Poor cat... I personally wouldn't let kids handle animals until they learn to do what's told. If you're not confident that you can stop your kid if she throws a fit and tries to forcibly grab the animal, then you should not let your kid to be around them until you can.

Stupid kids have gotten many pets killed mainly by porvoking them to attack and then they "had to be put down" cus they hate the kid

Although in this video they did manage to stop her as soon as she took the cat on stranglehold.

@Varjensag If you watched the entire video recorded on this day, you would see that her parents were very good with teaching her how to handle the kitten. I think for a one year old, Olivia did really well for her first time being around a kitten. And personally, I don't think it's any worse than an inexperienced mother holding her newborn and letting the baby's head flop once. It happens! Everyone makes mistakes, and infants of any species are very tolerant and flexible for a reason.

@garciajennifer223 I did commend them for being able to stop her when she did grab that cat from the throat. The point I was trying to make that there is always the risk that she grabs the cat by the throat and refuses to let go.

Children have broken necks of small animals when they have tried to escape their grip.

You need to know that your child doesn't throw that kind a tantrum while handling animals.

it reminds me of my neighbors 2 year old (now 6), they got him a puppy that was a few weeks old, oh what a momentous day it was. the family and friends awed in the cuteness. the little boy kissed the puppy, the puppy kissed back. the next day we heard news the boy was getting a little carried away and begin carrying the puppy every where and didn't like when they tried to take the puppy away, and the puppy didn't like that either, so it bite, and the boy... he threw the puppy down the stairs...

hmm Must also notice that she is just a baby who only understands a few words , and for a baby in this age we can tell she has already tried her best to hold that kitty "gently".
