I wanna know why fuck sticks like Mixmastermao or wtfe, get that wonderful southern blues like this is "racist". I've never once heard a racial slur of any kind come from any skynyrd song. Nor, have I seen anything racist in their album art. I mean, sure they have the Confederate flag on some of their logos but that's heritage not hate. God damn. Just enjoy some bad ass music guys.
@johnsawyer1 the people are killed and maimed in the process of smuggeling/selling drugs. the gangs who are trying to protect thier area have a will hurt innocent people. if an activity didn't hurt someone there wouldn't be a law against it. I think marijuana should be legal, take the money out of it and you solve a lot of the problems with it. but just because you don't hurt people while in this activity doesn't mean no one gets hurt in it.
@Freebird10201977 - yes it is. Gary has said it's still his drive to move the band forward and continue the legacy. He was a founding member so if he wants to he's allowed. Johnny is Ronnie's younger brother so it's still in the blood. I don't think Gary would ask for your concern on the band.
@SpawnofSkynyrd ok that is fair, I still don't like the current Skynyrd, and I know that Skynyrd has had a country side, but they balanced that out with rock, blues, folk and bluegrass which is why any version of pre crash skynyrd was so amazing

So....you wanna be a tough guy.....you wanna live the life of a gangster....well, listen to the words to this song and the mistake that was made....ITS NOT WORTH IT....seek Jesus in your heart and soul....FIND HIM, he's there in all of us and HOLD ON TO HIM WITH DEAR LIFE.....this man, is YOUR BEST FRIEND and he will NEVER EVER...turn his back on you. He will show you the meaning of the word....... L O V E. Peace be with us all.
Thanks for that, I lifted the all pictures straight off the internet so quality ain't too brilliant apart from that just an hour or so in Movie Maker....Great song-one of my favs.
chill the fuck out buddy I was just saying that to whoever thought that. You post happened to be the one I replied on, no shit you were defending them look at your name im not a tool
mixmastermao "my point with the track was to take a racist white southern group and mix them with a prolific black rapper from the south"
He made this comment on my video: Re.sweet home vs country grammer
Basically he was bitching because he was the DJ who was responsible for mixing it together and he thought that HE wasn't getting the credit for it!?! PARASITE
theres only one thing that matters in this whole universe, his name is mentoned in this song, im comin home to see jesus,, im sure ronnie just before he died, an some of the other guys, were thinkin baout this man, jesus, who paid a price for us, that we cant pay, after many rockin rollin years , havin money, an stuff an bein broke, thats all that matters, he gave his life as a ransom for many, an he rose from the dead, ill take my chances on jesus, he forgives me, now thats love that never fail
Fuck a bunch of this garbage you guys are arguing over, This is just southern music from a southern band. Same as any other genre or what have you. they are doing what they know best,Playing about southern life and southern ways. It has nothing to do with racism or any of that, Saying there a racist group because they are from the south,Hmmmmm makes you wonder who the racist really is here doesnt it?
We were not arguing over anything, as csason had stated he had met members of the band in the seventies I was asking his opinion on the matter following the DJ(YouTube user name : mixmastermao) who remixed Sweet Home Alabama vs Country Grammar commenting on my YouTube response to that remix(see my videos) and he stated Skynyrd and Skynyrd fans were racist!
About a year after the plane went down, I was at a bar on the beach in Jax. I was enjoying the smell in the air with a buddy and two girls and this dude with a cane and a weird hat(and two girls) came walking down to the beach..We all enjoyed the atmosphere..LOL. It was Leon. They didn't just put on a show..it was like a big party. Straight up. I passed a bottle to Ronnie many times.
I was going to do this as a reply but this awesome video deserves thousands of hits and comments.. I regret smoking so much dope and drinking into oblivion at many of their shows..LOL..or I would remember more. It is like having one big wonderful show in my head.
I have had a comment on my video: Re: sweet home Alabama Vs. country grammar, from the person who claims to be the "remixer" of the recording, he states that Skynyrd were : "a racist white southern group".
As you have stated that you actually came into contact with members of the band I would very much appreciate your views on this point prior to my response as it is very difficult, after all this time, to establish the actual facts from peoples assumptions.
A lot of people would like to claim to be a studio tech for LS. They were/are very pro-South, pro-Dixie, as I am. Anyone who understands Dixie would know the black man and white man have co-existed in the south for years, including Confederate Black Regiments. Best thing would be to contact Gene Odom at lynyrdskynyrddixieDOTcom He was on the plane and a friend of Ronnie's since grade school.
He is admin, his nickname is GOGO. Southron's have always been more 'respecters' than racists.
I miss Ronnie and the boys.. I saw them I guess 8 or 9 times..maybe more..(sorry..Jack and Jim does that..) I went to his funeral in Orange Park. You really are a cool dude for putting this video up man..
One of my greatest regrets is that I never saw them play live, I actually had a ticket to see them at the Knebworth festival here in England in 1976 but something came up and I was unable to attend....Of course due to tragic events following I was never to get another chance. Sadly missed to this day, we can only wonder at the joy they would have continued to bring us.
i wouldnt be caught dead without jesus, he said , you must be born again to enter gods kingdom, he sufered an died, an bled , was whipped spit upon, beaten, for the price of our sins, he said no man can come to the father but by me, im sure ronnie called out to him, on that plane crash as the others did too, an we aint perfect, but one day if we are saved we will be, only through jesus, his love knows no end.he proved it, i wouldnt be caught dead without jesus.
i wonder whos layin the slide dobro, whatever, maybe ed king, wonderful heartfelt song, like mr. banker also so great, skynyrd had possibly the best musc in histoey, second only in my opinion, to blackmore an deep purple.
Ronnie would have told you that Skydog and The Allman Brothers band was the greatest, since they started the 'Southern Rock' revolution that is present in nearly every new country song today. But all rock is southern since it started in the south. Dixie forever.
@uhclemm you are correct sir. Jeff n Ronnie was in the studio late one night .he told Jeff he wanted him to listen to some lyrics he was working on .and this is what was recorded that night .
I think this is 1 of if not the best song they did ... this version blows my mind everytime I hear it. GREAT Vid as well ... 5 stars ... great Job ol' Reb
