Oh, I am SO HAPPY I found your channel, sir! Cooking with Clara is retired! She did a wonderful Depression cooking series, and now I have YOU! Wish I had found sooner, God Bless you and your sharing!
Thanks for your video Steve! Loved it! One question though is it ok to boil the jars without covering them with water? Do they seal or does the vinegar preserve them?
Very nice! I just made 10 pints of this yesterday, with the recipe from the Ball book. I actually like your method and will try this next time! I love your hat!! Yes, those are special heirlooms that cannot be bought for any amount of $. Thank you so much!!!
can you please tell me how i can can my veggies out of my garden without having a canner. they cost way too much money and i dont want to let my crops go to waste. i have frozen my squash and zuchinni, but can i do that with pretty much all of them???
That was a fantastic video...Thank you for making it. I'm still a kid, only 58 yrs. but grow a fine garden on my 40 acres in NW Oregon. I'm just learning about canning now as I feel we are heading into times like those you were describing, again. My folks canned every year, hundreds of pints & quarts of all kinds of stuff, meat, veggies, etc.. People like you keep the world going....God Bless
I love this guy! He's a real national treasure of history. The story about the hat was so special and I can see whey he loves it so much. We could all benefit from listening to those who lived during those tougher times. We think we have it so hard today sometimes. Our views are askew and he puts everything back into perspective. What a guy!
MAN I LOVE his generatioN!!! I am going to start doing this NOW!!! They were so smart. This is a real treasure. They are so worthy of respect. This video is so important to me.
@FreedomMeister its not a simple life by any means its a lot of work and its a shame we as a people have gotten away from our true roots if most of our families were close the world would be a better place.
I loved your video. Your pickled vegetables are beautiful. I enjoyed seeing your hat best of all. It's remarkable that you still have it...what a treasure.
@katzcradul Thanks,....Steve is a wonderful man and he cherishes that hat because his grandmother knitted it for him, just after WW2. Very inspirational and a wonderful message. His food is delicious too!
awesome...reminds me of my grandma...she would get down on a jar of chow-chow.
