Big ideals and lofty notions are meaningless when no pragmatic plan exists to carry them through.  This speech is not a "right" speech or a "left" speech. Calling for an investigation, which includes REAL scientific investigation as well as REAL subpoena powers with legal power and consequences if avoided, is about as pointed as one can get.

The even above was also about supporting an already introduced House Bill to aid the First Responders.

All are real ACTIONS people can take. Earlier that day McKinney spoke at a press conference supporting a NYC ballot initiative (NYC has Legal I&R through its City Charter) for a NYC 911 investigation.

Hell, she deserves 95% of EVERYBODY's vote. This woman is my hero. The way she stood up against Rumsfeld and the rest, knowing they would retaliate, showed her as a person of unique moral character. She puts most in government to shame. And no, I'm not black, but I AM AN AMERICAN and I believe all Americans should feel proud of her. She is a true patriot.

If she gets half of that, then the Greens will be running the white house and the cabinet. We can dream, can't we? More realistically, the Power to the People Campaign is aiming for a very practical 5 million votes, as you may know. As McKinney says in her campaign speeches/appearances that gets the party federal matching funds for future elections at all levels of government, ballot access nationwide and thereby a seat at the public policymaking table w/the two parties and the corporations.

I should add that this is how she, her campaign and the party are defining victory, namely on our own terms. Let's be clear: this is a long term project that will probably take several election cycles, but this is one of the first key steps to getting there.

I understand totally what you mean by success in increments. I think there are many Americans that would vote for her if they actually got to hear her speak, but at this juncture with the country in such a mess, people get terrified of 'wasting' a vote on a candidate that won't win *this particular* election. Yet, if she could only get to the playing field, she is more than capable of holding her own. If only Americans would begin to vote heart and not party, we could get our country back!
