  • i agree. i thought it was BJ Thomas all these years LOL

  • this singer had ptetty good pipes. kind of reminds me of elvis, with a splash of b.j. thomas

  • Elvis was offered to record this song but Colonel Parker turned it down. Elvis records this and its a #1.

  • Maybe thats why I like this song! I love Elvis..I remember having the 45 record in the summer of 71' . I had to wait till my parents were gone and play this. I would play it over and over..lol

  • H J F & R and the Grass Roots were two of my fav groups, so it was interesting to learn that "Don't Pull Your Love" was offered to the Grass Roots first.

  • This song was 40 years ago no.6 in the world charts #hamilton #joe #frank #and #reynolds

  • Great 70's song !!

  • lead singer had a great voice....

funny, i heard this in kroger on the background music..

forgot the band....with a little work on youtube i found it...

  • One of the last songs i heard when i left the uk when i was a kid..

    Fab number.......

  • Get the audio from this song at soundnabber doht cohm.

  • This has always for one of my favorite songs. For the longest time I thought it was Elvis, lol

  • @neelie53 - you're welcome Lee! Ron

  • Unbelievable that this was turned down by the GR's. It's very much suited to their style! No matter -- HJ&R did it and we all got to enjoy it -- and AMEN to that!! It's a great classic! Thanks, Ron for sending it to me!

  • One of the better oldies.

    Thanks!

  • I love this song:)

  • This is a classsic I remember this one just like it was yesterday.

  • Does anybody think the singer sounds like Elvis??

  • @55centerstage No offense.. but no.

  • @55centerstage I thought he sounded alot like Elvis. Originally that's who I thought was singing this song.

  • my father and i used to listen to this song on a tape he had. it would make me cry when i knew he had to leave for work as a trucker. id miss him terribly. he passed last september and this is the first time ive been able to bring myself to listen to it since then

  • Love the background music. I don't know the term, I'm the layest lay man when it comes to music. But it's very catchy.

  • Great song and good memories....

    thank you Ron...

  • I bet The Grass Roots were kicking themselves for turning this one down. Great song Ron

  • Remember this one so well Ron

    Oh Happy Days :))

    Great share thanks

  • @DieHardBeatlesFan - you're welcome Tricia! Ron

  • Many memories with this song! And I would have loved a GR version! Well, it proved very successful for H,JF&R!

  • @bze2nlz1 - Hi Chris- yes the Grass Roots would have done a great job too. I do have a version of Rob Grill wiht his new band from around 2000 singing this song! I will send it to you. Ron

  • @rwells47 take a listen to the GR version, you might not say that.....

  • @mrshjfandr- what I meant was that the original Grass Roots at the peak of their career would have done a great job on the song. I posted the video of Rob Grill and the new band singing the song live in 2000. This version was no way near the quality of HJF& R's or what the original Grass Roots could have done. Ron

  • this song is BEAST people!!!! there will never be a better love song than this!!!!!! not no bad romance or one less lonley girl or anything like that. yeah, how's that for taking either lady gaga's side or justin biebers!!!

  • this song is one of my altime favourites

  • Glad it was this version that went to the top of the charts. The Grass Roots sound limp by comparison.

  • One of the greatest songs of the 70,s I sing this ALL the time. Since I sing in the same key it sounds pretty good. Play the CD in my car always. One of those songs you just can,t get tired of. Oh well, a loss for the Grass roots. You guys did it the best anyway i,m sure, especially with those vocals!

  • well, you never know what's going to be a a hit :-)

  • i love this song so much.

  • Love this song 5*****

  • RoryNights- thanks Christine you are very welcome! Ron

  • I love this song and I think they did a great job. But it would have been amazing to have heard The Grass Roots sing it during that time period. I don't mean that an insult either...just as curiosity since The Grass Roots passed on it. Great song. Thanks for posting, Rhonda

  • You're welcome Rhonda! Ron

  • Great tune! Thanks for adding it.

  • Henrytheape- you are welcome! Ron
