Ford DID plan on selling a 1960 Corsair, but at the last minute changed its mind and offered the upgraded interior originally stated for this model, as a Ranger upgrade. There are extant pictures of a proposed 1960 Corsair, it was a classy looking car, but it never made it to production.
get rid of the vagina grill and its pretty good. Although i gues it wouldent be an Edsel. But im 12 what do i know. I like the 60 coarsair convertible better.
yourpalsteve knows where the name came from. he was being facetious. he has (or had) a large building filled with them in various states of repair or disrepair.
Roy Brown of Ford Styling's "baby." He led the styling effort but the Edsel was too much like a Ford or Mercury to be unique.

The Edsel was for years considered to be one of the worst cars ever made.
Few people liked them.
Over the years however, they have become classics and collector items.
By the way, they were good cars.

There never was a 1960 Edsel "Corsair" convertible. Only a 60 "Ranger".

Car was named after Henry Ford's only son. He died at 43 years old, (before Henry's death ), probably from ulcers given to him by Henry.
