdudeof2010 There are disadvantages to using amp distortion too. If you end up getting a different amplifier, you might not be able to get the sound you had. I have a spider 3, but I also play with pedals through the clean channel depending on what I want. Aside from that, the Line 6 amp's distortion is really good.

  • @justinjc I have to disagree.

    I have a line 6 spider 3 75watt and I find the distortions far from perfect -.-

I thought when i bought this amp i would be set but i was terribly wrong.

Not that im totally dissatisfied, just not totally content.

So I said fuck it and started using a fab metal distortion pedal.

    But I play metalcore/hardcore music.

And line 6 doesnt have a good sound for that type of play :/

  • can u play guns n roses with this please tell me

  • @ecgedsel Why would you want to

    They are shit

  • @Derpaherpa123 cause i like them otherwise y would i be asking --_--

  • Buy the Turbo instead, it sounds much... less.... shit I guess lol

  • my guitar have a hamburguer captation fuck machine all night long, can i play with this!!!

  • pedal sounds shit anyway

  • can u lot stop arguin about kurt cobain?

  • Angus Young Doesn't use a pedal setup...

  • @NeMeSiS4752 right, he uses his amp dirty channel

  • @NeMeSiS4752 what's Angus Young use?

  • @Cheeseheadedbeanboy

He uses the dirty channel of his marshall head/ stack

sorry for the late reply i forgot about it
