Hi :) im getting good at jump rope but my feet get tired after 10 mins I guess I should gradually increase the time I jump rope time till my feet can do more ?
how do you go from foot to foot or the heel toe move w/e its called I try and try but I cant seem to do it I must be doing something wrong ive improved at jump rope alot sense I started I can go for about 2 minutes without stopping which I guess is a good start but thanks for the answer
Good stuff. I need to lose a few pounds and just got myself a lonsdale weighted leather rope. I thought I was relatively fit, after a few minutes on the rope I realised I got some way to go to get my fitness back!
YouTube Search Buddy Lee. Buddy Lee is AMAZING and has been on the U.S. Olympic Jumproping team. There's another guy from Europe that's stunning also but I can't think of his name at the moment.
lol im partly some what new too jumping rope and everytime i go for the high speed jumping like i smack myself with the rope and it hrts soooooooo bad so when i see this video i cant help but feel all the times i have whipped myself lol
That's amazing. I teach students how to jump rope, not sure they or I are quite at your level eh! Inspirational. Skipping is an awesome cardio workout.
if you can do nine, youre on the right track, especially if you're messing up and not tiring out too much. I went from being able to do a dozen, to doing 60-100. Just keep doing it, set smaller goals. You'll find that once you can break 10-15 doubles, then you have timing down and it'll be a matter of endurance. Keep your form consistent, don't lift your arms up or alter your movement substantially...it'll be better for your knees too.
Thanks- I never thought about not moving my arms/hands too much! I'll give it a try. But man, when you mess up, the rope hits your forearms, and OUCH!!! Peace! ps- ur a hottie:)
yeah i know, it's something iv'e become much more aware of lately. I started to experience some knee pain after jumping so I had to straighten it out.
You might also want to avoid jumping on hard surfaces like asphalt. Wood floors offer much better rebound and take the high impact stresses off the joints.
yeah watching these vids after made me realize that as well, Ive been more conscious of how my feet turn when I jump, working on keeping them straight
Me and a few friends have jump roping to gain stamina, but what is a good rope what should I look for in a rope?!?! If you can, Please tell me the exact name if the rope. Thankx
look for the speed-rope with ball bearings on the handle, they rotate faster. I use a 9 feet long one (i am 5'8"). You should use one twise the lenght from the armpit to your toes. You should be able to get a good one for 10 bucks or so.
you got speed and tech but only 5 varitions, come on man, and if u can do that for 30 mins i respect you, thats just what practice gets you , 2 monhts and any1 whos fit could skip better then this dude
Very good! I've just started skipping and your video was inspirational. I was down because I couldn't do it well atall but I'm pleased with my progress. I can't do successive double rotations or any triples yet though...Can you tell me where in the video you do a double crossover? It's hard to follow what you're technique is because of the speed. How do you do it exactly? Cheers
It takes a bit of time at first to get used to the movements and the timing. But youll notice improvement pretty quickly if you keep at it. I do a combination of a crossover and a double towards the end, its in slo mo so you can see whats going on. Its difficult to describe how to skip, easier to show. And only way to learn is to try the new things, youll mess up alot, welt yourself up, but its worth it
thinking about it, Id say I adapted that way to keep from hitting my feet with the rope at higher speeds. I should probably try not to do that though, its probably bad for the knees, and it looks goofy
Aside from the dumb section I wish I hadnt included thats obviously sped up, theres nothing else fast-forwarded. SOme vids are taken with lower frame rate, so that might give the perception of being faster.
Dude - Why do you wish you hadn't put that "dumb section" in? That's hilarious! That shows you don't have to be stone-faced serious all the time in order to be dedicated. That's where people lose their motivation, thinking they have to be all "intense" all the time. Your "dumb part" shows you can have fun working out. Don't feel bad about putting that in there...it's THAT part that made me watch it a second time! Good job!
Good job. Is it just me, or is the timing for that extra "umph" in your double crossover a split second later than for a regular double? When I usually go in for a regular double, I begin to swing harder when the rope is right above my head. But when I go for a double crossover, I swing harder when the rope is slightly past my head. Is that same for you? I ask because when I do several double crossovers, my timing is off when I start to do several successive regular doubles. Just curious.
I paid for it later with sore joints. If you suddenly just throw in a really intense workout when you arent used to it, your body doesnt appreciate it very much.
iv got the weighted ones..lol..ma arms start killin after a few mins..especially if i done weights b4 it.i been doin boxing for bout 10 yrs now, but i jus wanted to ask u..how long can u skip for without stoppin??.jus want to compare stamina.neway take it easy man n keep it up..cya
i havent been doing any skipping lately so atm, my stamina is garbage. I was skipping for about two hours straight once, only topping long enough to tie up my shoes or get a quick drink of water..but that was stupid and I paid for it later. I can do about 150 doubles before my arms basically wont let me do any more. Thats probably my best benchmark because normal skipping can go on too long without tiring.
very good, im sorta outta pratice on my rope but im getting back into it, i can do a pretty nice consistant pase of doubles but i still can't get them triples. any ways nice video
thanks, yeah I can do a tripple when I want to now, but it takes me alot of prep, like getting ready to time it/big jump. Most ive gotten consecutively is 3.
it didnt take very long actually. After a couple of 15-20 min sessions I had the timing down just fine. WHat I was doing in the video, I was doing that stuff after a couple of months of skipping 2-3 times a week. Now, once you get the timing down solid you can learn anything like a crossover or a double crossover after only a few minutes, and with a bit of practice you can make them fluid as well.
i have three kinds of ropes: one like yours, a thin speed rope, and one with five pound handles... try and find the last type of rope, you will be kickin ass after using that puppy... btw nice video
The rope Im using there is cheap, you cant adjust it, and it isnt very good until its broken in a bit. Little thin rubber ropes, you can really get alot of speed with, but I prefer the heavier ropes for cardio
This video rocks! Too many haters out there act like one man's talent invalidates another dude's. That's just plain ridiculous. The fact is, Huxternator has no pretense of being the best. It's just him rockin' out with some basic moves elevated to a high level. Keep up the good work!
because it minimizes the chance of the rope hitting my feet at the apex of the rotation....i dont know, maybe im bow legged, good call though....meathead
Man I cant do anything special with a rope, thats all really really standard stuff. I just put this video together for a laugh, trying to learn how to use windows video maker
