Polarization blocks out light coming from the side... and your cell phone. You'll notice it more when you're driving, as it'll block out light reflected from signs and the glare from other people's windshields. Other than that, there's no real difference.
Is The frame called plasma? And also, i'm a little worried that The blue lenses will be TOO blue, can you tell me if it's less intense than it looks like on the Oakley website?
i understand im a lil late, and no professional, but polarization is way better. the reason, polarization displaces sun rays from your eyes, if you take both lenses out, and cross hatch them, no light comes through. thats the technology behind polarization and its good if your a fisher because your able to see into the water with clarity. youtube/google polarized lenses, believe me, your going to learn something
man, i'm thinking if i should grab a pair of these to replace my ray bans. But i have a big head lol. You think these would fit well on someone who's 6'1 260 pounds?
@alexandreb94 gascans would not be good for sports. they are considered as 'lifestyle' glasses which means they are good for like driving and just doing everyday activities. they would probably slip down your nose when you sweat bc they dont have the material on their nosepieces/ear sockets like the sports glasses do. gascans are nice shades, but just not for sports.
@alexandreb94 Gascan's are really just for wearing around town. If you start to sweat they will start to move around. Flak Jackets, Half Jackets, M-Frames and Radars are more for sports. Because the rubber on the ear socks are made for when you sweat they don't move around.
@alexandreb94 nooooo the gascans are horrible for sports. theyre not that comfortable and they dont have earsocks. there definitley more lifestyle sunglasses. theyre still pretty cool tho
@alexandreb94 I have Oil Rigs and i imagine the gascans would have the same issue... THEY ARE NOT GOOD FOR SPORT. I am a person who does a lot of sport and that is the one thing that let me down with my Oakleys. If you do sport, get a sports range pair of sunglasses.
@Kingmaconha yes the frames are the same its just the very bottom of the lens that is different so both the regular lenses and xljs fit into the flak jacket frame just the same
best way to test the polarized is to look into a water during sunny days ... so see if it cuts out the sun glare and let u see under water better or not.
You're not going to see a difference between the polarized and non-polarized glasses unless you look at something with a lot of glare or go outside and look at a pool, pond or any body of water.
@Fabianarcos95 I am looking into this as well from what I gathered the xlj frame design is same but colors differ, the lens socket is the same. I contacted oakley and zappos and am waiting for a response from them.
@Calbenmike its really not, unless ur around water a lot. only difference is in the glare reduction, and of course.....blocking out UV rays to protect ur eyes, which isnt physically noticeable.
@logan9539 Look at any car with a bright, vibrant color paint job and it looks that much more vibrant w/ polarized lenses. Also, look at the clouds, look at green grass, polarization is much more than glare off of the water.
bro its square wire lol just so you know i have flak jackets on the way and i have a pair of juliets the flak jackets are jet black w/positive red iridium with red icons they cost me about 160$ but i got spare earsocks and nose peices so i'm in about 173$
If you can't tell the difference in the polarized ones take them fishing or to some water (like a pond--not a clear pool) and look at something underneath the water in intense sunlight. Polarization really helps with the glare, which is intense near water (you're getting it from the sun and the sun's reflection). I recently got the fishing specific flak jackets in shallow blue iridium, and they spank any other sunglasses nine ways to Sunday.
