  • Any idea how they implemented the smooth scrolling?

The difference between the smooth and non-smooth scrolling is striking!

  • @c0ldb33r NewColeco (an authority on Colecovision programming) has informed me that the MSX2 range of systems DID support smooth scrolling by setting a specific screen register in a similar way to the C64.

The MSX 1 games mostly feature character based scrolling and that looked atrocious. Still it produced fast moving games and for some reason that may have been very appealing back in the day.

  • One day I took 500mg of Zanec Ex, thinking it was original Zanec, wow, they should label these better :D

  • @atombat LOL, Zanac (Xanax(r)) can do that for you! The EX is the slow release form and can know you out cold for days :P

  • @xTHExSTIGx Thanks John. I was testing out my carts and he disks that I had been recreating and was recording it all. Turned out allright.

  • Great video Mark! Some more cool games on this cool system :)

  • @misterintellivision Would be cool if you got a msx.

  • Very nice Mark! loved Time Pilot in the arcades as well :) looks really good on the MSX.

  • @thomas3120 Thanks. The msx is a weird system very closely related to the colecovision and the sega master system and at the same time also sporting quite a few of the same games as found on the amstrad cpc and the zx spectrum.

  • Thexder, a classic... I think I still have the old PC version of it with its box and manual. Time Pilot, Xevious, Zaxxon, River Raid I've all played these. But where is Vaxol?

  • @newcoleco I am not complete here. It's just what I could find in my box of msx stuff. I have more but didn't want to make a mess.

If you want I could probably do a review/demo of Vaxol...

  • There are a lot of MSX classics if you dig in, like I digged up some classic GameCube titles.

  • @Bakemon13 Yep, it is always fun to check out the game library of an older system.
