Speaking of Justice, no one gets what they really deserve.. We'd all be dead, in a since we do, but were blind to it.. God's Justice, or our own view of what justice is?? Cause the former changes..
It's interesting because Jim Wallis is speaking of the time Jesus said , "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me..." The only reason Jesus was doing those liberating things was through that Spirit, through the Spirit of the Lord.. " Without the Holy Spirit, without being "born again," we can do nothing. By Faith in Jesus Christ and through the power of His Holy Spirit we now live.
Tucker can't even hear that conversation because he's so closed minded. He's as bad as right wing Catholic Bishops and fundamentalist preachers - Keep Church and state separate and vote for the one that will do the most good. Let your conscience be your guide!
Keeping church and state separate is good. According to Jim Wallis' own teachings, he wants to take religious teachings and make institute them into gov't programs. Tucker didn't hear the conversation, but I did. I heard some kind of religious minister say "abortion is a tragic CHOICE" and I did not hear him condemn the killing of an life. Wallis is a self admitted communist and he is just using religion as an opium of the masses to get his marxist ideas implemented into our government.
Tucker carlson is yet another arrogant right winged media blowhard. This man Jim Wallis is talking about trying to work together, politics aside. Jim Wallis agrees with Tucker that abortion is wrong and he just shuts down his mind to it. It think his bow tie was tied to tight as a child!
lol sadly none of these responders get it really - just like Tucker Carlson. Read Jim Wallis's book "God's Politics" and you'll understand him. Its not just about abortion, its about the political and religious focus and environment our so called "Christian" politicians. Just read his book...
It seems to me that Carlson's stance is an exact representation of what Wallis sees as the problem amongst the Religious Right. He says, "I can't even hear that conversation (referring to poverty, HIV, etc) until that stumbling block (abortion) is moved." This illustrates the one-dimensionality of the Right's moral agenda. I think Christ would be ashamed that we refuse to address poverty and injustice because of one issue that divides us (regardless of how important that issue might be).
I think you are exactly right, so we have to understand those things and determine how we can have people among the Religious Right to work with us on the Religious Left to solve problems like global poverty, human trafficking, climate change, health care, and more. The Religious Left also needs to be open to the Religious Right, and come to consensus through logic and faith.
You just restored my faith on YouTube users. Well spoken.
.
Why not focus on what we have in common (i.e. poverty, HIV, hunger) instead of the 1 issues (abortion) that divides us? Some people (i.e. Tucker) are programmed to see our differences and not our similarities.
.
It seems hypocritical to focus on the sanctity of life on those who are not born yet and totally ignore the sanctity of millions of children dying from HIV and hunger.
I'd like to hear Carlson interview someone once without continually interrupting. Carlson must drive around in a limo with that Liberace boytie. He sure hasn't worshipped at any inner city churches.
if you're against abortion, you have to be against the death penalty, or else you have an inconsistent ethic of life. most pro-life republican politicians are also pro-death penalty. this should be on the minds of those people who are "1 issue voters", most of the time that 1 issue involving abortion.
I hate to say it but Tucker is right. Despite more people are pro-choice than pro-life in this country, the mass majority of religious people are pro-life. Therefore in order to win that base, the democrats have to either become moderate in the stands on abortion, or keep putting out pro-life candidates.
no, tucker's not right. wallis's point is that you have to change the environment that causes people to seek abortions. making it illegal will send them to mexico and to illegal doctors and will result in the deaths of women and unborn children.
does this wallis guy have any support? I think he is being propped up.

Wallis rocks. America's youth needs to open it's ears (me included).

I'm a big fan of Wallis, but today is the first time I've seen him speak. I'm really surprised with how cool and well-spoken he is.

I don't know why Tucker would even think that he could stand up intellectually to Jim Wallis. He tried to fluster Wallis, but to no avail.
