those Arban variations leave absolutely no place for any hesitation after a mistake. If you get out of your triple-tongue rhythm you might as well start over

yeah you can't stress it, it just happens
dunno what the fuss is all about with triple tounging tho, long it off and just use double tounging in groups of 3; dgd gdg dgd gdg etc. it's never failed me yet...
but you can get a clean atack on ddgddgddg, you can do this with dgdgdgdgdgdgd but not with a strong accent at the begin of each triplet, ddg ddg is a perfect choice for any arban etude, anyway if you can do this congratulations
@CaptainFudges people would rather watch some idiot play two trumpets terribly at the same time because it was on americas got talent or some bullshit.
This is nothing compared to Nakariakov's version located here:

I like how the he plays the next note before he pushes the valves. On my Bach cornet I always have to push the valves in time with the articulation.
;-) Beautiful playing.

Whoever disliked this, you could learned a lesson or two from Hakan, instead of hating his amazing playing, you should learned to love it.

I'm learning this piece right now and it's really fun but variation II is soooo hard! Got to get better at triple tonguing.

Matt - it's a cornet. Which is a brass band, not orchestral, instrument. It has a softer, richer sound than the trumpet.

what kind of trumpet is that

@oweowedpd Sergei's version might be faster but Hakan's I think has much more soul in it rather than playing like a robot.

never tried it, but it seems harder. Though obviously more flexible, after a mistake.
I'll stick to ddg though, works for me

d'oh! yeah sorry my bad it is of course actually a trumpet. i was totally aware of that but typed 'trumpet' by mistake for some reason
point is still true of all brass instruments anyway, so kinda irrelevant

If you listen very closely, you can detect in his sound quality that he is principally a trumpet player who is using a cornet from time to time.
If you compare his sound to Tine Thing Herseth, you will find the exact opposite - she is a cornet player who uses a trumpet occasionally.
barliman2001 2 years ago
Sometimes, the notes simply refuse to come out of the horn - unfortunately, that is what happened to him at about 5:01.
Perfectly well-played otherwise!
StradMan37 2 years ago
does he loose the breath in 5:03?
and anyway i love his sound.

un grande anche lui.....

His intonation and embouchure is just perfect it hardly moves when he changes his range!!
trumpetguy19 3 years ago
He is v good, but his intonation isn't perfect.
eflats mostly to high etc.
But his tuning is alive and endlessly correcting.
Which is a good thing
Viscamo 2 years ago
Well, he is using a cornet, and that kind of thing happens if you are not used to the peculiarities of the cornet...
barliman2001 2 years ago
Consider me inspired. I think I'll attempt this (it's in the Arban) although I'll fail.
