This one man wants to take down all commercial media and disperse the brodcast license to local media brodcasters controlled by the gov. Gov approved media....
This guy is a SEVERE LEFT LOON!
If your watching - contact the FCC - tell them - NO - this guys ideas are WRONG
Of course the origins of this idea came from Jean-Jacques Rousseau, who said people’s educations should be limited and molded to make them “good servants of the State”! Karl Marx inherited this concept through his father, a Rousseauan professor at the Univ. of Berlin. Mark Lloyd is simply a disciple of Lenin! As William Ayers said, if we can’t re-educate them, then we will eliminate them; 25 million or so!
Lenin believed that people were Darwinian animals, and their behavior should be molded by government into ideal servants of the State. He even tried to employ Ivan Pavlov, the famous Russian animal behaviorist, to develop a "program" to "standardize the behavior of the proletariat. Pavlov was absolutely shocked! And if they didn’t comply with this "education", they were killed! In those times, the education was largely visual : ) Sweet!
GET READY FOLKS..... They are getting ready to set regulations for the Internet.
We will see our Internet, freedom of speech, taken away, by the end of next week..... and they will not allow ANY dissent to the Obama administration's views.
America. Notice that his examples of bias are all right leaning. The left is even more guilty of bias in media but he and other democrats will not recognize it as bias, therefore, when they do pass "fairness doctrine" the fairness will mean if you don't present our view, you must allow us to present it, but as we present our view (lefty view) it is mainstream and not biased and needs no presentation by opposition. They will silence opposition media like Chavez with this.
If Radio or TV(broadcast) did not work the way it does, then how would it work? Should the government control all broadcast media the way they are doing it in Venezuela where Lloyd's hero Chavez is in control? How else could it work? What do you want to hear on Radio that isn't there. Should stations be allowed to broadcast with few or no listeners? Then what sponsors whould advertise. You ought to think about how it might work and then make comments. Do you want government control of content?
Ah NOW we're getting somewhere. Of course I don't want government doing media. Never have. We'd start by repealing dung-legislation like Telcom96 that opened up the field to all this corporate monopoly. Let multiple voices each have their own outlets instead of all the media being in control of a megawealthy few. What the programs are and who advertises, that's the broadcasters' business. And trust me over 26 years in media I have given this occasional thought, so hold the snark on that.
Well I think I got you figured out. You don't like free markets. You don't like free choice. Today the barriers for getting into radio are very small. As I scan up and down my radio dial I find an infinity of radio stations, both AM and FM. There are idependant stations in my area (SF Bay). There are so many choices. What you don't like and what Lloyd doesn't like are the choices people make. We have liberal talk shows and they have lousy ratings, We have Pacifica & NPR. What's the problem?
Please, you have no IDEA of the barriers. Got 5-10 million + a team of lawyers? You might Have HAD a chance at a spot on the airwaves, if they weren't all taken. The stations you hear and see in ANY US market --along with press and the entertainment industry- are controlled/owned by a select few fat cats- what the hell kind of "choice" is that? Again, THIS is who you're shilling for, so I'm the one advocating choice- you're opposing it like a good robot. Break your chains!
Well I did click "Not Spam" but not sure how this system works. So somebody succeeded in censoring somebody's post. I know the feeling. Whoever it was, hope you're proud of yourself. When you have no argument besides muzzling voices you don't want to hear, then you have no argument. But there's a lot of that going on.
Mark Lloyd is a fraud, hack, and an affirmative action pig. He hates free markets and he hates freedom. This speech is pure BS. Has Lloyd ever heard of Air America or Pacifica Radio? No one listens to them. Has Mark Lloyd ever heard of PBS/NPR? No Mark Lloyd wants to shut up people he disagrees with. He wants to shut down talk radio because it's a sucess and MOSTLY conservative. He doesn't like that. He wants news and opinion that agrees with him. He thinks people like him should determine news.
Have ya WATCHED the video?? I just ran it again- can't find anywhere he remotely implies "shutting down" anyone. OTOH he says "the answer to bad speech is NOT censorship but better speech" (2:49) and goes on: "we need a media responsible to promote democratic dialogue; we need media independent of corporations." (6:21).
To stretch that into "hates freedom" is just bizarre. This is pro-People speech, and the Corporations have you guys frothing against YOUR OWN interests.
My question to you is what else to you know about Mark Lloyd. There's a lot more to this guy than this video. Because he advocates policies within the FCC that would essentially shut down talk radio. He pays lip service to free speech here but then tries to supress it in policy at FCC. He wants commercial stations to be taxed so that they fund government radio and then people like himself can determine what is said. If that doesn't scare you I don't know what will. Get educated.
Not sure what you want here- first you ask a reasonable question then say "get educated"? Which is it? I don't know a lot more about him and I seriously doubt anyone else here does, but I damn sure ain't gonna outsource my thinking to the boob tube carnival barkers who brought this up.
And no, there are no intimations of shutting down ANYTHING here. Show your evidence. "Get educated" indeed. If you have a card, play it. Otherwise all you have is bluff. And I call. Lay 'em out.
Aigrepsa, Ytube limits comments to 500 letters so I was down to just a few when I said to get educated. What I meant by that is to educate yourself about what type of guy Mark Lloyd is. It isn't hard and I think even you could do it. Lloyd does in fact advocate policies by the FCC that would TAX talk radio and then use those revenues to support government radio controlled by the like of people like Lloyd. He's a fan of Hugo Chavez. I not joking. Look it up. I can't baby sit you. Get informed.
"We need a media independent of corporations"...that means media that is not privately owned. In other words, government run and operated.
Watch his other videos on Youtube, and read his book, "Prologue to a Farce." This man wants to charge media companies a licensing fee equal to "100%" of their operating fees which would then be used to fund government (NPR, PBS) stations to promote "diversity." This would effectively put private media out of business. Lloyd has also praised Chavez.
Your statement is blantantly false. The public owns the airwaves. The FCC is charged with regulating the airwaves. Commerical Broadcasters pay a fee for the frequencies & it gets complicated. But the FCC does not regulate Cable. There are an lots of broadcast frequencies available on both AM, FM and now Satellite. Liberal talk radio failed as Air America demonstrated. They are a few successful liberal talk shows but many more conservative. The market works. I think you don't like free markets.
And your statement is blatantly true, the public DOES own the airwaves, that's how it SHOULD work. Read between the lines- when I say Corporatia "owns" them I mean they control them to the EXCLUSION of the public. It's the whole point of this video! Watch it again with this in mind-- it's not right vs. left, it's about the OLIGOPOLY.
Btw they don't "pay fees for freeqs". They pay lobbyists for house-of-cards regs that allow them 1200 radio stations. And this is what you're shilling for.
And I apologize for the last line- I know you're not shilling intentionally but this is what THEY are manipulating the public into-- doing their dirty work for them under the masquerade of "Socialism", "Communism", "Dictatorship" or whatever evil mask they think will work on you. I'm just saying this: look under the mask.
The is the same pattern that is being used to take over health care. Put the government alternative out there as an "option". But create a system where no other competition from the private sector will be able to compete. Remember ever service a government provides they lowball the cost in the proposal. And every service they provide you pay for twice. Through taxes to subsidize the service, and as a consumer who uses that service. This guy is on a campaign for communism, and the administration.
I think it is out in the open and he is proud of it! Question is how much heat can we apply to get him thrown out. Obama likes what he is and what he is doing!
Yet another pick from Obama. This guys view of diversity is incredible and he's Obama's new diversity Czar? His view of things ought to scare the hell out of everyone.
Not sure what a "libtard" is but I've spent a career in broadcasting, so that's my reference point for knowing whereof I speak. As for what I said, I can't even find it now, since some other kind of tards have made it disappear with a barrage of thumbs-downs. It's gone.
With that in mind I ask you-- WHO's the censor here? And which of us is sticking their fingers in their ears going "la la la I can't hear you" out of fear that someone might READ those words?
Given the arogants and love for the bias main stream media you defend it is telling you work for them. Ever consider the thumbs are trying to tell you how far from reality you are?
Actually, read my replies to Juscurious and see how far off *you* are. That's what happens when you're brainwashed and can't listen.
I'm aware of both left and right-leaning media and I'm not a fan of either one. What I am a fan of is We the People having control of our own airwaves, rather than the Oligopoly that is in control of it right now (as demonstrated in most of these clueless comments).
This Lloyd is a very DANGEROUS ideologue. Those who refuse to see that are deluding themselves. Corporations don't preach. They stand back. They hang back. They run news bureaus at a loss. They defer to LIBERALS. In the past, it was a different sort of liberalism, even what today we'd call conservatism. But that was before the baby boom. This guy is talking about how 'far off the system' is! Listen! Yet the founders would INSIST upon a marketplace of ideas, not government selecting who speaks.
This man repersents the power of media bias. He would have the state control the media -- that is not biased? Please. Rather than letting our government control our news, I would think most most Americans would speak up against such a terrible encroachment on our freedom. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe liberals will just support anyone on the president' s payroll regardless of what it does to our country. Are they really that blind? Read Lloyd's book, Farce, to see what he has planned w/ localism.
He's going to do it with force, like his buddy chavez. thanks for your diversity. you mr. lloyd hate this country, you people hate freedom. you and your tactics will fail.
This guy is a loon man. Where does he get off. He is completely contradictive against himself. He is a professor at M.I.T.?? Give me a break. I wouldn't pay me 20 bucks to even listen to him.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. He can shoot off his mouth all he wants. But it still doesn't change the fact that MSNBC showed clear bais on the story about the guy legally carrying his guns in Arizona at an Obama event. They turned it into a proof hate groups never mind the guy with the AR-15 was black.
The bais comes from the same group of people like Lloyd already. The bais is him and socialist like him in the media. He is not and will never be about fairness.
-And I hasten to add, that this "czar" idea is already viral is a perfect illustration of what Lloyd is talking about here.
When we sit back on our fat collective ass and slurp up whatever diarrhea Fox News or the NYTimes or any other megacorp plops out, we are being controlled. Not sure why we would want that.
I would not be so hasty if I were you. The illustration that you might want to consider is that if Lloyd gets what he wants, then there will be no debate or right to speak on one side or the other, but rather only balanced speech as dictated by the FCC. Who was it that once said, "..This freedom (of speech or press) is all too often an exaggeration. At the very least, blind references to freedom of speech..serve as a distraction from...examination of other communication policies." Mark Lloyd

Be serious.
I wouldn't be so "hasty as to put the carnival-barker rants of a certifiable lunatic (Glenn Beck, whose idea this is) against history and common sense. There will always be debate; the FCC has never "dictated" content. If it did, how could Glenn Beck exist? And btw, Lloyd is not even a Commissioner.
In the 1800s we had travelling magic elixir salesmen; today we have Fox News selling fear. Same product, same efficacy, same gullible sheep hanging on every word. Yawn.
Sorry, that myth don't hunt. In forty years of active Fairness Doctrine, a total of ONE license was revoked-- a TV station in Mississippi that was pushing racism and censoring news of civil rights activism in the 1960s. That's it. One.
And zero radio stations.
A popular myth from the snake oil radio blowhards, but there's nothing to it. You could look it up.
It killed opinion and made broadcasters afraid to speak their mind! Not that I agree this the opinion but the case you just sited made my case! Some one voiced an opinion and they shut them down! I may not like what you have to say but will defend your right to say it!
Actually --no. It wasn't for their opinions on segregation. It was that they were pushing that agenda WHILE DENYING THE OTHER SIDE and even censoring news that would acknowledge it.'
It's kind of like if I could type whatever I want here but you couldn't respond.
Again you can look this up instead of me explaining it in a YouTube commentary. So it was the TV station that was killing opinion and denying the "right to say" -not the government. Capice?
Wow what double talk! You are full of it! Why should the government have any say on content at all! They should not! The license is the government leash on the neck of the private owned buisness. It is where the pc cops got started. Now it should end!
We're saying the same thing- government should not dictate content-- and it didn't. To the contrary, they penalized the station for DISallowing content.
But again (for the 3rd time) you can look this up (WLBT 1973) and see for yourself. To dismiss factual history as "doubletalk" because it's not what you're told to listen for is just intellectually dishonest.
Who forces you to wear blinders? Facts are facts. Sorry they don't fit the agenda.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
No. There is no "czar" at the FCC. That's a manifestation of the demons in Glenn Beck's head. Demons he unfortunatley chooses to air on TV. They're fictional.

Yawn.

Do you agree with Lloyd? Yes or no?

Not true! They issue licences and took them for of the fairness doctrine! It did not end until the 80's.

I may not like what you have to say but will defend your right to say it!
john51880 2 years ago
Actually --no. It wasn't for their opinions on segregation. It was that they were pushing that agenda WHILE DENYING THE OTHER SIDE and even censoring news that would acknowledge it.'
It's kind of like if I could type whatever I want here but you couldn't respond.
Again you can look this up instead of me explaining it in a YouTube commentary. So it was the TV station that was killing opinion and denying the "right to say" -not the government. Capice?
aigrepsa 2 years ago
Wow what double talk! You are full of it! Why should the government have any say on content at all! They should not! The license is the government leash on the neck of the private owned buisness. It is where the pc cops got started. Now it should end!
john51880 2 years ago
I guess history is inconveniently "full of it".

Is Mark Lloyd the new CZAR for the FCC?
Where is the A.C.L.U in all of this controling of talk radio?

This comment has received too many negative votes show
No. There is no "czar" at the FCC. That's a manifestation of the demons in Glenn Beck's head. Demons he unfortunatley chooses to air on TV. They're fictional.
aigrepsa 2 years ago
Sh!!! you are not allowed to call him a Czar. But yes and he is crazy.
pandabead 2 years ago
he's not officially a czar, but might as well be. He has the ear of the president and is one of the top dogs at the FCC
