@comradeshow going by the facts its wouldnt stand a chance. the surprise was a 6th-rate frigate meaning it had 28 guns, the flying dutchman was a unclassed ship with 52 guns. that alone would usually mean the frigate would be obliterated unless the captain was skilled and all conditions were to his favor. howeva on top of its greater firepower the dutchman was said to be the fastest ship in the carribean, was able to submerge and had the kraken on its side

I'm throwing in my lot with the Surprise. It had Russel Crowe in command. To him, this is probably just another episode in his "Fightin' 'Round The World" series.
