For all who knew him, and those who loved his work, Mr. Bill Castle was an amazing man. Truly one of a kind. Mr. Castle passed away December 5, 2011. Rest in Peace Bill. You will be sorely missed.
OMG- Reading the article was one thing, hearing this piece of history roar with authority is something else! Probably the only operable Miller 183 left (certainly the only one with a detachable cylinder head)- the sound reminds me of an Alfa 8c 2300 or a small-block with a cam. I'll bet it takes on a different character as the revs come up. I wish I was born fifty years sooner sometimes, or at least a lot luckier than I've been at finding such gems.
Read the article about the car and the engine in Automobile Magazine, really admire your ability to build a car around a 75-year-old engine. The engine sounds really stout!
Mr. Castle, I stand in AWE at the amazing feat you have achieved in this project. After reading your story in Automobile Magazine, I just couldn't wait to hear the roaring sound of a decades old engine brought back to life by your ingenuity and impeccable attention to detail. Makes me wish I could have had you as my mentor. Thanks for giving us the honor of hearing this engine & vehicle come to life again. May God Bless you in many ways.
I looked up this video after reading the June 2011 issue of Automobile magazine. I am in complete awe of what Bill Castle has done here. The sound of the engine is absolutely amazing and I wish I could see this thing blasting around the track, and that I could hear it for myself. I just cannot believe the amount of work that went into the creation of this vehicle. I would say "great job" and "awesome work!", but I realize that there are no words to describe this amazing feat. Just simply amazing
