  • Hi,i had an ulnar nerve decompression surgery 2 days ago,i am on the 3rd day and my hand, the upper part of the palm is completely swollen, did you experienced it when you had this surgery?i'm afraid i had an infection, thanks

  • I have seizures, and after lying in the floor for a prolonged time after an event, My hand symptoms are exactly like yours. I pray when my dr comes back from holiday, He can just give me steroids to reduce the inflamation. I just had to have the other arm fixed from the after math of a seizure injury. I had a distal radial fx repair and carpal tunnel surgery on that arm two weeks ago. Please no more surgery!!

  • I just had nerve surgery in my left hand. doc repaired my median and ulnar nerves. had to cut open hand from in between middle and ring finger to bottom of palm. very painful... he prescribed me T3's but honestly there not helping at all... out of curiosity, what pain medication were you given to subdue the pain?

  • Hello,i have question...how long this surgery was?

  • hi, im 16 years of age and ive had problems with my arm for a while now, doctors say it may be ulnar nerve damage, and im scared. i wouldn`t want an operation to sort my arms out, but for the time being what would i be able to do, to calm the pins and needles and the numbness?.

  • Happy to read your surgery turned out well. You had mentioned earlier that you play the flute. Are you able to play again?

  • Hi, there. My name is Patrick and i have some questions for you. I had some type of surgery like yours but i had my surgery back in March the 5 of this year and has not recover like its suppose to. Please contact me so to discuss more on the same injury.Thank you.

  • As of Sept. 4, 2011, hand feels great. You'd never know I had an injury. I notice a little weakness & squeezing pinkie & ring fingers together is a bit slow/weak, but I've had FULL & COMPLETELY NORMAL function since 1 yr after surgery (Jan. 2010). I healed quickly because, after surgery, the nerve had to repair itself just a few inches -- from heel of my hand to fingertips. Some tingling after writing a lot, but my function is fantastic. 95% of the time, I forget there was ever anything wrong!

  • @ThursdayJava I had a roomate in college get on my case about putting knives in the washing machine blade side up. Well.. I guess now I'm finally convinced. Anyway, always nice to hear a medical science success story.

  • @ThursdayJava Can you move your fingers sideways now?

  • @ThursdayJava great to hear the good news!

  • @ThursdayJava You are not allowed to touch the dishwasher again!

  • wow! i just had that same surgery this week, tried to catch a cup that slipped while washing dishes and it hit the sink and shattered as I caught it, cut my ulnar nerve ,im really hoping to get feeling back , hope your doing well now!

  • Also, was the incision scar sore/sensitive for months? If so, how long would you say? Did you get zingers if you pressed on the scar or surrounding area? Did you get pains radiating down your arm to your hand? How long was the incision site swollen for? How long did you use ice and how often? Do you or did you have a pulling feeling on the back of your hand down your arm, like the tendon is tight and needs to be stretched? Thanks

  • Hello, Hello, I had a simple decompression surgery in March and am trying to get

other peoples experiences and compare to my own. I actually have the grips and

pinch pins, which I was first introduced to during therapy. Any information you

can share would be greatly appreciated. Do you have full feeling in your hand?

If so, how long did it take? Was your hand numb, meaning you

couldn't feel anything at all or was it sort of hypersensitive?

  • How did it go? Did you recover?? I'm a med student and I've just learned about ulnar palsy and I love your videos! I'm just sad it didn't have an ending? I really hope you got your function banck in your fingers!

  • Hi. Just checking videos to see if I can learn anything about my ulnar nerve injury. I am hoping that I can avoid surgery and am looking into acupuncture, chiropractic, and PT. 15 months out, how is the outcome with your procedure?

  • Hi, hope all is better with your hand. Strong vitamin B tablets are good for nerve regeneration, slow release are best. Your nerve can regenerate at 1 inch a month but the more past 21 years old you are the slower/ less chance of nerves regrowing. 'Strong' vitamin B's work well to aid nerve repair. Check out my nerve damage on my youtube videos.

  • how do you get ulnar nerve damage?

  • Hi again Sarah. I recently went to the doc and yes I have exactly what you do. I go back on 12/15 to schedule surgery. My question is did the surgery work out for you in the long term. How long was your recovery time? Finally, how painful was it? Thanks for your time.

  • Hi Sarah. Two weeks ago I received EMG results that revealed conduction blocks localizing at the elbow in the ulnar innervated hand muscles of the left hand and the presence of right median neuropathy at the wrist in the right. WHAT!!!??? 3 doc visits later, I still have no idea what the heck this all means, until I found you! I have your EXACT symptoms. I now just need to know your advise. Can, hopefully, you or anyone else with this, please contact me at j2straub@live.com. Thank you!!!

  • Hey!

I'm an athletic training student, and I am researching ulnar nerve pathology for an assignment. Your video has helped a lot! How are you doing now that you're 9 months out of surgery?

  • @kkqtpie91 I have just been tested for what seems to be the exact same thing. To date, I only have my EMG report that shows negative results of the ulnar innervated hand muscles at the elbow on the left and at the wrist on the right. I think??!! I do however, have the exact same symptoms as Sarah. My next doc appt is 11/23/10. If it's not too late to help with your assignment, I would gladly allow you access to all info necessary. As mother of a college student I'll help, j2straub@live.com

  • @jojijil1122 Thank you for replying! I did finish my assignment, but thanks for your reply!

You are having trouble with your left ulnar nerve and your right median nerve?

  • hi there i had a similar story but i still have numbness on my little finger and half on my ring finger is been 2 years since my surgery and i was wondering if you think i should tell them that i still don't have a complete feelings on these two fingers or is going to stay like this for the rest of my life

  • Hi there, thank you for sharing your story! How is your hand 6 months on? I fractured my wrist 3 wks ago in a climbing accident and had very similar symptoms - I had surgery to fix the bone with an internal plate and also decompress the median and ulnar nerves.

My hand/finger function has improved quite a bit already but can't move my ring/little finger side to side or straighten them fully. Early days for me still - but the doctors are very vague about recovery time!

  • Oh! and...

Honestly, I think the doc says 70% of my hand will come back as a just-in-case maneuver (so that I won't freak out if my recovery isn't stellar). I suspect I'll do much better than that. Whenever I can start PT, I'll give it my all. I think you'll do fabulously. Don't fret about the outcome and just try your ass off in PT - that's my strategy.

  • Hi! I had surgery on January 25th (2010) and was put in a cast. They gave me a fresh/new cast when they removed the stitches a week later. I think the cast comes off on March 4th, so it'll be about 5 to 6 weeks of cast. I think they'll probably give me a brace next.

  • I'm getting ulnar nerve surgery soon on my wrist. I'm not sure how it happened but it might be bike related (braking too much on that side). My pinky and ring finger have been numb since late December. How long will you have to wear your cast and did they say why your movement would be at 70%? I can still move my fingers but it's getting harder to lift them over time. :[
