When I was younger I hated shots but I wasn't that bad I would just laugh nervisouly and hyperventilate but now I will have to get allergy shots twice a weak for 3 months and 1 every other week 4 5 years.

I can't even take a needle. Nurses have to hold me down just to jab those into me.

the more tense you are the more it "hurts".

Remember the "pain" is the same, just we deal with it different. Deep breaths and slow exhale and focus mentally on something else complicated like a tracing the lines between bricks in a wall or imagine drawing circles in sand with a stick.

We are engineered as humans to experience and deal with pain - just that we have been softened on a barrier of health and safety and drugs so people just dont know how to deal with it.

I'm getting an IV done later today, and i shit myself everytime i even look at a needle.

When i was younger, it took 5 nurses to hold me to the floor while another nurse gave me an injection...

Now, every time i think of needles i shake uncontrollably and occasionally vomit. :)

That nurse is NOT gonna have fun giving me the IV.

I was afraid of getting shots until I was 12. Now I take allergy shots every other week; I was bound to get used to it, haha. When I was 6, I kicked a nurse when she was trying to give me a shot.

bless. i know how she feels i get shivers thinkin of needles but im makin a group on facebook about it to see if i can get over my needles phobia ,,,,, im ment to of ad my mmr, tetnus, tetnus booster, hpv, and these other ones in 10 minutes and once i saw the needle i wouldnt stay still n i wa kickin n screamin ta get it away from me and i ended up running out of door to not av my jabs :/  needles scare me really bad , ive heard theres this liquid one u cn use insted of a needle but i dunno =/ x

i used to be scared fucking shitless of needles then one day i got the brilliant fucking idea to get my lip pierced

lol i used to do this at the dentist, restraints wudnt even work, i was thrashin like a fish outta water, but then i got older and realized gotta get it done regardless, and thats the day i became a man, XD

I'm hypoglycemic and one time when I got my blood drawn I fainted afterwards. Now I'm fairly anxious when I have to get blood tests run, or I.V.s, or shots, which is quite often. I wouldn't say I have needle phobia though.

I do have a friend who is terrified of all thins hospital related, because he's had too many bad times in hospitals, and he's studying to become a nurse. Tackling fear head on lol
